  1. Wow, thats one sexy machine!
  2. Everyone rode in the same conditions.
  3. <?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> This Morning I was almost badly hit by a car in Kloof, Durban. This is the email I sent out to my club. Man I hate motorists. The arrows point out the direction of movement. I was ahead of the group as I did intervals. Nearing this intersection in the attached picture I was hit by an oncoming car, yip?. Oncoming! Yip, at that spot! Apparently it was my fault as I did not yield! For Vark Steaks, I could have been going down this road at 80km/h and if this guy followed the traffic rules and wasn?t a lazy son of a, let me rephrase. If this guy was not trying to take shortcuts to get to his gym workout (which in my opinion is a waste of time, if he takes shortcuts in his car all he is probably doing at the gym is eating Lunch Bars) there is no way in Hell he would ever have hit me! Lucky for me I came off lightly as after swerving away he only managed to buckle my back wheel a bit! I was frustrated too much (probably in shock) to get any details, all I know is it was a red Alpha the guy was driving. So this asho? So this motorist gets away with it and gets to tell stories about how he thinks there should be no cyclists on the road! Damage for my wallet again! My message for the morning is be very aware and careful of cars. There is no respect for cyclists by probably 80% of drivers out there. I almost became another statistic.
  4. Hey Keith You've had this bike a while now? How does it ride? I want to buy myself a new frame some time and price-wise this looks like a good option. Best of all is I can do it under R 10 000, including seatpost, stem handlebars and some other extras. I'll go with the black frame though!
  5. Roadbike, 91km/h down Armstrong Avenue in Uhmlanga during KZN champs. Well thats what my polar said...
  6. Hi Texas There is a MR Price group that leaves from Westville Checkers at 4h15 weekdays. The pace is at about a 30km/h avg. The Kloof ride starts at Decairn Centre at 4h45 with the Kloof Ballies. It is at a easier pace, about 25 - 27km/h avg. I usually meet and ride with this group and then break away from them if I have intervals or something I need to do.
  7. Hey Texas. Where in Durban do you stay? There is rides on Saturday from Suncoast from 5h30 onwords. We ride in Kloof every week morning except for Mondays at 04h45. There is also a group leaving from Westville at 4h15 (This is for the very fit!) See you there
  8. They will definitely need to pay me good money to ride that bike!
  9. I am also concerned about the prices. Unfortunately I am not in the high income bracket and I do not see myself there soon (Wrong career at the wrong time). I do think I have some cycle abillity, but for how long I will be able to keep up with the "Killing" prices, I do not know. I think pretty soon they are going to rename the sport of cycling to FROPF (For Rich Only Paupers Forbidden)... Even buying consumable stuff like chains is getting out of hand!
  10. If they bearrings feel smooth and the wheels run true, then there is nothing to service I think. If the bearrings feel a bit rough.... replace them as soon as possible, especially if you do not use sealed bearrings as the cones wear out then as well.
  11. Aedon, I think it is a 56
  12. Thanks DawieO That would be Great!
  13. I have not weighed it yet, so I am not sure. I still need to change the seatpost to a carbon one and I am going to borrow a Selle Italia SLR saddle from a friend for a while. I will try and weigh it this weekend
  14. Okay I am a struggling outjie and struggle to get money together for a new frame to replace my RC2000 frame. But then I got this for a bargain. Built it on Tuesday night and compared to the RC2000 it rides like a dream. 2003 Giant TCR 1 frame with Ultegra SL groupset and Easton Circuit wheels. I really need to replace my seat, so if anyone has a Sella Italia SLR 135gr to offer me, let me know. Now to save for a new frame!
  15. Is there a ride before you buy for road sometime later the year as well? Mielies2009-03-26 07:04:04
  16. Are you happy with that frame? Sometimes I consider getting the black one, when they evetually arrive. Are you racing in Richardsbay on Sunday? You are also elite right?
  17. Hey Keith, what do you ride these days?
  18. Okay... I am a bachelour... What is the problem with softener? Does this mean I can save on my Staysoft bill? I do machine wash, spin, air dry
  19. I have also been having clicking troubles lately. Tracked it down to my pedals, clicking goes away after I grease the threads...
  20. About six or seven years ago there was a huge hail storm in Bloem. There acatually were hail as big as cricket balls that day. But that was round about 2001-2002.
  21. Interesting, HG93 is the 9speed chain right... I bought the 10 speed though, seems the older parts are more expensive than the newer ones now...
  22. Hey Keith Which shops did you try? I bought an Ultegra chain at Leighs yesterday for R 300. Online they are about R 264 and if you add postage then it is going to cost you more. My opinion is if the difference is less than R 100, support your LBS. If you save a couple of hundred or thousand, go the online route. Comobike gave me good service when I bought a groupset from them. Enjoy your shopping.
  23. Hi Justin On the topic of MyRace. How do you know if your license registration was successful or not? Or do you just wait untill your club hand you your license card?
  24. Okay, this is a very old topic. I've been experiencing some chest pains since Sunday's OFM. Had Flu before the Amashova and could not take part, so I started training slowly after the Amashova. I pushed it quite hard in the OFM as I had to work on my own in the CL batch to try and get a sub 3. HR was abnormal high as I had a Max of 220, but Average was okay at about 155 which I asume is fine. Missed my sub 3 with 4 minutes, but it was hard time trialing 110kms on my own... Should I be worried? HR this morning was 10bpm higher than yesterday for both average and max. Does it go away by itself? Is your Max HR higher at higher altitudes as down here in Durbs my Max HR so far was round about 184bpm and that was doing the Geohegan.
