  1. Here's to hoping that Ryder come out with some new super lightweight, Aero AF road frame and then win the innovations award before next years DC. So far we have received both their award winning products for the DC for 2 years in a row, Let's hope their 3rd year is as successful 😜
  2. Smile and wave, Kill them with kindness.. They love it.
  3. The video showed this thing doing 40/20 intervals it seemed, because after it sat up, it took off at a rapid pace.
  4. Same boat. My hands would be shaking too much and my pants would become to warm!!!
  5. Hahahaha I'm sure a few other cars maybe flattened him more though which may have widened him a bit because I don't skip leg day, it tries to skip me and doesn't succeed LOL...
  6. I believe so yes.. Not much of a other choice I guess LOL...
  7. 2 guys I know personally have bought sets from Crown Cycles. Neither of them have any complaints and are quite happy. Light enough, Good braking surface, well built on Novatec hubs(I speak under correction) and they're fairly popular, so bearings, spokes etc wont be an issue to source when you may need. Assuming after sales will be dealt with by whichever bike shop you purchase them from. But from what I've seen, they're good value for money
  8. Also, this is a screeshot from a video my mate took of a Cape Cobra(Not the cricket player) on the Milnerton Cricket Oval yesterday, a guy tried walking toward it to kinda usher it backwards to the bush which is when it stands up and hisses and then continues across the field...
  9. Saw a MF'er of a Puffadder this morning on the yellow line mid way up the last drag, about 70m from the top) top of Llandudno from Camps Bay side. It was as thick as my leg and about half a metre in length if not more, oh, it was also squished by a car, but blood was still fresh so couldn't have happened more than about an hour before we went past. And this was about just before 9am... The oke infront of me never saw it, i swerved and almost went as far across as the opposite yellow lane(because im literally the scardest oke on this planet) and the oke next to me, like myself, also nearly shat himself proper because we saw it and the 2 guys infront of us didn't. I assume if it was moving he would've seen it though.. But FML, That thing was a proper Fatty...
  10. Well well well... Anybody need lotto numbers? Hahaha
  11. When heading from Town toward the circle, Let's not forget you're almost forced into the middle of the road because as you said, parked cars, drivers bonnets sticking into the bike lane, People opening doors and then also missing drain covers in the bike lane which forces you into the road itself as there is no space at all on the left.
  12. And coming from Town side toward the circle after 9am on weekends is literally a game of survival, Like The Guantlet on MTN Gladiators. If you can get past The Old Biscuit Mill between 9 and 11am without almost becoming road kill, getting side swiped or having people going for breakfast and drinks run into you as they run between the cars, You're truly blessed.
  13. Yooor that place, eish, Always checking my life policies are up to date just before entering that circle(Actually that whole stretch from the foot of the bridge on Liesbeek till i get safely onto the N1. Also, The inability of motorists to indicate correctly at a traffic circle.. Yoh yoh yoh
  14. Might have to disagree here. Mr MachoMan may be physically "tough", But these are the guys who, when the realize the extent of the shi1tstorm that's coming their way and all the legal implications, Will go hide like a 5yr old from the boogeyman under the bed all curled up, Because Mr Physically tough guy is going to look like a real drol when walking in and out of court, and no amount of toughness will save him, And he will realize that his "Mates" will see him at his most vulnerable, saying yes your honor, no your honor in court and only speaking when spoken to and not interrupting and having his own way like he probably does in that group who are all **** scared of him.
  15. So Sorry to hear bro. Any idea where along the M3? That could help you distinguish if the Taxi had turned right onto the M3 from Tokai Road toward Steenberg or left toward Wynberg. Usually Taxi's dont ride off their routes, So if it was a Westlake Taxi, You could possibly go to the circle just before entering Westlake Business Park as they have camera at the security booms, Perhaps the shopping centre on the left also have cameras which can spot passing by vehicles too.
