It was the responce 2 years ago when this exact topic came up. My response 2 yrs ago? Kan nie onthou nie..... The SA champs will be in Oudtshoorn. The date is still under debate, since the decision, which was meant to have been taken at the Congress in April was not taken, and the date is still the only "contentious" point. Iis important that the two issues need to be kept separate, even though the same set of incidents caused the two issues to raise their necks: 1. Personally, I do not believe it such a great idea of DB to employ the words he did to describe my "outburst," etc. I was cool and calculating when the media called me for an opinion on the debacle last weekend at the Tour de Vino. Dave and I will still speak, and, like we have managed to do before, we will discuss, agree and put behind us. PPA will be receiving my correspondence tomorrow, merely as a statement of fact, a reminder of certain stats, and then we too will sit together and continue our good relationship as members of the sport. I do believe we will see a more succesfull and safer type of event living under the PPA umbrella (not because of any of my doing, but because of their good will and great teamwork). 2. Groot Lem wrote to DB based on what I had told him (GL) over coffee, and what I related to him was my best attempt at sharing what DB had tried to explain to me, regarding GL's "shouting" at DB's mates as they rode/drove past each other. If I had misunderstood DB's choice of words, I apologise for that. I am of the opinion that my conversation with DB was emotive (from his side) and that the possibility exists that I he did use those types of words, which came across as criticising GL, upon which I clearly, more than once, asked DB what he meant. I asked, repeatedly, since I was "embarrassed" that my brother was unable to conduct himself in a manner condusive to the happiness of all on that ride. If I had any "control" over GL, I would have preferred that he had refrained from publishing his comments on the hub. Fortunately, we do not control each other, and we live as free men alongside all of you. Also, my job is not under threat at CSA, but it can surely be interpreted that way - by reading DB's statements in The Star - by a loving brother who would do everything to protect his own. no wonder i had to pay for a day license for the Knysna and 94.7 eventhough i am a fully licensed rider and then i couldn't find the WP on the drop down menu. when i queried it with the organisers they hupped bubbles. can someone explain the following : who in the PPA/CSA hierarchy decided that if you want to enter a classic and you are from the Western Province you have to select the PPA as your province. i had the same problem with the 94.7 and the Argus - no WP in the drop down menu. so the organisers/PPA assume that if you are a licensed cyclist from the Western Cape you are a PPA member, it doesn't recognise the existance of the Western Province or its clubs. this is the height of arrogance. Hello, Up till recently everything was fine on the 94/s dropdowns. Their IT okes are trying to fix the problem. Every bit of data CSA possesses is available to all event organisers for lookups, including clubs. This means that the IT people elsewhere must sharpen their pencils. On the CTour's site, I see a lot of WP clubs, so see o hassles. The above argument does thus not count. Cheers, Klein Blade
