  1. Ok, just remembered mine made the click noise just before the rebound action of the shock - so compress - click - rebound.
  2. I had an older model Trance (not with the RP2 shocK) that also developed this clicking noise. Checked all forums and after checking and replacing bushings, etc the sound was still there. The only other reason for this what I could source from one or other forum was that there was an issue with the "shim stack" within the shock - apparently some of them had this issue and it does not affect the shocks performance just makes it freaking irritating. Maybe some RP2s suffer from the same problem
  3. Hi I have a 2007 Fox 32 f100 rlc - during my last ride it developed a clicking sound when compressed. The sound is not constant and it only does it once during the compression stage. The sound is also present on occasion if I wheel the bike forward and pull the front brake (gives a click). If I hold the bike upright sans front wheel and knock the lowers from the front back and then from the back forward - also makes the sound. I checked the headset and that is fine (it makes the sound if I take all stress off the headset). I also took it to 2 bikeshops - one said it sounds like the headset and the other says that the fork needs a service - apparently there is a little brass "thing" which might have blocked up and is not currently letting oil through. To me it sounds like something is not seated correctly? The fork works fine otherwise. Also never knocked it or done anything hectic with the fork. The lowers look fine and there is no signs of cracks. Anybody have the same thing happen to them or have any idea on what the problem could be. Sorry for the long winded explaination.
  4. Yeah, there is a "resident" boomslang that hangs around near the climbing crags at Silvermine. Had him cross our line on one of the walls about a meter above my head. They are quite docile though.
  5. What year Scale 40 you got? Is it the whole bike or are you looking to piece one together? Reasons for asking - the 2008 model comes with a fox f100 RL fork and Juicy 3.5 - so what you are looking at would not be an upgrade (if you have the whole bike already)
  6. Put both bolts back on snugly - then loosen the smaller hex (8mm), the 16mm one has to still be on the crank for the arm to come off - basically the smaller hex uses the larger bolt as leverage to pull the crank off. The 2 bolts are for the crank and you will need a seperate tool to remove the BB cups.quickdraw2009-01-06 03:48:48
  7. Hi Which GT Zaskar frame size would better suit someone that is 1.83m tall? Thanks
  8. How easy is it to find this singletrack or most of any singletrack in Jonkershoek? Only been there once and the one track we ended up doing was pretty cool, nice smooth and flowing.
  9. White Lightning Epic and Rock and Roll (gold)
  10. Cool thanks, just thought the UST tires bead differs from standard tires? Looking change the tires on the wife's bike - her current WTB mutano raptors UST one weigh in at over 700g a tire!
  11. Howdy, think this has probably been covered already. Can you fit a non-tubeless tire to a UST rim (xm819) with no tube, just sealant? Cheers
  12. They are full carbon, I think it might have been overtightened by the previous owner. I have the WCS stem and it would be very difficult to crack the bars with it cos the gaps between the faceplate and stem is so minimal. Any idea as to how thick the clear coating is on Ritchey bars?
  13. Hi, should I retire these ritchey MTB bars? I got them with these scores and although they have been fine and feel fine - these marks just sit at the back of my mind. The one is roughly 10mm and the other about 8mm
  14. Fitting those cranks has got to be the easiest thing around
  15. I have the phenom SL and love it sometimes forget it's there But saddles are definately and individual thing, what works for one might not work for another. The nice thing is my LBS gave me 2 weeks to try out the saddle and providing there were no scuff marks I could return it if I did not like it.
  16. If you are 1.74m then I think the 19,5" frame is gonna be on the big side for you. I am 1.75 and the biggest frame I have ever owned (not used) has been 18" If you can get the one size down from that I think it would probably suit you better. The Scott Scale frames are really nice and medium would probably suit you unless your proportions are way out
  17. The Stylo Team Carbons are realy cool, I ran them on my bike with XT/XTR mix. They are pretty stiff and the arms are not full carbon but carbon wrpped so there are no problems with pedal inserts working loose - this used to happen on the FSAs.
  18. Hi Keith Got to admit the Felt does look rather nice. I am not too sure on the pricing of the new Nebraska, but it does come out with a slightly higher spec than the Felt. SLX shifters and front der and XT rear. Also I think the wheels are a wee bit of a higher spec and the fork is better. The Tora is not the greatest of forks but it is a hell of a lot stiffer that the dart.
  19. I'd say check out the Silverback Nebraska - the 2008 model was round about 7k and it had a pretty decent spec for the price. End of the day it is what your gut tells you to do, whichever one feels best is the one to go for
  20. Hi Johan Thanks for the info. Will check into things before going ahead with it. Will contact you when I replace them.
  21. Hi I am looking for a good reason to change the spoke nipples on my wheelset to red ones. I currently have aluminium nipples. Is there any technical reason to do so (change nipples) after a while, other than looks (the real reason). Should one be having the wheels rebuilt after a while to counter fatigue on the nipples (the ones on the wheels man ). What would a venture like this cost. Running stans yellow strips as well?
  22. Yip - you would need a 34.9mm clamp. The older XTC1 and 2 takes a 31.6mm seatpost (normally came out with a shim) and the XTC3 takes a 30.9. Not sure on the latest ones.
  23. My Karma's are quite nice and they are light . Then again they only go as fast as I can pedal, so they are pretty slow quickdraw2008-09-15 11:57:23
  24. Only have one though Used once offroad (serious) - R250 (paid R440) It is the tubeless ready version (not UST)