  16. Any idea where the victim from yesterdays incidents Garmin was retrieved? He said that it was found along the M3, So my assumption would be, Taxi stops, Guys rob the cyclist, Taxi heads off down Tokai road, Turns right onto M3 towards Westlake area then up into Westlake Informal area where the bike possibly gets offloaded. Remeber there were a number of incidents outside Pollsmoor last year and the year before with bike jackings and they have since stationed a vehicle there in the mornings, If I'm not mistaken, 1 lady had a tracker and her bike was recovered at a house there. So quite possibly same group/syndicate just with a different M.O.
  17. Good that more people will hear about it, Because I'm sure some family or past friend or aquaintance would perhaps know who this guy is because he seems like an egotistcial douche, and these types are 1, almost guaranteed to have Strava as a bragging tool, and 2, guaranteed to have shown his bike around. So hopefully someone knows someone with a short temper who rides said color MTB. I for one think that perhaps the douche is actually a Hubber and has seen this post and has hidden his Strava ride so nobody can see that he rode on the day and if the ride is hidden, He will not be on the Strava Fly-Bys and segments for that day.
  18. I always ask politely at at robot when catching up to a driver who has sped past me in traffic, "Was it necessary to speed past and dangerously close if we are here at the same time", I've received a few apologies and a few ignorant, arrogant folk who feel they need to be aggressive, I then simply reply with, I doubt you would drive like that if i was on a Scooter or if theres a vagrant pushing a trolley infront of you", and then often just get a blank stare or more aggression because they realize they're wrong. And as Murphys Law would have it, The next 1 or 2kms is filled with traffic lights and they speed past again, and when I pass again, I make sure to smile and wave.
  19. Same thing happened to me last year, Nogals on my Bday. Coming down Alphen Hill, right outside the entrance to Victoria Hopsital, Car flies past and goes hard left just after the parking which is half way down the hill, I slammed brakes, went into the right rear fender, fell into the road. Luckily the lady in the Mini Cooper behind me wasn't speeding as it was peak hour. Anyway, I shouted as I hit the car, the driver who had already turned left, stops in the street, looks in rear view mirror, starts opening his door, sees me getting up, closes his door and speeds off. All this with his wife I assume sitting next to him in the passenger seat, oh, and he was in Navy Uniform. And then 2 weeks ago just past bootlegger in Kenilworth I had the same thing with an Uber, I hear him speed up past me, pulls a hard left about 10m away in the street. Some motorists just don't care, Others just don't understand the speed cyclists sometimes travel at and they have zero depth perception.
  20. Very close friend of mine was right there as it happened. His description: Taxi went passed a gentleman just before the Caltex Garage on the left hand side as you come down Chappies into Hout Bay, Taxi (Avanza) then proceeded to turn left only seconds after passing cyclist and then the cyclist collided with the taxi. He says the sound of bone hitting the van and the tar and the bike and everything van wwas just awful. Cyclists jaw is badly broken, almost all teeth out his mouth. My buddy called the ambulance service who were swift, during this time the taxi driver wanted to "move his vehicle", my buddy assumed he was going to make a run for it so took his keys away so he couldn't. Pic below was taken at the scene. Will remove the pic if admin thinks best, But perhaps someone knows this gentleman.
  21. THIS☝️ Sorry to hear about what happened. Please do share more info like time, MO etc as this is a road I cycle atleast 4 times a week and often solo, also sometimes late afternoon or even early morning.
  22. Surprised they never asked you just to use a camelback.
  23. I don't believe so, But this guy was quite clearly a scammer. I've purchased stuff before from guys with minimal to no forum activities, It's how they conduct themselves that makes all the difference.
  24. Ya no he was special. He's going to send and it will be here in 2hrs, Imagine that. If I booked a courier now to collect something in CT and deliver it in CT, it will probably still take more than 2hrs LOL. Oh, and the courier guys were just going to give my mate his 10k back if he wasn't happy with the bike, So who would have "paid" then and paid to get it back to "Durban" LOL
