  1. Lance doped but got away with it. all the evidence is circumstantial and will never stand up in court. how can anyone listen to Tyler Hamilton and not remember the BS he came up with regarding his unborn twin. Floyd Landis ....nuff said
  2. PPA should fund the following projects annually: u16 multi stage race (with development element) junior men multi stage race Youth Cycling Festival (currently 1 in SWD & FreeState) the above should then kick start schools cycling in the region Multi stage tour for Eilte men
  3. City CC are planning to take a kombi load up - its been too long a time since we've done that.
  4. we train on that road often (at 5 in the a.m.) with little traffic. no one bugs us (other than GA busses - which we sorted out and they now drive a bit more decently) but the other morning we had a moron that started hooting from a long way and sped past us. i can only assume that he was peeved off because we were on his road and not on the cycle path. we are all lit up like xmas trees, we ride in single file, we were the only ones on the road until moron in his motor came along. so whats with the hooting. believe me if the cycle path was wider and in 1 direction and conducive to riding at speed then i would be there.
  5. the MEC for Tourism Alan Winde got mugged on the bicycle lane (paarden eiland) this morning - even his VIP protection services body guard couldn't stop the attack. his cellphone was stolen. Sh*t happens.
  6. i see where you are coming from. chill out. we don't need you on the road in that frame of mind.
  7. there is no dedicated cycle lane in the area you mention.....it is for bicycles and pedestrians.....and in my opinion more dangerous than the road. there is no need to be confrontational, the cyclist has every right to be on the road. you are just aggravating yourself and the cyclist.....and for the record i use the lane if i'm on my own or for a social ride.......a bunch of more than 5 riders are just looking for trouble trying to negotiate the cycle lanes at speed.
  8. Elite entry fee for the series of 6 races was R990. Paardeberg - 104 km, Lady Loch 54 km, Red Hill 4.2 km, WCE 85 km , DHS 95 km , Atlantis 77 km , it was a pity we weren't able to include Klein J'berg and that the Td Worcester was replaced by Lady Loch. no crits were raced.
  9. ppa introduced them now they don't want them - too many complaints on a monday morning. i would like to introduce a similar group but with channels of discipline built in ie if a rider is riding in a dangerous manner then it must be noted and the rider must be disciplined. i noted that last year there were always complaints about certain riders from a certain school, get the ppa / race ref to approach the chairman/coach/manager and tell him/her his rider no ??? is riding *** don't allow him to ride until he has cleaned up his game. they word will quickly get out, shape up or ship out.
  10. i think the break even figure was 287, the wpca gave league the go ahead when it was around 150 because if a season is missed becos of low numbers then it will be so much harder to regain lost riders.
  11. the ppa are losing funrides on the calendar and they don't look like they are attracting new events. i wanted klein joostenberg funride as an additional league race but was denied so the organiser pulled out completely.
  12. Do you want me to get old early??? the challenge for the ppa is to have a summer calendar - there are issues wrt races over OKW and Boyes Drive.
  13. i ran the winter league for the WPCA , charged R70 for seniors and R50 for lighties, paid prize money (not a lot but it was cash and not gift vouchers), never had more than a 100 riders and made a small profit of r1k±
  14. the spring league was in doubt for some time and was organised by the ppa & wpca. entries were down on previous years - no stars in training and the vets, masters and women numbers are also drastically down. entry fees were reduced so it will be interesting to see the final income vs expenses. the biggest expenses go towards making your racing as safe as possible: officials, police, think bike, ambulance,Racetec, toilets don't come cheap when they need to be hired for a stand alone event like the league events at Paardeberg,Red Hill climb and Atlantis. no-one at the PPA/WPCA was paid to be organisers and marshals. any profit won't be given to a charity or paid out in salaries or put into anyone's pocket but will be ploughed back into cycling. don't even mention a loss situation. league wasn't perfect by all accounts, i'll be the first to admit it, any constructive critiscim (spelling) will be welcome.
  15. if the wind blows its a bugger of a ride. no or very little motorised traffic in the reserve
  16. did my first serious (if u can call it that) ride for the year. the legs started to feel it in the last 5 k's.
  17. all categories raced hard and fast. circuit is flat and conducive to breakaways. the only break to succeed was in the vets/master/womans event. the 2 daiken riders in the break ensured that it succeeded. nu water and rsa web almost made it in the elite race. chris jooste and evan carstens had a 45 sec gap at the bell but were caught in the last k.

  19. Elite Sprint Rider on the right (Nu Water) was disqualified for not entering the event. Unofficial Result: 1st Kyle Donachie(Focus), 2nd Boyd Roberts(Intellibus), 3rd Chris Wolhuter(Asrin)
