  1. Ouch
  2. Amen... they're all clean, it's a miracle! Praise baby jesus Luckily all the reformed dopers still intricately involved with all the teams and in control of most of the licenses, sponsors etc are there to show all the kids how to keep it clean. #NextGenDejaVuForTheWin
  3. Let's stop Russian to conclusions
  4. I've bought and sold plenty over the years... generally I deal with people with some track record and even on the very odd occasion something does go a little wrong, things generally get sorted out amicably. An early one was a carbon Raleigh I bought for a mate as a present together with this wife for his 40th.... was sold as 'one careful lady owner' - only to turn out to have been Mannie Heymans race bike. Seller actually had also been duped a bit, as he was getting the parts, but ended up with him paying for a full respray of the bike and it served it's owner well for a good decade in the end. I'd say the most common mistake people make is grabbing a 'bargain' second hand groupset... 8 out of 10 times it's getting upgraded for a reason. Unless it really does have low mileage - treat it as a consumable. Shifters and RD's it's often really tricky to tell how much use they've had. Also sold a set of wheels once that I got on a bike I bought and stripped - kept the frame and flogged the rest... the wheels were very slightly out of tune, but sold them stating as much, only to find out they couldn't be tuned as the spokes had fused to the rims. Refunded the buyer in full in the end, but it was a bit of a time waste for everyone. Like most things in life, communicate, be honest and things will generally get resolved. And if you do encounter an unremorseful douche in the classifieds, please for the sake of everyone, drop them a rating
  5. Seems you have read more into this than you should have...
  6. Thanks everyone for their contributions, insurance money for the year ahead transferred to Martin, so we can sleep well knowing Ricky's bike is safe until March next year
  7. Exacly... Chukky hasn't missed a free smoothie since he was 13 and Mrs Groenwagen hit him with a ruler
  8. They will probably try keep the pricing in line, but reality always dictates that many re-sellers will clear their 6's to stock 7's - and we all score. It's happened every time. And like you say, even if it doesn't, the pricing of the 6 for how it stacks up against the 7... it's really not worth the extra cash in my books. Absolutely love my Fenix 6 - the battery life if awesome and it holds up ridiculously well to the endles whacks it enjoys in being worn daily. Mines still spotless a year in, you can't ask for more
  9. The trick is to buy the Sapphire 6 when it's price drops as the 7 comes out... The 6 is already a ridiculously wonderful piece of kit that ticks every box and some. But we also know you don't listen Scalpel Joe 🤐
  10. Thanks BidDL, we are sorted for the year ahead though - can maybe revisit this again down the line depending on how things go...
  11. Thanks everyone, I think that has it all covered... I'll collect the funds and then transfer to Martin once it's all in. No big rush, we have some time...
  12. Thanks guys, it won't be a lot... probably R1000 for the year at most from the look of it (it's currently just under R80 a month), so between a few of us it really doesn't break the bank. R250 x 4 at this stage...
  13. Just an update from Queen, they are all doing great and Ricky is still riding up a storm on his bike. Have been chatting to Martin (who sponsored his insurance for the bike for the year) and I want to push on the cover for another year just to make sure he's safe out there... maybe if all goes well he won't even be commuting in a years time. I've told Martin he has done more than his share already, so if anyone else wants to chip in with me towards covering the insurance for the year, just drop me a pm. We're going to keep it on Martins insurance for simplicity, but I will just transfer a lump sum to him for the year at the end of Feb Thanks again everyone
  14. They really are a special institution - definitely deserve all the support they can get
  15. So incredibly sorry for your loss Reinet Still wish I'd had the pleasure of a ride and beer with your wonderful husband - he was clearly a special man. At a time when many of us are struggling and feeling the pressures of a world in crisis, your husband gave us all the golden gift of perspective and a reminder of the many things we can all be grateful for. His fighting spirit and sense of perspective will stay with many of us the rest of our lives - and for that I will forever be grateful. Look after yourself and please know this Bikehub mob will always be here for you. Strength to you and your loved ones Reinet RIP Francois
  16. Some more food for thought... Kim Brearley missed cut-off by 4 minutes. 50km's odd from the end, she missed a turn and did I'd guess about 3-4km's off course, and then back-tracked those km's to the route and continued. That definitely cost her a finishers medal. There were two gents just up the road ahead of her, they also went off course at the same spot - but I don't think they back tracked, but cut across to the route (hard to tell as the tracking wasn't regular) I don't think they should have been disqualified, no advantage was gained... but Kim clearly also knew the rules and did what was expected of her to protect her finish. Nobody want's disqualifications, nobody want's controversy - things must just be equal and fair. I recall Hannele Steyn doing an extra 70kms+ the one year as a result of a wrong turn. You can't control the weather or the conditions, but what you certainly can control is the clarity and consistency of rule application. Rules is Rules, if you are racing for what is not small prize money - best you know them PS: None of this should take the shine off an awesome bloody event - call it constructive criticism
  17. The only person Chuck Norris is really scared of...
  18. Maroshell updated... 1.9km from the finish. Kim somewhere inbetween, no update for 18minutes on her tracker
  19. I sadly don't think either of them did... probably could hear the finish line at the very least. So sad for them, but what epic rides... crazy vasbyt to fight those last 100kms. That wrong turn ultimately the difference for Kim as well. Gutted for them all
  20. Bummed there is no feed... these people are legends in their own rights. Probably not even 2km's short in a journey of 1152km... serious heart break hotel Absolute champs, every one of them... and I am sure they will all take away a lot more than just a medal from this.
  21. Damn... not looking good all of a sudden. Cmon ladies!
  22. 9.3km's for Maroshell... unlikely, but not impossible! C'mon!
  23. Tracker just updated... 6km's in 26minutes, should be good!
  24. Going to be seriously touch and go for Kim Brearly... really sad for the 4 ladies behind who can probably smell that finish line, but time is not on their side
  25. Man this is hard to watch... C'mon ladies, last big push!
