  1. Breezy, brooding morning ride in the Bay. Cape Recife, Port Elizabeth
  2. Isetech, I see yours, and raise you mine ???? Properly comfy... and pretty good looking too!
  3. Taking it easy on the backroads of PE
  4. Was looking at the colour combo & graphics of the upcoming Jelly Bean socks and Space Invaders came to mind... Would make a pretty cool sock, methinks ????
  5. Finally got my hands on one of these today. Design is simple, understated & quite appealing. Did a short loop after work - instantly comfy & the flex in the base definitely helps on our lumpy SA roads.
  6. Little bit of illness-induced internet spending... Frame & tyre colour combo is an acquired taste, but keen to see if the Vittorias are as supple as they are said to be. ... and yes, that steerer tube needs to be trimmed a.s.a.p!
  7. Been trying to get my hands on a pair of those since they were released. Really impressive shoes. Where did you manage to find these gems?
  8. Out and about in the Cango Caves country...
  9. A quick update re. the sizing: Picked up a pair each of the Race and Trail versions today. They look really classy & certainly feel like a premium item. The Race version fits my size 7 feet pretty well. Strangely though, the Trail version is considerably larger, resulting in some bunching up in the toe region with shoes on. Reckon this must be down to the additional padding in the foot. Kudos to the Versus guys! Best of luck for the CTCT Expo - see you there!
  10. My thoughts exactly - with the 7-11 size either the heel or toe areas tend to bunch up. Not particularly comfy when riding. I reckon you're spot on with those sizing suggestions
  11. Any guys with smaller feet care to give any impressions about the sizing? I'm a size 7 and often find that socks marked as sizes 7-11 are in actual fact a bit loose/too long in the foot. Been watching this thread with interest. The designs look awesome!
  12. awesome awesome awesome! well done Ashleigh!
  13. Silverback Space perhaps? Or even the new Scalera... now there's a looker!
  14. Sweet! Has a bit of a Sky/Blanco hybrid look to it... very neat.
  15. and one for the espresso mug fanatics...
  16. Here's my little setup... now let's see yours, guys.
  17. Two points of interest: Lyrica (pharmacolgical name - pregabalin) is an anticonvulsant used to treat neuropathic pain, i.e. pain originating within nerve fibres. Shingles can recur. It is the reactivation of the original virus which caused Chicken Pox (Varicella zoster) which has been dormant within the affected nerve. This is why Shingles affects the distribution of a specific nerve only, and not the entire body. In this case - the nerves of the face. Anyhow, just my 2c. Hope you're back on the bike already!
  18. A decently bright set of front and rear lights makes a huge difference to on-road presence, IMHO. Have mine on whenever I'm on the black stuff & have seen the effect - esp. with the front lights flashing during the day - not just on visibility for motorists, but for pedestrians as well. As mentioned previously, if front and rear lights are mandatory for motorcyclists then this should apply to cyclists as well. That said, being on the slow side, I get passed regularly by folks with rear lights flashing which, after about 40-50m, are no longer visible. No ways that a motorist would be able to take the appropriate evasive action in that short distance! Bottom line: turn those lights on, be vigilant, ride defensively... and obey the rules of the road without exception!
  19. Thanks HM. Much appreciated. They are going for a song at @home at the moment - 20% discount. Did not expect to be torn between the simplicity of the Nespresso range & the purity/passion of a true espresso machine!
  20. Guys, any thoughts on this pretty lady: http://www.brevilleu...ta-express.html Doesn't have a double/dual boiler though, so not able to make espresso & steam simultaneously but has an Auto-purge function to speed up the switch between the two. After being a barista for 4 years during my studies I definitely think there is something special about a freshly ground, hand-made espresso... although Nespresso is superb & the ease of use is virtually unparalleled.
  21. Contador! What a tenacious performance!
  22. Entry - check! Not even 15min in the queue. Seems a very efficient system. Here's to a first round of the Cape!
  23. Finally... finally... a tour that is shaping up to be interesting. Grimpeurs with some punch & panache! 'Berto is back and no Team Sky train in sight...
  24. What a sprint! Cav in superb form ahead of the Olympics Would have been interesting to see Sagan's team manager cough up the moolah for a new Porsche though...
  25. Wiggins only wanted a full yellow machine once he was certain of overall victory i.e. on the final stage to Paris...
