  1. Having just successfully built my 1st set of wheels, all the forum info I scrounged suggested that you rather go 1mm shorter than longer.
  2. http://vimeo.com/80168312
  3. Fortunately for us there is no cassette with a 47t cog, so I guess well never know, but if you're running the FR version you'll probably be running a dual ring up front in which case you'll want/need the 36t capacity.
  4. Well I've never actually seen his house, so you may be onto something. I think he may live out of his post man Pat(ches) van though. That pic is definitely not him though as that guy is way too skinny. Patches seems to eat really well for a homeless guy.
  5. Speak to Patches about the "homeless" comment . I was just trying to educate him as to who the guy in the pic is...
  6. The "homeless" man you're referring to is action/adventure photographer Jacques Marais. http://jacquesmarais.co.za/
  7. The helmet would be a nice to have, but I need must have really want those damned forks!!!! I won't able to post them today as I've left my phone at home (I hope)... Otherwise you can get them off QuickPix on FB. Also, just to clear things up, is ENDURO not a racing format? Trails, are well... just MTB trails
  8. Damn you Patches, you beat me to it!! Dave wound up 50th in the 'Challenge' event and Shane 128th. Nadia did awesome to finish on the podium. And all of them did well not to get injured by the sounds of things.
  9. Depends on the rider I guess. http://cdn1.coresites.mpora.com/bikemagic_new/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/ce12_stg5_sm_09640.jpg
  10. CRC parcels always get delivered by the EMS guy to my office. VAT payment can be made via EFT and I give him a copy of the Proof of Payment (Tracking number a Payment Reference). Just make sure if they screw you on VAT/Duties that you DO NOT ACCEPT THE PARCEL. Just tell them to send it back for reassessment, but be aware that it goes back into the labyrinth that is the SAPO...
  11. ...and then walk the tech downhills
  12. Damn! Don't think I can make this one. Just a note... Any bike will do! At the most recent event the top four bikes were: 1. BMX (wearing jeans & hoodie) 2. BMX (wearing BMX kit) 3. 26" XC (hardtail, wearing lycra) 4. 29" XC (hardtail, wearing lycra) And the top 4 were separated by less than a second I think. So you don't need any particular bike or dress sense to take part.
  13. They managed to get all of the crap for a braai there, they should take all there crap back home with them!
  14. The Zee (DH option) has a 28t capacity and the Zee (FR) option has a 36t capacity, so if you're running a 1 x 10 setup you'll be able to run a cassette with a max size of 39t or 47t respectively, if I'm not mistaken (EDIT to add: assuming that the smallest cog on your cassette is 11t).
  15. A Jacques Marais image from last weekends Trail Blazer. Would love to be back there!

  17. Cool vid! I met William (through Diteboho, I was at school with him) while cruising around the Cascades venue after the race. Both cool guys, both psyched on cycling!
  18. I survived the DH track... If we never had Tiaan Odendaal (he had raced it the year before, in 2011 in the Jnr World Champs category, if I'm not mistaken) with us showing us lines (and that it was actually possible) I would have been highly skeptical. My bike saved me a couple times on the way down that track. Anyways back to the topic. Make XCO like old school 4X
  19. 2008 Giant Glory http://www.giant-bicycles.com/_upload_uk/bikes/models/zooms/2008/Glory%20DH%20FF%2008.jpg 2011 Giant Glory http://www.giant-bicycles.com/_generated/_generated_us/bikes/models/images/2000/2010/Glory_frame_GE_GA_GU_72dpiWIDE.jpg Big difference between the frames. I know some of the newer ones (1st couple of years) had issues with cracking by the seat tube. Apart from that, the 2011 looks way better than the 2008 option.
  20. We'd need some sort of geological catastrophe to get a track as steep as Champery. That track is insanely steep. So steep that a lot of the track has stairs cut into the embankment to allow spectator access. It was a huge eye opener to roll down survive that track. I still have no idea how these guys n gals race that track.
  21. It would make it a lot more exciting to watch.
  22. Thanks a lot droo, much appreciated
  23. and 2 x RS monacrch damper service kits please... (do they differ from year to year? If so I'll have to check the exact models and get back to you)
  24. Yes please. The whole unit disappeared I also still need that IFP schrader valve adapter (if they are back in stock) http://thumbs2.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mPZZD4om2qZ8eE34InWk5Iw.jpg Won't you please drop me a PM when you have prices on the two items. Thanks Droo!!!
  25. Hey all does anyone know where I can find a replacement for a Revelation motion control knob? My lady friends (knob yes ) seems to have gone walk about during this past weekends Trail Blazer. http://i.ebayimg.com/t/RockShox-Compression-Knob-MoCo-Alum-SID-RLT-09-11-Reba-w-Ext-Gate-Knob-/00/s/MTAwMFgxMDAw/z/RU8AAOxyg7xSZuiw/$(KGrHqV,!k0FJ,ukpB5!BSZuivjMhg~~60_12.JPG OR if any one has a trashed fork and are willing to part it up, please let me know. Thanks
