  1. Lol - Found this on another forum: 3-Days The first 3 days are the hardest when giving up smoking. This is the time that the nicotine is still in your bloodstream, and telling you that you need another smoke. If you use nicotine replacements e.g. patches, gum, or other, rather than going "Cold Turkey", this may stretch on for longer. During this time you may experience unexplainable aches and pains, from headaches or tooth aches, to stomach cramps and even down to your hair hurting. This is all lies the nicotine is telling you to try and make you have another ciggy. 3-Weeks After 3 weeks you will feel as if you never smoked. Your body will be clean, and you no longer have the need to smoke, or the feeling that you miss it. The smell of smoke is still familiar and nice, but not enough to make you want to have one, and too much smoke (e.g. a smoky bar) can, in fact, be too much. You don't want to smoke any more. 3-Months By this time you have been off cigarettes for so long you believe you are immune. You wouldn't mind having the odd puff with a few drinks, and start to borrow one or two off your mates when out. After a while you think you might just buy a packet for the evening, since you're just going to borrow them anyway. You won't smoke the whole packet. The next morning there is half a packet next to the bed, so you slip this into your pocket and start out your day. Later on in the day you have a ciggy, because you aren't addicted anymore, and can have the odd one. Bang, you're hooked again.
  2. Wish I could make it, but have a friends bday starting at 7 pm.
  3. Hey, you think I'm slow? Ok, dont answer that. Sent to Easybike (where i bought it) and Hannes Zietsman when I started the topic - no reply from Easybike. Hannes gave me his cell phone number so we can arrange to have it fixed when I am in stellenbosch again.
  4. cool idea. will do.
  5. Hi guys and girls. I went for a disastrous ride on Tuesday morning. It started raining 20 min into my ride and I got soaked and I realised that my Magicshine lights are not waterproof......On my way home the little switch got into my spokes and got ripped off! SO I have to questions. How on earth to I open the big lens cover to let the water evaporate? The small ones screwed off easily. How can I reattach the 4 wires with the seemingly impregnable? The light still works, but I can see how far it is from dying and only have one setting....buck hunting mode which taps the batteries fairly quick.
  6. but at least you continue earning bonus points! plus you can upload to your spouse if she cant upload her exercises.
  7. If you have converted it you can upload all your files 1 shot with this app: http://rikara.blogspot.com/2009/04/uploading-old-polar-hrm-data-to-polar.html I just upload my results once a month. Much less effort.
  8. bahahahahhaha, must I post this under the hubbers in need of job thread? http://www.watkykjy.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/gomboom.jpg
  9. Awesome event! Their site still down though.
  10. I thought every race held in SA falls under CSA? Anyway, the works of the membership tannie were 'We are increasing the prices of races to include a temp licence fee for each cyclist entered'. So either of your statements are incorrect. That said I still believe the PPA plays an amazing role in the quality, low cost and seeding of races and we are lucky to have them. Irked though that they want me to collect my licence in Strand or at their HQ. I honestly do not have time to do that.
  11. That is a excellent question and I think PPA might be very sneaky here. They their race will be the same price, doesn't matter if you have a CSA license or not. They pay the fee over to CSA for each and every rider. I'm sure that isn't the idea of CSA and do not know how the can ask you license fee if you are registered....but seems thats the way its going to be.
  12. Nope, but the lady at reception was quit knowledgeable. Giver her a call.
  13. Just phoned them and its going to work as follows: 1. All PPA races will be more expensive but no-one (PPA or not) will have to pay a day license as PPA will pay it over. 2. PPA member or not will have to pay R 35-00 day license to be part of the Burger, construction du cap, knysna or the Argus 3. What you get is seeding in road races and mtb races. For the big races you still should get seeding. Therefor if you are only going to do the big races, no need to join PPA. If you are going to do PPA events and would like seeding. Then join.
