  1. I dont think you can.
  2. Everyones times are looking very funny. My time is 15 minutes on the swim instead of 20.....dont now what they did.
  3. I also had a great event considering my previous attempts. Went for a swim lesson 4 weeks ago which really paid off as I almost finished the swim in under 20 minutes...for me thats flying. Just chilled on the bike after having overcooked badly previous years and finished just under 1:20. The run is always my nightmare and I just told myself 3 things while running, 1. Dont go faster you'll burn out 2. Dont go slower, you'll be walking 3. Dont fart as in current conditions it wont be a pretty sight. Finished the run just under 52 minutes. All and all enjoyed the day. Following suggestions - Have a marshall or two on the rode, although I didnt see a lot of drafting it is damn easy to monitor 20 km stretch of road. Markers/Marshall - Having to stop at a spot where their is three arrows, identical in size and colour each pointing in a different direction is very frustrating. How difficult will it be to have a marshal at any spot there there might be confusion?
  4. I with you on this. It doesnt make sense. If are not to 'sell' your entry you should be refunded at least 80% or fixed charge for the replacement. The only reason that I can see is that they event makes more money if someone requests a substitution. Glad this wasnt a rant about the price.
  5. Net een klagte.....daar was nie bier te koop nie! Volgende keer bring ek my eie stock saam.
  6. Great event, was there on the Friday evening! BMC.....you fader!!!!! Keep us updated on next event, will definately be there.
  7. .....drinking beer en watching track cycling, selfde as jy. Sien jou daar.
  8. A track even on Friday the 13th???? I'll definitely pop in! Damn, BMC....dan kan ek ook sien of jy nog lewe? Onthou jy hierdie? http://s22.postimg.org/ekvf0vwtd/IMG_9825.jpg
  9. RLV - as far as I can remember it was fairly easy. Install the video and copy paste/replace one file. If I could figure it out it must have been very simple.
  10. First off I must say that this is one of the best buys in a long time, luckily the I dont experience all the software problems. I have a fairly old laptop....3 years (i5, 4gb ram) and must say that it works fine for me. Cant load 20 virtual opponents, but sure that isn't necessary. There was a issue upgrading to 4.7, but the first solution in this link sorted the problem. http://forum.tacx.com/viewtopic.php?f=68&t=20269 I know that Chris Willemse also has a direct link to the developers if you struggle. Regarding old videos........I mailed tacx about some old vids I have and the also told me that its not suported. BUT.....after some searching I found this website that makes all the videos compatible. http://www.lunicus.org/tacx/ttsfiles.htm Pretty sweet. Think it is poor that tacx couldnt bring that support on their own. Also if you search http://bitsnoop.com for old tacx videos you wont find any.......
  11. You must be a NB member if you want to join the DC teams. Membership for the rest of the year is R 132-00. http://www.newbalanceclub.com/join-the-club/club-fees-a-process If you are a paid up member or are interested in joining, have a look below for the DC info. Hi all, If you are reading this letter, then it means that you requested to be part of the NBMC Double Century action. Step 1, tick. By getting your name on the list does not mean you are going to be part of the action. There is a lot of hard training ahead and also a couple of financial commitments that need to be made before we are there. As I explained in my earlier communication the DC does not come cheap and sponsors do not come easy. We have entered 3 teams for the 2013 Double Century. R6000-00 per team! We will be having a Q&A evening on Wednesday 7 August 2013 at 19h00 at the Oude Welgemoed Bistro. Cost involved will be R75-00 for a couple of slices of Pizza and there will be a cash bar. Come and meet the fellow DC riders in the club and then I will speak about sponsors, accommodation, training and strategy etc. You will need to pay a R500-00 non-refundable deposit to show that you are serious about being part of the DC action. Step 2,tick. Now the training start and hopefully the sponsors start to roll in. Step 3, tick. September I will choose my captains for the three teams and also the actual teams, and hopefully your name is on the final list. Step 4, tick. You have to RSVP for the DC Q&A evening,so please send me you’re a mail to confirm that you are coming. If you know of any person whose name is not on the list, get them to contact me ASAP.
  12. Its 07:30. Other missing info on the link as well. They just mail the link as a newsletter and the page as a whole contains all the info. I just post the middle bit.
  13. I have no idea. I just ride with the roadies. There are some pretty strong guys, but no supermen. Can give you Cornels nr. if you want to ask about those rides.
