Gents and Ladies, Please be careful, it truly is SILLY season once again. Had a run in with this oke last weekend on Sunday morning, albeit he was on the opposite side, I watched as he stepped into the road as a group of ladies went past him, I do feel they were unawares though. As I passed on the opposite side I slowed down and told him nicely to "urinate off" which only seemed to get him more hyper and more "active" in grabbing his crotch area and waving like a real paedo. I am still fearful that someday he is going to cause a very nasty collision because if a cyclist swerves to miss him and a motorist does not anticipate it(which they wouldn't, I mean why would they), Things could end very badly. I rode slowly the rest of the way trying to find a NHW or armed response vehicle as they are apparently aware of this guy, but to no avail. Please be careful out there ladies and gents.

You reckon Doug would sign Cavs again on a 1 year contract for his new Q36.5 team merely for the media presence and exposure he will receive and the team aswell and then they would almost be guaranteed an invitation to the 2023 Tdf which the new Pro team obviously don't have as yet, especially with Nibali aswell being part of their staff and he himself also Tdf yellow jersey winner. I mean Cavs did amazing things in his 1st season for Di Data which also increased their popularity massively.

Then I only heard after the race that a marshall has sadly passed away? some team was saying they rode past him and he was already covered with a foil blanket, No damage to his motorbike so they assumed it was a heart attack??

Mate was robbed last night just after the start of Alphen Hill at 5:10pm, Just as the road turns left and goes up after the hotel. Taxi came from infront, cut them off, essentially boxed him in with the pavement, passenger got out with a gun, mate dropped his bike and ran across the road onto the grass area. Our other mate who was with him managed to turn around and bolted back down the hill. 2 other friends were further up the road just past the split and never saw the taxi so we assume the taxi came from the Hohenhoort side, straight up to the stop street, then straight over which is where they managed to block my mates. Scary part is i was supposed to be with them but I ran late as I had a puncture at home and had to change a tube first. Same MO as the taxi attcaks on Spaansies so I believe it's too much of a coincidence and therefore it's the same taxi.

Yeah rode it VERY social. 6 DC debutants, 2 of guys haven't ever ridden more than 120kms who were pushed from the very start, don't even ride 200km a week, most of the year not even 200km a month, Rolled over the start line at our start time with 6 guys and stopped 50m up the road to wait for the rest, some still looking for parking, 1 guy with 2 flat wheels, 2 bombs wasted, had to go back to the start area to find the mechanics to pump his wheels up, 1 guy as he pedalled toward the start his small bolt from his RD popped off into the stones so couldn't find it, lucky the mechanic station assisted, Eventually all 12 of us started rolling together 40min after our start time and we were 50m away from the start. Lots and lots of pushing, lots of solo team riding as all slower teams were looooooong gone, 1 crash between the 2 feedzones when some numbnut braked hard Infront of 1 of our riders for NO reason as there was nobody infront of him and our rider headbutted the gravel next to the road, but he got up and soldiered on. We managed to finish with all 12 which was our goal from the time we agreed to ride the DC together. So all in all, a VERY long day out, arms are more sore than my legs from pushing, But I'd do it all over again to be able to see the pure joy on the faces of the 2 guys, both over 100kgs, Both doing their longest ever rides by some margin and both finishing strong.

There are also cameras along Tokai Road aswell which is where the Taxi headed last week to get to the M3 after mugging the other cyclist, But it's up to the victims to go with the cops or whoever and go and view the camera footage.

Big chance that the Taxi owner is not aware of what the driver is doing in the mornings. Their business is simple, X drives the Taxi, The owner of said Taxi wants 2k a day, everything after that the drivers keep as their wages(Now you know why the drive the way they do because they do not earn a set wage. Often taxi owners leave their vans with the drivers as parking all their vans at their house makes them a target for other criminals as they are known to obviously handle large sums of cash. There have been taxi owners in the past who have handed the driver over to the community for "mob justice" when the driver has used the van to commit crimes. I think it is, The Westlake taxi's travel that route. I think they're up early, They do what they've been doing by robbing cyclists before peak hour, then they go drop the bikes in the informal settlement in Westlake (any further would be too risky as there are chances of being caught), then afterwards they go about their merry way of picking up passengers and continue their daily routine.

100%... Everything is the same. Same road, albeit like 300m apart if that, Taxi passes cyclist, 2 guys jump out with knives, Taxi drives away. My assumption would be it's the same group who used to hijack cyclists just further up the road past the Prison, just last year. A security van was then stationed directly where the incidents occurred and nothing has happened since. They also tracked one ladies bike to the Westlake informal settlement. I'm guessing they've now just changed their M.O. They drive up and down Spaanschemat early morning waiting to see cyclists, They then wait for there to be no other oncoming vehicles and then they pounce. I personally cycle that road like 3 to 4 times a week, our group used to ride at 4:30am, this morning they were out riding but were along the main road(which seems safer now as there's alot higher possibility of cars passing, But Spaans is free flowing for cyclists with a "bike lane" which is why it's preferred), a sting operation would be a lovely thing, And then that should make the need and papers so that these thugs catch a wake up. Because at the moment there's zero coverage on bike jackings so they thugs continue on their merry way.

on This, a good friend and riding buddy who lives directly opposite the gate to Rondevlei Sanctuary in Grassy Park forwarded us a VN he received from what I assume is someone in NHW who calmly says "Hi Reyaan, someone has just witnessed a boomslang go into your premises, we have contacted the handlers who will come and search for it and remove it". Good Luck to them because he has a very decent size yard which is loads of grass and plants and trees 🤣
