  1. I take a stroll up there now and again with the camera at hand (especially while I have no ride at the momement). Would be keen to pop up there when you guys a ripping it up - just never too sure when there will be some downhillers up there. Also need to scout out the downhill track to check for some good spots.
  2. Had these few laying around
  3. Not the end of the world if you do, but adding grease to a square tapered axle increases the possibility of one forcing the arm too far onto the axle.
  4. Grease on splined crankshaft, none on tapered square ones.
  5. Hi Looking to furnish my up and coming ride with a set of wheels. The options are possibly - Mavic Crosstrails or XT (all mountain), either 15/20mm thru axle. Anybody have experience with either and any preferences? Other possible options at a long shot - Mavix crossmax ST or Hope Pro2 + Stans Arch rims + revolutions. Open to hearing what would be ideal.
  6. Anyone have opinions on the Specialized Camber Pro 29er vs KTM phinx 1.29? Cannot think of any other Trek dealers in the WC, and cyclelab are waiting on the new stock.
  7. Hmmm, tough choices Sorry Johan, that Trigon is a a bit too much over budget. Had been think ing about the Trek Fuel EX, but can't seem to find one in CT (at the moment, although just started to look around). Anyone know of a LBS besides CycleLab that stock them? Without starting a catfight - most of the sales guys seem to punt the 29ers... for those that have used both 26er and 29er is there that much of a difference and what is the biggest difference in handling, etc. Has anyone tested the KTM Phinx - looks like a good buy - full 2012 XT (except wheels), fox suspension?
  8. I am in the market for a new bike. I am not aiming at winning any races so now full blown race bikes. Essentially what I am looking for is a bike that will climb reasonably well/ok'ish and descend with a decent sofa like feel - wnt to enjoy messing around at Tokai and also want to enter the odd 60k ride/race. Not sure on the 29er thing although there are a few options that seem to appeal to me. Here is a list so any other options or opinions on listed options will be welcomed. Price range about 30k 1. Specialized Camber Pro29er 2. KTM Phinx 1.29 3. Cannondale Jekyll 2011 Please throw more options my way.
  9. Hey Dangle, never checked - are most of your pics with the Sony? How does the quality of the images compare to the DSLR?
  10. Some really awesome pics here, makes me want to go for some training. Started with the dslr thing not too long ago and here are some of my bits and pieces.
  11. Thanks will give it a try. I think most of my "over the bars" stints have been a result of the bike inspiring too much confidence. The first flip was actually as a result of the tire bead losing it's connection with the rims sidewall when I hit a corner. Heard a snapping sounds front did a little slide then grip thing and away I went
  12. Thanks man, yep it is a 120-150 u-turn team Rev. From what I hear the axle to crown length is the same as the 140mm. Really dig the ride, although I have never been flipped over the bars as many times in all my life - think I should go down to a 160mm rotor in front again Though she might be up for sale depending on the mood and if offers are reasonable
  13. Would have posted a bit sooner but had to wipe the cobwebs off first Unfortunately they only had red on sale, but not too bad I think. A bit of a weird build for a 5.5.
  14. Went from Avid G2 160mm to XT 180mm rotors - huge gains. Also one of the reasons I am constantly being flung over the bars.
  15. Always been a punter of the HT, went from HT to DS and back to HT maybe 6 times - all XC based bikes. Recently got a 5.5" travel dual suss and LOVING IT!!!! No way I am going back to HT even though I find myself going over the bars a lot more frequently
  16. What a cute coloured baby you holding there
  17. A bit of common sense and mutual respect is all that is needed. Either way going up or down the singletrack you should be looking ahead of you, and if you don't have the decency to slow down a bit, pass the fellow rider with a "thanks" or "hi" then you need to find yourself another sport/recreational activity. I ride both up and down singletrack at Tokai, and always slow down or come to a stop to allow fellow mtb'ers a bit of room to pass - no need for road rage.
  18. Here she is... my first post 4" travel bike (just finished putting it together) Might changing to some flat bars/lower rise ones.
  19. Had ultimates, now have XTRs - prefer XTRs although Avids were easier to setup.
  20. Well they put the suited range of travel at 120-140mm. A bit late now, bought the Talas (90-130mm) - not too bad weight wise - 1740g
  21. Anybody?
  22. Howdy, I am 5'9" - and according to the intense site I should be on a 19" (medium). Anybody else have one and how tall are you? Then how would a 120mm Reba work on the bike or would a talas RLC(07)be better suited? I plan to build it up reasonably light (for what it is) - but would like to use it as well for the odd 60k race or possibly multi stage?
  23. Howdy, finding out how easy/difficult this is - would I be able to manage with a bunch of sockets and a bench vice?
  24. You check if you are routing the cable on the correct side of the clamping bolt on the RD?
