Don't clean with a pressure hose as this forces the water into the seals. Rather wipe, not spray.

What an amazing event. From the great route to the lunch aftrward, Brait certainly know how to host a MTB race. Did anyone else ride? What was the final distance? My Polar read 39km, but I heard many different opinions. I read on the Crater Cruise thread that there were a few animal attacks. One of the guys on the G2G was attacked by a zebra; literally destroyed his front wheel.

What is their modus operandi? Do they jump out from behind trees? Knock you off you bike? etc. Perhaps this info would help others avoid this kind of incident.

Kevin Evans' parents own the bike shop in Plett (as you enter from the Lookout side). They are very friendly and live at the entrance to the Harkerville ride. From their place you can rent a bike and get a permit to enter the forest. It is an awesome ride but I found the map you get with the permit quite misleading and very definately out of scale. I also didn't think the routes were marked very well, so be alert for the signs. This isn't intended as a dig, just advice, because this ride is simply amazing.
