  1. The only experience I have had with worn front chainrings is that the chain hooks on the worn tooth and you get a chainsuck type effect - sometimes it hooks till the tension of the rear derailleur pops it off. So if you look back at the rear derailleur while pedalling you will see it getting pulled forward and the popping back. This would happen no matter how hard you pedal.
  2. Ok, the tires are for a XC orientated hardtail. What sizes do the highrollers and nevegals come in? I recall seeing the nevegal in 1.9 and 2.1? Anybody know who stocks the WTBs in 2.1 - 2.3 might be a bit too wide (running ZTRs and will do stans conversion)?
  3. Cool, I was actually looking for the 2.1 Exi Wolf's - currently have the 1.95 on the rear.
  4. Howdy, looking to swop my front tire (Bont. revolt superX) for something with a bit more on it. Any suggestions - not too heavy please?
  5. Howdy, wife knew somebody in Radiology department. Could ask a vet? I guess you would have some sense of relief if the distributor says it is nothing to worry about - only if they give a valid reason (wrapped at that point, etc) I would still always have doubts in my mind - the cracks could be super fine and you would not be able to tell other than x-raying. Not to knock any distributor but they could easily say it is fine in a hope that it survives till past the warranty date.
  6. If you have doubts get it checked out properly. I bought a carbon fork, thought it might be cracked, had it x-rayed and it did turn out to be cracked - JUST NOT ON THE PLACE I THOUGHT, but actually on a section that looked perfectly fine. I guess there is no certain way of knowing other than x-raying the thing
  7. ... and what does she weigh with the new hoops?
  8. It's my evile twin - thanks mate
  9. My new one till I get another itch
  10. Hi As Marius says, it is not that simple. I am 1,75m and generally I feel most comfortable on a 17" (I have had loads of MTBs). It would be best to check things out beforehand, maybe find out what the geometry is of the frame and find a bike that is similar (if you cannot source the same model as a full bike) I cannot see a 17.5" being too small for you, but always best to be safe. You sure you measured your height correctly
  11. Need the cash so down scaling to a hardtail again
  12. It looks much better in "person". This frame could be yours for R4600
  13. Thanks guys Took it for a little test to check if the gears are set up correctly and it is all good - lekker smooth. So much difference to my anthem (obviously)
  14. Not as fancy or modern as some of the machines out there, but after a full strip down and cleanup I finally have my first roadbike.
  15. Hi, not sure what type of play you have on the drive side - but have you checked if you have the right amount of little nylon washers on the drive side between the crank and bb? Should be 2 there I think?
  16. Thanks guys, just what I wanted to hear
  17. Hi Can campagnolo 9speed and 10 speed components be mixed? Example, will a 9spd cassette fit on a 10speed hub, and are the derailleurs interchangable?
  18. I guess the answer is YES slicks make your ride on tar much easier. I have the continental 1.3" ones they are nooice. Building a cheap road bike now, cos running a tubeless setup makes swopping tires a schlepp, and the cost to build up a set of wheels for the road will not work out much cheaper.
  19. Thanks for the info, I might be getting it xrayed soon. Hopefully this will show if anything is compromised?
  20. Ok done a bit of wittling on the fork and it appears that this is the point where the carbon weave ends, crack appears to be the putty/paint vibe. Should I still abandon the for or is this cracks just a case of the flexing, etc between the two materials?
  21. You have a point there, so if I sand it down along the line and a little bit down everything appears fine then it should be OK to use? It is along the inside of the leg so should not be too much of a hassle - should I sand it down all the way around or just take it down till I see metal Yep, got it at the sale Anybody have a carbon fork with a 1" steerer quickdraw2009-09-16 23:16:40
