  1. I received my first batch of American Classic 101 29er rims today. What a gorgeous looking black aluminium rim with plain subtle AC branding. Lighter than the Crest but reputed to be much stiffer, I can't wait to build up a few sets to see how they perform. 25mm external width, 21mm internal width and 18mm deep. Just weighed a few samples. 101 came in at 375g, Crest 402g. Both 29er 32 holes. http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server1100/j3yxlj/products/61/images/347/58612__46719.1370534095.1280.1280.jpg http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server1100/j3yxlj/products/61/images/348/ac-101rim-1__12243.1370534097.1280.1280.jpg http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server1100/j3yxlj/products/61/images/349/101-mtb-rim-angled_1__79179.1370534099.1280.1280.jpg http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server1100/j3yxlj/products/61/images/350/RIMM0807__67808.1370534102.1280.1280.jpg

  3. Some photos of a future mtb star? Weekend at SA Champs. And the bike!
  4. Don't think they'll climb this again? It's getting done twice on the same day this year!
  5. The only thing that is missing is the VR Trainer with real life video - kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
  6. You don't think €5 million a year has anything to do with it? No one's going to pay him what Saxo Tinkoff pay him.
  7. You won't need a ship to come in, just a dingy!
  8. On my website http://Www.carbon29er.com or drop me a pm and I'll call you. Rob
  9. SA Champs. Darn predictive text. Sorry
  10. Frans Grotepass, riding his BOOTH 650b raced to the podium in the half marathon at the SA Champs today at Hazyview. Frans races an all carbon BOOTH 650b with SRAM XX1 groupset, XX brakes, SID XX fork, ZTR Medallist wheels with Rocket Ron TL ready tyres. Bike weighs in at 8.31kg in race trim. Well done Frans!
  11. Yes, both hard tail and dual suspension.
  12. Pre-order 29er rims, I suppose I can add 700c too if the demand is there. 29ers R5,200 a set 700c road - well it depends on depth and type - take the LB price and multiply by 10 and a bit and add 15.4% https://www.bikehub.co.za/index.php?app=hubmarket&module=core&do=view_item&item_id=50400&new=1 http://www.light-bicycle.com/light-bicycle/wider-carbon-mountain-29er-rims-clincher-tubeless-compatible/tires-tubeless.JPG
  13. I have put a pump on my bike so the helpless breakdowner can pump his/her own tyre if they run out of bombs....
  14. For years I have not carried a tube, only Stans and puncture repair kit. But recently I burped my tyre on a carbon rim and soon realised I would not be reseating it on the trail. So, do I now carry a tube or just run slightly higher pressure so it doesn't burp again?
  15. Warmup time for June 29. I loved this clip, the commentary is just top draw. At 40 seconds in: Duffield: Has he got a problem? Roche: No No No, Legs Duffield: Legs are gone As if legs don't constitute a problem.
  16. Shimano shifters are available with i-spec which clips onto the brake housing but as SRAM make the hydraulic bits don't hold your breath that you'll be able to use one clamp per side.
  17. And boy does it look hard! Elite men's road race to remember Franco Ballerini The organisers of the 2013 world road race championships have unveiled the final routes for the time trial and road race events, confirming that the Elite men's race will remember the late Franco Ballerini by passing the cemetery where he is buried. Angelo Zomegnan, the head of the organising committee, revealed details of each of the race routes, confirming that the races would also pass in the shadow of the spectacular Florence Duomo and cover the testing climb up to Fiesole. "These will be a special, unique world championships, combining great racing with the unique beauty and history of Florence and Tuscany," Zomegnan said during the presentation. "The Elite men's will pass the cemetery where Franco Ballerini is buried in Casalguidi. I think it's the right way to remember Franco. He was one of the people who inspired the successful bid to host the world championships in Tuscany." Zomegnan confirmed reports that the road races will be tough and selective. The Elite men covers a total distance of 272.5km, while the women's race will cover 130km. "The road race course is one of the hardest for many years and will provide some spectacular racing," he said. There are more than 3000m of climbing, as much as in a mountain stage at the Giro d'Italia or the Tour de France. The total distance during the 11 circuits around Florence in the Elite men's race add up to 58.650km of climbing or 30% of the distance covered on the circuit. The road race championships will be held between September 22-29, with the team time trials for men and women opening the week of racing.

  22. This was a custom set, white ZTR Crest rims, red Project321 lefty hub, red Hope evo ProII rear hub and blue nipples. Standard custom build is a lot cheaper. The better the hub the greater the investment.
  23. The Fox CTD does a great job but it is relatively expensive in comparison to the Monarch RT3. I have started using Monarch RL recently, it has a lock out and an open setting, seems to make sense to either need suspension or not need it. I really think the shock designers have lost the plot with the rider having to select a suspension setting for each terrain.
  24. I agree with you, no pundit comes close to Sean Kelly and his insights and how he reads a race. Dave Harmon is certainly my favorite lead caller. It was awesome when Stephen Roche was on Eurosport too. Carlton Kirby and Dan Lloyd are not perfect but are streets ahead of the Lance man love club life presidents, PnP. Ideal scenario would to find a Eurosport audio feed and watch the pictures in HD. Too bad the Eurosport audioplayer hasn't worked for a couple of years now.
  25. Carlton Kirby.taught by the great David Dufflield, poached by Sky Sports from Eurosport this season.
