  1. Cool, we take Fand's route then, and let him through the traffic lights first to check that it's all clear!
  2. Should have posted this on the KCNC Quality thread!
  3. We must think about the safest place to get onto the N2, as there are roadworks and we don't want to ride the freeway section. Although the roads through Sir Lowry's Pass Village are narrow, it may be safer to string the groups out single file and go that way. It's not a long stretch, and in my opinion, safer than the alternative. Maybe going through the Strand is an option too.
  4. BMC, that's the one. Very convenient for me, and I assume it will be for anybody else joining at SW.
  5. It's still on the cards, but it's WINE not WHINE, this is the Cape not Gauteng.
  6. Might have to ride slow if my ankle doesn't get better!
  7. JB? Anyone?
  8. I just saw this thread now, and I am keen. I quite like Groot Lem's idea too, maybe give it some thought. If the faster group is planning to average about 27-29 then I will join them.
  9. Pads are still in quite good shape. How simple is it to top up?
  10. I removed the pads, loosened the bolts holding the caliper onto the frame and removed the caliper to get it away from the rotor. I then applied a small amount of mineral oil around the edges of the piston and pumped the brake lever. This done, I pushed the pistons all the way back with a plastic tyre lever and reassembled. The pistons now retract completely. The brake lever, however, seems to have more travel than the other one. Does the oil reservoir perhaps need to be topped up?
  11. Thanks for the advice sias but I will try anyway. Somebody needs to take action before one of these guys gets hit by a car (or before I get hit by somebody that they have p!ssed off).
  12. Thanks for the heads up, has anything come up in these threads as to who is in charge of the group? I really want to talk to somebody about it. Got nothing to do with race, got to do with the fact that they ride like idiots and that they are giving all cyclists a bad name with their behaviour.
  13. I finally got around to sorting the brakes out. Been resting a strained achilles so my bike has been rather lonely. Just to give feedback, I got some mineral oil from my LBS and sorted it out. The pistons now retract nicely. Thanks to all who gave me input.
  14. As a result of them the Waterworks road has been closed to cyclists, the last I heard. WHAT??? How did they manage to cause that to happen? That sucks! The waterworks road has become the last section of a nice 35km MTB loop I ride since Dellrust was sold and became closed to riders. Time to find a new place to ride again.
  15. While we're on this topic, does anybody know who is in charge of the development riders who are always on the road in the Somerset West area? They ride in red kit, I think that Pick n Pay is at least a partial sponsor. I want to contact them because these riders are a hazard to themselves and to motorists. They ride in a large group, often up to 50 of them, and they haven't a clue as to how to ride in traffic. They are p!ssing motorists off and are endangering themselves.
  16. Assuming that the driver was at fault. Glad the cyclist is OK.
  17. Thanks Mud Dee, I assume I can buy this at a motor spares shop like Midas?