  14. Everyone is welcome. if you like it you can join the club later on. http://www.newbalanceclub.com/cycling NBMC Cycling. As I get to know the need of cyclist in NBMC I will adjust my program accordingly. As this might take some time I ask you to be patient and please give me feedback. We are trying to create an environment to cater for most of our cyclists. Firstly - I would like to make Durbanville Mugg & Bean parking lot our central hub from where we start all our pack rides for the road and MTB farm road rides. Tygervalley area is just too dangerous when returning from our out rides. Secondly - I would like to create one additional pickup point where cyclist not able to cycle to Mugg & Bean Durbanville can be picked up. I have identified Andrag (cnr Old Oak & Old Paarl) to be the spot. This will only apply to the pack rides going out towards Stellenbosch area. The plan is to be there 20 minutes after the planned Mugg & Bean start time. Thirdly - I will start alternating between Saturdays and Sundays, due to religious requests and also people working on Saturdays. For the slow/novice MTBer. I have come to realise there is a big need for farm road riding more than technical riding amongst our novice riders. From now I will have a MTB 40km ride every weekend for the slow/novice riders. The idea is to increase this distance in August to 50km and in September to 60km. I will also take the novice riders to Jonkershoek on 13 July to go and ride singles tracks. This is only for the novice riders and we will go and explore the easy yet beautiful singles tracks. Do not miss out. For the advanced MTBer. For the more advanced and fit riders I will have options that vary between 90km farm rides and then rides in Jonkershoek this month. These rides will be at a fairly fast pace, and if you are not fit you and cannot keep up you will need to turn around. Please have a look at the program below. For the Roadies. We will only have one group every weekend for the road cyclist in July. This will be aimed at the average rider and the route will mostly range from 70km – 100km. You have to be able to cycle at least 70km at an average speed of 25km per hour in a peloton to be part of this pack. I will try and get a safety vehicle for every weekend. If you are able to assist by driving a safety vehicle, please send me a mail with what date you can do based on the program. NMBC Safety Vehicle. I was very fortunate or shall I say unfortunate (would much rather have cycled) to try the Safety Vehicle concept one weekend in June and happy to report that things went exceptionally well. Speeding cars slowed down and not one car passed closer than the 1.5m gap. The feedback from all the cyclists was very positive and we did not have one vehicle hooting at us or that showed any form of road violence towards the cyclist or the safety vehicle. At this stage I am trying to get my head around how I can implement this, as I am not going to drive the safety vehicle every weekend! I am looking for input from you the cyclists. I think as NBMC cycling members it should become a duty to drive the safety vehicle at least once. At this stage I am looking for volunteers until I have figured out a fair way of implementing the concept. Please let me know your name and the date that you can make it based on my program below. In July we are going to cycle on either Saturday or Sunday. Obviously as summer gets closer we will need 2 safety vehicles, one for the long and the short route. Please note the following when you are the safety vehicle driver. Safety Vehicle - Driver: 1) Drive with your headlights and hazard lights on, all the way. 2) Drive at least 10M behind the last rider in the bunch. 3) Drive with your personal nose (not the vehicle nose) over the yellow line, allowing oncoming traffic to overtake you, yet you force them to slow down and leave at least 1.5 m between the passing vehicle and the cyclists. 4) Pay 100% attention to what is going on in front of you, if there is a crash in the pack you must react very quick! Apart from the regular no helmet no ride, no light no ride, take note of the following rules. Cyclists: 1) Always stay inside the yellow line! Do not abuse the fact that there is a safety vehicle. If there is no yellow line, then ride single file, please! 2) Please do not fall back to the safety vehicle while moving, stop first! 3) Some cyclists are all over the show when cycling. You put yourself and other cyclist in danger. 4) Do not overlap wheels with the rider in front of you! 5) When you talk to somebody, keep facing the front, you ride where you look, so look where you should ride. 6) If you are nervous about riding in the pack, make it known to fellow riders. Start at the back and slowly make your way to the front. If you are new to cycling ride behind someone that knows how to ride. Look and Learn. 7) Please refrain from using cell phones while riding! 8) Make sure your back light has fresh batteries and is in good working order. Double Century Feedback. I already have 2 full teams for the DC. We want to enter three teams, but you need to inform me via e-mail request. Your name will go on a list and I will start communicating via separate mail to all the DC contenders. If your name is on the list, then it is not a given that you will make one of the teams. You need to earn your place, but by sending me the mail you are halfway there. You need to be fit to ride 90km by end of August. Official LSD (long slow distance) training starts 1 September although I suggest you get saddle fit in July and August. We still need sponsors, so do contact Jasper Coetzee or myself if you can help with sponsorship. This is going to be a DC to remember! 15. Hi all, Just a quick update on the weekends pack rides. Seems like the weather is going to be sunny once again, so lets get those wheels rolling. Please note the rides will start at 07h30. MTB Pack Ride. We will once again start from Mugg & Bean Durbanville on Saturday at 07h30. The route will be the same 40km route as last week. Wouter de Kock will lead the ride for us. Next weekend there will be a 90km option for the serious MTBers with a 60km option. Road Pack Ride. The Road Pack Ride will take place on Sunday at 07h30. We will start from Mugg & Bean Durbanville and do the same 65km route as last week. Please take care as there will not be a safety car this weekend. Please remember, no light, no ride! Safe Cycling! So the routes were gravel routes between the farms for the Mtb's and Durban Road, Bottelary, left onto R304, left at the silos and back to M&B. Depending on how many people there will be a fast group and a slow group. Anyone welcome, the more the merrier.
