  2. Lobbying, representation, mostly on NMT matters. I sit on the Stellenbosch and Cape Town non-motorised transport fora, and it is amazing what can be done with a little bit of involvement...pity we do not have a bob, or bodies, that take care of such matters. If any of you out would like me to come chat with your municipalities, I am happy to do so. Stellenbosch now has an MTB forum, as well as a cycling vision for next two decades.
  3. Name and shame...there's a lot of Stellenboschers who tend to disregard fee structures, permissions, lack thereof, etc. They should then defend their rights somewhere over here, if they're keen. CL
  4. "...currently off the bike at the moment..."
  5. Jip, africabespoke did - see them on twitter.... they offer tours...and have acces to bikes, all sorted, I believe....
  6. Today, one of the Tour d'Afrique vehicles lost it's brakes and crashed. Both drivers survived. All bicycles in the van were destroyed. So, Cape Town -- 15 Tour d'Afrique riders are in need of bikes, to make it to the finish in Cape Town on Saturday. Also, we need someone to deliver such borrowed bikes to Elands Bay by tonight, so those cyclists could ride in the morning. Big task - any ideas, suggestions?? Feel free to contact Lynn on cell # 072 011 8652 www.tourdafrique.com | www.bigride.co.za
  7. Shout on email ride@bigride.co.za if you're able to volunteer to help Friday afternoon at the Eco Park, and then again Sat morning till around 1500 - we need a few more faces, since no-one is quite sure how many people to expect. Tasks are simple, such as erecting / hanging branding, manage the bikepark area, and riding along as roaming 'marshalls.' Event info: https://www.bikehub.co.za/events/event/190-big-ride-into-cape-town/ and tourdafrique.com or bigride.co.za Thanks, Carinus

  15. Hi, no, I am not on the inside anymore.....one thing that is a definite is that you won;t get your license, no matter how you ordered it, if you do not pay CGC their R75 towards their executives' remuneration packages..... If, however, you're not in Jozi, the crime capital of Africa, you should get your lic without too much of a fuss. (Always see CSA as a slow-moving government-mentality-agency, then it is much easier to deal with.) Carinus - enjoying it on the "outside" for a bit.
  16. No, don't think so. Anyone tried this?
  17. Boet, which u23 rider is close to your heart?
  18. They know it will take a generation to close the gap, from where we are now, from 5-7% down to 1% (which is where one start enjoying a bit of luck, coupled with hi-level results.) CL
  19. They were all on the juice programmes, if I remember correctly? Perhaps today's okes aren't?
  20. Boet, thanks for your positive change in general attitude...it's refreshing to see someone attempting to live up to what he stands for. Carinus
  21. How to determine that brutal fact - I can think of 8-10 riders who are better than him, but have no way to prove that attestation. Why, for a grootbek sore loser to be a role model? Again, how does one measure that fact? Such as yourself? How to measure that fact? CL ps: as you can clearly see, I was a bit bored today....