  14. *invincible
  15. This is cooler here :-)
  16. If you have a Discovery life policy is almost a no-brainer as you'll get 15% discount on that if you integrate it. You have to use a certain amount on average to maintain it. Then Discovery miles is almost identical to ebucks (remember both are firstrand). Then you get additional discount when you spend your Discovery credit card. FOR eg. I get 20% back from autopage every month. 20% back from a lot a shops like cape union, totalsports, stuttafords, @home. If you buy addidas as Totalsports you get additional 25% discount. Add the short term (but I had clients with very bad clients and I do not like some of the exclusions) and you can get and ADDITIONAL 15% discount on that. E-buck is much more simple and will work if you do not want to worry about all the tests etc.
  17. Nope, 100% sure that you are clean after 3 days. You have to be hot boxed quit severely before it picks up. Actually 3 days with a urine test, might be quicker with the blood test that they are doing.
  18. There is a loophole......you can go for the test after 3 days as you will test clean. You will also begin paying the lower premiums from the next month. With Liberty, Old Mutual and Sanlam you do not have to inform the insurer if you start smoking again. With Discovery and Momentum you have to inform them and switch to the higher premiums again. Should you not inform them of your smoking status the will only pay out the amount of cover you would have received if you were a smoker for similar premium. The official times between the companies vary from 6 months to 1 year, the cotinine test is however the only thing they can go on.
  19. waiting since the 19th. Tracking says 'clearance delay' now. Experience less than stellar.
  20. Interesting article on chantix http://whyquit.com/pr/082506.html Without counselling it doenst give great odd in the longer term. How is it going with the quitters on here?
  21. Different strokes for different okes. I did download sportstracks and didnt get the feel for it. Honestly there is nothing that I can think of that I would one more out of my polar software, if I miss anything, please let me know as I am super analytical and spend hours comparing stuff. Other catch 22 is that I have about 6 years of data on more polar software that I do not want to lose. Guess I can import it to sportstrack? This is also a big gripe with polars new watches. They are moving away from the pc-version to a 100% online version. Guess has advantages, but you will then lose all the data to date. Plus I am not always connected to the web if I quickly want to have a look at something.
  22. You have a tricky one. I think the garmin edge gives a lot of info at once, but according the website the battery lasts 18 hours. My gf watch was supposed to last 8 hours but actually did only 6 hours and after 18 months when the battery failed she heard that the battery cant be replaced......new watch. I do not know the model well but this Polar seems to fit into what you are looking for. http://www.polar.fi/en/products/maximize_performance/cycling/CS500plus http://www.polar.fi/sites/default/files/CS500plus_frontleft_2.png Price is just over R 2K from bikeinn. Honestly I do not know what the issue with the infra-red is. I put my wat next to the stick, it uploads.....what do I care what what technology it use....it works. On the software side i am also bit confused why people say garmin software is better as polars software is from what I know much better. You can compare anything you like, put it on a graph, compare. The the only think that I know sportstracker has, is the age of your equipment. Sportstracker is 3rd party however and available for polar. garmin, suunto, mobii or whatever. Bryton may also be an option or Mobii (think it is a RSA brand). I do not know the models however.
  23. Solly, do you need gps or just accurate measurement of the distance, speed etc? That sunto looks damn fine!
  24. What issues do they have with strap-hr? I have honestly never had a problem.....and been using polars for 6 years.
  25. Lol, good luck with this mine field! I have a polar Rcx800 and love it. According to me it is better than every aspect of Garmin for my needs. People tend to vehemently defend their watches as if it is their offspring though so good luck with a clear and unbiased answer. Head over to www.dcrainmaker.com for indepth review. He only has the polar rcx5 though and for me the rxc800cx is a superior watch. I would say if you do not like to charge your phone after every second ride, do not want to buy a new watch when the battery fail, are very analytical and runs then Polar is best. If you would go off your knocker if you have to strap a gps pod to your arm for gps capibilities, if you are frustrated buy infra-red technology and old protocols (not sure what it means), if you want a prettier day-to-day watch. Go for Garmin. I may have missed important points but please send PM if you have any questions, will gladly help.