  16. Apologies for only responding now, got super busy after my post. Was a great turnout on Saturday. Ride is currently open to anyone and everyone. Had a support vehicle the whole way and the pace was very chill. We averaged 26.5 as we made one 65 km group on the Bottelary/silo loop. The idea is definitely to cater for people that want to go slow as the club has a fair amount of people that is looking for just that. Join up next time and see if you like it, I will post details as it becomes available. Membership is R 250-00 a year and is for all disciplines (running, cycling, tri). You get massive discount at NB stores, but that helps much more on the running side. http://www.newbalanceclub.com/ The DC is only for members and we are looking to enter a racing, social and super social team.
  17. Hi, from my New Balance newsletter. The more the merrier! Due to such a lot of cycling accidents I will be starting a new initiative at the NBMC Road Pack Rides. How I will implement this is not known yet, but the idea is to have a safety/backup vehicle riding behind each of our cycling groups every weekend to be a buffer between the cyclists and approaching vehicles. A captain should lead by example, so I will be fulfilling this role this coming weekend, only difference is that I will have a whip in my hand, he he. This way I hope to attract more riders to our rides as it is a safer environment to cycle in. I do not mind if non members join us at this stage, so bring your friends with. There will be 2 routes to choose from this weekend, a 50km and a 65km and the idea is to play cat and mouse and see who is home first. The 65km will be aimed at the fast and furious and the 50km will be for the fast and easy. All riders (MTB & Road) will meet at Mugg & Bean afterwards where we will have a nice chat and where I will get your feedback and ideas. I will also talk about ideas for Double Century (DC). Safe Cycling!
  18. I know there are many posts about their service, but really want to post what happened this afternoon. I was mailing CWC regarding the tacx trainers. Yesterday I made the decision on the i-vortex that was selling for R 6500-00 and mailed them to ask if its fine if I pre-order on Friday to which the reply was 'no problem'. Logged in today to checkout my shopping basket just to notice that was emptied overnight. When I wanted to fill it up again the price of the I-Vortex went up to around R 8800-00. Decided to immediately drive down to CWC and have a chat with them to see if they can help at all. Spoke with Melanie and she went to speak to Chris jnr. Couple of minutes later she flew out and said there is a person on the phone with Chris that also wants to buy one (at the higher price) and it is the last one. She then told me that Chris said I can have it at R 6500-00 but I must swipe before leaving the shop. First off they could have told me the last one was sold just before I came in and made a extra bit of profit. Secondly they could sold it to me at the higher price, it is their full right to increase the price (obviously the prices are linked to exchange rate). Very ethical and makes me want to spend the extra R 3K there anyway. Did someone say they have workstands for sale?
  19. 2 Oceans half filled up yesterday as well if you wanted to know.
  20. Hi Guys....what a SUPER event! Everything was pretty perfect and amazing route. I have the gpx files for those of you that want it. There also is USB charge station available for free at the event office. Even the alcoholic beverages were for free after each days riding. The bartenders were very disappointed that they had so much stock left at the end of day 2! Food was excellent, free fair cape products during the day including chocolate moose, juice, milk, chocolate milk variety, yogurt. First evenings steak was fantastic and second evening we had prawns, mussels, ribs, fish, calamari....more than I could eat! Lol, I came back 3 kgs heavier after the weekend after a solid 16 hours of riding! I can also recommend Ricardo/Lourens gang for the mechanic service, they helped me lots.

    One Tonner!

Had a great ride. Proved that I can wheelsuck with the best of them! Latched on to MC2 (squared guys) and made up lots of time. Our group must have been an average Argus group size before the gutter. After the gutter it was just me and sluiper (also hubber I heard), nr. E1870 and about 3 others that stayed with them. Was very dead, but chuffed with myself. Unfortunately someone in our engine group their punctured and lots of people got back to the group while they fixed it. My saddle fell off at about 100 km, luckily I got it back on and joined the next group. On top of the hille mc2 stopped for a wee and I only saw them at the end again. First time in a long while that I'm feeling bit stronger on the bike.
  22. Have used it extensively (the open wound one) and I think it is amazing stuff.
  23. thanks Dirtman, awesome info. I do not have ride to Schapenberg just for the trails, my gf lives there and I'm 5 km from the entrance most Fridays to Monday morning. I'll wait until next year you join one of the other clubs as I dont think I'll ride them enough to the end of the year to make it worth it.
  24. cool, thanks. Schapenberg let me know that the R 150-00 per year is valid for 365 days, so I joined this morning. Just waiting to hear back from the others. But tyger sounds like the best choice for now.
  25. So....I will probably be able to ride Schapenberg most weekends, Tygerberg during the week and Bottelary weekends or weekday, but longer ride to get there. Which one is the 'best'? What are pros and cons? Who is offering discount this late in the year? I do ride Majik often and must say I love it.
