  1. Just love the beauty this country holds!
  2. Anybody know anything about an incident at G-spot today?
  3. Absolutely loving my Scott Genius 27.5 FS! Much more manoeuvrable (in my own way), and the plus tyres does wonders for confidence. BUT saying that, I specifically bought the Genius so that I could change to 29 wheels, should I wish to do so in future (and if I can find a decent but affordable set of wheels meeting all the specs!)
  4. Jonkers yesterday (and if anybody picked up a bank card...)
  5. Anybody know if Eden is accessible (gate open)?
  6. Oh the irony...a PIE chart looking like a CHEESE...
  7. I read the back-story of that sub-2 marathon just last night - absolutely fascinating! (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/athletics/50460861) I reckon you'd need to flatten all them hills on the Argust route and then some... World 1 hour record is 56km or thereabouts, on a track - I reckon it would be near impossible to do 109km in 2 hours even on a track.. You'd probably need a course with no wind / tailwinds, mostly downhill, minimal bends & turns... And then you'll need a vegan with the right gearing to launch an attempt...

  9. Please tell me that's a halloween costume...
  10. Happy hound.
  11. Proud (albeit somewhat sheepish) Bok supporter!
  12. Was a well attended event even over two days, which gave moms and dads the chance to ride shorter routes with the family on one day, and longer routes the next... Changed to one day event (and we were told this might only be temporary), and now possibly off the cards altogether? Would be a real shame...
  13. Apologies for the semi- hijack, but also got 'approached' on Saturday in Stellenbosch - on MTB, coming down the contour path just above the hangbrug. We were cycling and had the dog with us, I turned around at the dam to get a few extra kms in. Were commenting on how busy it was...around 10:30am. Next thing I know, a guy (looked like he was on tik or something) was standing next to the big pine trees at the T, with rocks in both hands, already holding another MTB'er ransom. My only option was to try and fly past, as even someone walking at a leisurely pace would probably catch me going uphill. He launched a rock at me (luckily this gave the other guy a chance to make a run for it). Luckily he only hit my rear wheel, severing a spoke or two. This serves as a wake-up call for me, as I regularly ride this route, either alone, with the hound, or with friends. Had there been more of them, it may have been a different story. But I think what p*sses me off most, is that I'm expected to be grateful to have gotten off without any injury or worse...how can we ever make spaces safe to ride in again???
  14. I'm with Roux on the flats...but that's a topic for another thread (oh wait, deja vu!). For me, the ability to instantly get off far outweighs the benefits of being clipped in - but saying that, I'm not gunning for podium. Too many of my friends have scars and bruises from falls purely resulting from not being able to clip out in time - just because they've been taught that real MTB'ers should always ride clipped in... Anyway, see you on the short one (25km) on Saturday. I'll be riding flats. Anyone know if that route goes along the concrete section up by the mast?

While I'm backing the Boks all the way, I also think it won't be a big winning margin...we need to take this team (and the home crowd advantage) very very seriously.
