  1. That's IOL for you. Not even worth using to wipe your arse with if you run out of two ply.
  2. Read post 1010 above. Answer is no. Unless you can ITT 109km at an average speed of 36.34kph. On a road bike.
  3. Too true, Wannbe. There is very little appreciation of exactly how hard it is to do a sub 3, even seeded in B, C or D. It's not the pace down the Blue Route or along Main Road to Simon's Town that determines the difference between 2:59:59 and 3:00:01 or say 3:05. The surge at the top of Smits, the pace past Cape Point, the surge at the 4 ways at Slangkop, the pace through the toll gantry at Noordhoek. Miss any one of those and you are not going to see 2 in front of your time. And when I say it's a surge, the difference in pace in any of the 4 points I mention is massive for the sub 3 crowd and the 3:05 crowd. Ride Suikerbossie in more than 7 minutes and you've burnt the toast. That is 1.1 km at an average of 7% and 1km at an average of 5%. After 2:35 on the bike already. Last year a record 886 riders did a sub 3 in perfect conditions. Another 384 took another 5 minutes and another 503 took 5 minutes more. As many riders took 10 minutes extra as did a sub 3. Not every one of those 887 riders were dropped at some stage in the race but I would say at least 95% of them were. Don't get dropped anywhere to have a chance even if in B, C or D. In 1M you will be in the wind the whole route. Read above about Suikerbossie. So Wannabe is totally accurate when he says the chances from 1M are about the same as Zuma resigning soon. The seeding is roughly accurate and you will be (edit stating) starting with riders who can do a 3:15 to 3:30 but cannot sustain the pace at the required level where it matters. And that's not on the flats or downhill sections. But as it's sport and we love the unpredictable, go ahead and prove my analyses wrong. Edit: spelling
  4. Goodie bags have been poorly affected by the internet age. There are not as many really arbitrary magazines on esoteric subjects published and printed these days to go "stale" and end up as out of date pre Argus reading.
  5. Do you think the contractors found a loop hole in their contract to do whatever work they are doing and get paid BY THE MINUTE rather than by the metre? It's been so long I'm sure we have all forgotten what the original objective was. Or maybe it is the same guys who started this road and then forgot to come to work one day:
  6. As I said in my very first reply to you ALL DEALERS PAY for EVERY advert place on the hub. Every single advert. As I also said, that is how the hub pays the bills. As I also said, this has been discussed in the thread, As I also said you would know IF YOU BOTHERED to ACTUALLY READ the thread. Then I was called drunk and product of mr zipper zoompie's educational system, whatever that is. Remember?
  7. Is jy gesuip? Dom bliksem? product of mr zipper zoompie's educational system? Skelm? Serious illusions of grandeur? Dumbass? Your ad hominem attacks are very amusing, please keep them coming. I merely pointed out some sympathy for your inability to read a thread and then make suggestions that would result in the hub not being free to users any longer. Which have been discussed in threads a number of times. Not only this thread. Would you like a version you can understand down on the farm? I'm sure I can interpret my comments for you. Meanwhile, here's a nice quote for you.
  8. I haven't read the thread because I'm either too lazy to read or I can't read but I'll make a really stupid suggestion anyway that has already been discussed and rejected by ADMIN a number of times. Yeah, I must be drunk is quite ingenious. Well done.
  9. Shame, poor little you. Perhaps read the thread BEFORE giving us your 2 cent opinion. You might then realise EXACTLY how advertising on the hub works. And before you say chill, do us a favour and read threads BEFORE you comment on them as you'll learn quite a bit about the topics that the threads cover. Then remember that the hub is free, yes free, to you because people like me pay for advertisements. If you are going to exclude my adverts because I'm a dealer then it's not worth me paying to advertise. How much are you going to pay ADMIN to be a hubber so he can keep the site running?
  10. Oh praise be to someone, proper racing is back on most weekend afternoons. It has been missed.
  11. Remember Villagers? And alternating 2 hours of English and Afrikaans.
  12. You can get points on Polar or Garmin, not trainerroad or strava. If you do not have a Polar or Garmin you can use the Apple watch. What belt do you wear to record your heart rate?
  13. Please buy something from me. It will be great to get some rondts in exchange for replying, yes, it's yours when you pay. In the last 6 days I've had 7 of these. 1 sent the POP and got his goods next day. Others have just disappeared in the ether. Funny old world we live in.
  14. Like these. Get the angle right and it's like sailing....
  15. That's new to me, delete comments in adverts. I must look for that.
  16. I guess replying Yes, it is available sends shock waves through the system and they see, No, it's sold. Must be the spam filter that changes words.
  17. What about the things that matter in the title? Like frame size? Like length of crank arm? Like BCD and BB on crankset? Like shoe size?
  18. Buying and selling is always a challenge when it involves pre-owned goods. What we see here is buyers being let down. Sellers have little harps to plat as well. I the past 8 days I have received, both by PM or direct email correspondence like this: "Is the xxxxx xxxx still available?" I respond immediately with a yes and details on how to acquire said xxxx xxxx. Then nothing. My question is why go to the trouble of sending a mail asking about the availability if there is no intention of follow through? It's not an ethics thing but it is just plain silly.
  19. That is very very scary. Heal up well Barry
  20. Wind does have a huge impact on about 350 riders in sub three stakes. Last year on what was probably the most perfect day ever for the Argus (typical with me in hospital) around 850 guys klapped a sub 3. In a not so perfect day with a little southeaster blowing 500 is close to the cut off.
  21. For the first time ever I have no worries about the wind. I'll be sheltered the whole way round sitting really close to the Guy in front of me, letting him take all the wind. This tandem malarkey is great.
  22. 3 weeks to go and the wind is mentioned. Gee whiz guys. I wonder why the credible weather sites only do a nine day forecast. That changes twice a day.
  23. Has anyone been able to pair a HRM to the Polar Beats app in IOS that is not the Polar H7 belt? Obviously BLE not ANT HRM.
  24. Come Argus every man and his dog pitch, around 750 who can do a sub 3, compared to around 1,000 who pitch for most other rides. Money has nothing to do with $ seeding, your index is just not low enough compared to the 200 riders who are seeded $. Simple maths in this case, not ANC tender ethics.
