  1. Preparation H(icks)
  2. But that would be an issue with the lowers surely? Unless they have some fancy axle off set to drop the wheel? Cant see that working with a thru axle though.
  3. Hicks you've become such a weight snob since becoming World Champ
  4. The SuperStar Switch Evo FRONT hub with 20mm adapters is 195g (according to their site), while the Hope Pro 2 Evo comes in at 185g (but with QR adapters in place). The SuperStar Switch Evo Front REAR with QR axle fitted is 299g (according to their site, 27 point engagement points), while the Hope Pro 2 Evo comes in at 285g (but with QR adapters in place and only 24 engagement points). I don't think the hubs are the issue here... I should have weighed mine (set of SuperStar Switch Evos) before I built them up for actual weights
  5. Perhaps I missed something earlier in one of your posts but what do the internals have to do with converting to 650b?
  6. In the words of a very enlightening sign on on of the sites I visit, "Safety is like an umbrella, useless unless you open it!"
  7. If Nige gets any thinner he'll have to shower with his arms out to prevent him washing down the drain.
  8. It's a hardcore pic. Kevin Carter also has an association with the Spruit in that he committed suicide at the Field n Study Park in Parkmore. There's a random bit of info for a Monday.

    Pump track

So, thanks to all who arranged the build, put spade to dirt and got the pumptrack at Mike's Bikes up and rolling again. The plan is to have a little night race there sometime early December so keep your ears pealed for upcoming plans. A lame little edit of post build riding on Saturday afternoon

So what time do you guys expect to be finished?

  12. One of Pottie's runs. Just a fraction faster than mine
  13. AFAIK they already have one... http://www.bikebits.co.za/
  14. Yeah those trenches weren't ideal and actually a couple guys got hung up in the trees on the RHS. The 1st trench was in the region of say 1.5m if I remember correctly, but it had been filled in. Another interesting bit was the two deep holes (I couldn't see the bottom of one of them) you can see them at 0:48 and one at 1:05 in the vid, both on the right that Dirk had protected with gates to prevent wayward riders from literally burying themselves. I assume this also has something to do with the gold???
  15. A run of the track from various practice runs on Saturday. Had to piece it all together due to getting things wrong and the fact that the jump section a the bottom took me forever to figure out. The track was quite different to the previous years tracks and was heaps of fun to ride and yet very challenging. Hopefully some of the quick guys put some footage up so you can see just how fast those guys smash this track!
  16. I always aim to remain upright.
  17. No he never rode. He offed himself a week or 2 before the event on a section known as "Cliff Hanger" did some damage to his shoulder and ribs... The section got dumbed down a bit to be safer for the event fortunately. Seems like a lot of the good sub-vets have all been doing damage to themselves recently... Dirk, Robin Rumbelow, Jamie Watt, Aubs
  18. Yeah, awesome weekend and a superb event. Well run with amazing sponsorship, prizes and a great vibe. Thanks to Dirk and all those involved for putting on such a brilliant event. I really hope we get more riders next year. Hayley proved that even a girl can ride it on an AM bike, so now there is no excuse for the rest of the 'spruit rats' not to turn up

Also, when will it be ready for me to ride?

    Pump track

Hey guys, I can't make it due to one of the reasons you mention above, but can you please make sure you add to the track as it looks quite small. I'm sure you'll be able to add another loop quick-quick. Thanks
  21. He is a bit of a nut, but definitely knows how to keep thinking straight under stressful conditions. http://youtu.be/-DtouGJ65W8 I think signing him up to be a Hub moderator could be a tipping point though.
  22. Ammon McNeely the El Cap pirate had a bit of an issue on a BASE jump recently. Obviously knows how to handle pain VERY WELL The vid is pretty graphic, so if you don't have the stomach for a bit of gore don't open it. http://youtu.be/tj7fStiEx_o Managed to save the leg miraculously The full story from the Priates mouth can be read here if you're interested: http://www.supertopo.com/climbing/thread.php?topic_id=2258496&msg=2258752#msg2258752
  23. The guy who designed this bike rode with us at the Masters World Champs this year. Sweet looking bike and interesting suspension platform. http://gravityxtremodotnet.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/2014-re-rip.jpg?w=800&h=533 Just before qualies he mentioned to Nige that pedalling DX's backwards sometimes causes them to loosen (Nige was busy back pedalling to warm up). After the comment Nige checks his pedal and to his dismay the pedal had worked itself lose! Then the racing around for a spanner started...
