  1. Yep, if the spec is correct (you do get Manitou shocks with the correct eye to eye, etc), you probably will need new mounting hardware (reducers, etc). The Fox agents are in Cape Town, so might be more convenient for parts and servicing.
  2. Doubt it will make a difference at all, think the only difference was the rear der routing. I bought an anthem frame a short while back and thoroughly enjoyed it - even though it ended up being the wrong size (hence it was sold). You definately won't be sorry.
  3. Very Nice looking bike, you sure it is a 2008? The cable routing looks like it could be an earlier model (I could be wrong). Either way I am sure you are gonna enjoy it!!!
  4. Oldie, but I dig it. Went on it's maiden voyage with me this weekend.
  5. Ta Don't think it came out too bad with my bag of odds - oh and that is a woman's specific fizik saddle.
  6. I think she digs it First ride on this one will prob be the wknd at Tokai.
  7. The wife is not into pink, besides I never had any pink odds laying around
  8. Still quite old school, but just put this together for the wife. Schwinn Moab 15" Manitou Skareb Super SPV XT dual controls Avid SD7 V-brakes XT front der, XTR rear Crappy crank (soon to be replaced) Mavic 819s on XT hubs.
  9. I have 2005 epic with the fox float r brain lite rear shock. The shock itself appears to be fine (no air/oil loss and rebound working) but the brain bit does not seem to be working. Does the shock need to be sent to Omnico or Specialized? Also one of the bolts of the rear pivot (chainstay side) seems to stuck, any reliable place I can take this to in Cape Town that would be able to remove this? Then lastly is 6802RS bearings the same as 1524F ones?
  10. You are about my size - I seem to always find myself with a 17" (18" tends to feel a wee bit too big). The Schwinn mesa is quite a small bike, more like the average 16". My wife is only 1.49 and except for top tube height (then not even by much) she comfortably rides a 17" mesa. Might be selling my Specialized s-works M5 HT (17") soon.
  11. I just put on a Spez The Captain (control) front and Sausserwind (control) rear and they seem to work pretty decently (thick sand and mud - and a reasonably dry Tokai. I had a WTB epic wolf (1.95 - not UST, but running tubeless) on the rear and that was pretty decent as well.
  12. Wish I could ride like one! Lycra is lycra, so dress code does not differ by much Maybe they will?
  13. The air piston oil wt is still the same. It seems strange that they changed the oil wt for the damper. Oh, well I still have enough 7wt to last me a while.
  14. Yep, the oil volume specs sheet now has 10wt green specc'ed for both damper and right (spring) side? There is also apparently a 10wt red? I do know that it specified 7wt before? The pre 2007 X series still has 7wt specc'ed.
  15. I have serviced my Fox 32 F100 RLC (2007) twice before and used fox 7wt fork oil. When checking trough the online service guide I noticed that they now specify fox green 10wt - anybody know why or have they just rebranded the oils?
  16. From a safety and sensible view - both riders should slow down and whom ever has the most sense and manners can allow the other rider the right of way. Then we can all act in what is supposed to be the MTB spirit - greet and say thanks and carry on with whatever you were doing.
  17. How much lighting do you need for one of these rides - head torch or bike mounted or both? What are you all using?
  18. My skills leave a whole lot to be desired, but I figure nobody will see me plonking along in the dark
  19. I am looking forward to this, although I am so slow during the day I might only make it down by the next morning (hope my lights laast that long) How many of you were there last week?
  20. Thanks for all the options - think I am gonna try the wonderfix on the outside with a car tube patch on the inside. quickdraw2010-06-07 03:22:51
  21. Howdy I seemed to have klapped something quite hard, the result being about a 35mm gash in the outer rubber section of my Kenda Karma UST sidewall. The question is - the cut is just through the outer rubber bit and not the threaded section, the tire has not lost any air, the cut is just above the bead - could I just remove the tire and place a rubber patch (old school patch and solutions style) on the inside of the tire and still safely use it?
  22. I'm about 175cm and always seem to find a 17" fits best. I would not go more than 18" unless you are way out of proportion
  23. Not sure, not too worried about the weight but I figure it to be about 10kg? I will swop the UST tires for something lighter when I do get around to weighing it Might even be selling it
  24. She does not get used half as much as she should!
