  1. These were vegetarians. Not vegan. As far as I am concerned they only share some foods. Worlds apart. Vegetarians? I get that. And understand. Radical vegans? Nope.
  2. Calcium. https://www.pezcyclingnews.com/toolbox/calcium-intake-for-cyclists/
  3. Balance. That is what is needed.
  4. Meaning that we should be able to digest cellulose. Like the ruminants.
  5. I have NO idea why. But I woke up today with THIS song in my hear.
  6. When you love someone it is easy to overlook obvious (for others) flaws. If you believe in a certain cause, the same applies. Take Islamic suicide bombers see the 70 virgins on the other side waiting for them. Other people see the obvious flaws in this belief. Before and during the second world war anti-Semitic movies were screened in Germany. This is called propaganda. They even had a minister of propaganda. Goebbels. Millions believed it. For the outsider the flaws were obvious. Like said before diet choices need not be binary. Posting youtube videos of cows being slaughtered is not the norm. That is why others see it as propaganda. Posting a study by a few okes lacks perspective. You have already posted your scorn for dietitians. Once you start to learn the difference between knowing something and understanding concepts, you might see it in a different way. Then again, some people never understand. Diet info has a very short half life. Meaning that diets prescribed 10 years ago might be contentious today. One prof once said that he had failed a few students for facts that we know now to be wrong. History has a cruel way of repeating itself. It is like a swinging pendulum. Trying to push a certain agenda with shocking media is called propaganda. A prime example of that is the Gillette ad. Suddenly masculinity is toxic. Because a few assholes beat their wives, trying to engage with nice girl is now not cool.
  7. A statement in bad taste. More harmful to the 'cause' than Gillette keelhauling male clients. Makes me think of a statement by an old guy when his opinion was asked on "fighting for peace". His answer: Fighting for peace is like f@cking for virginity. A few things I do not get about vegans is the fakeness. Food that looks like meat. WTF? Food that tastes like meat. Ditto. Less environmental impact. And then you fly your fake food around the globe with A1 jetfuel. Ditto.
  8. Gillette shaver only if virtue signalling advertisements does not irritate the cr@p out of you
  9. A lot has changed. Electronic shifting GPS monitors are commonplace You may participate as a women Vegans started to sprout up, thus brussel sprout flavored recovery drinks Pack the charger for your ebike Tim Noakes is not cool any more. Tramadol is off limits If you are not riding with a Watt-meter you cannot tell everybody around you how hard you are riding Don't wear your Livestrong arm band. Or your Power balance bracelet.
  10. This person isn't particular on foot hygiene...
  11. Crazy group B rally driving. Lancia delta S4- I would have given my left nut for a Lancia. And local guys like Jan Hettema and Sarel van der Merwe
  12. Mind blowing indeed. Bicycles in need of a licencing fee. Collecting tax for the bureaucracy.
  13. This one is for you. Please feel free to ask if you need an explanation.
  14. Nogal Mohamed himself
  15. "However in several large studies from Taiwan a vegan diet was not associated with favourable cardio-metabolic risk factors compared to the control diets." This quote was from the study YOU quoted. One of the things you learn when you study for a DEGREE is to read the complete study. Not just snippets that suit your religion. When you do a masters degree you learn to quote only review articles and editorials. Otherwise the professors will rip you apart. A meta analysis is also worth it. Especially if you read the "However" part.
  16. You know it all, don't you. No use arguing with google experts.
  17. My wife is a dietitian. They also have to figure out if the patient can afford the prescribed diet. A vegan diet in a country like South Africa is only for the rich. 'The Economist' does not include 95% of the population of the world. Millennials will lead the way?
  18. Agreed. Vegan is being MARKETED as do-gooder attempt to save the earth. The easiest way to save energy (and reduce a carbon footprint) is to set the aircon to 22deg or even 25 deg in summer. And heat up the building to 16 deg in winter. Yes, it will be a bit less comfortable. But you will do a heck of lot more than importing wonderfoods all over the planet with A1 jetfuel. The other really easy way is to drive SLOWER. And travel less. Much less. But the above unfortunately does not have marketing value. Neither does it have virtue signalling effects.
  19. Voor die tyd dat woorde soos cholesterol en Ivomec bestaan het
  20. My oupa het NOOIT maer diere geslag nie. Hy het gese hul is vol parasiete. Sieklik.
  21. One of the problems of SJW posts is that it lacks perspective. Like the picture of the migrant baby washing out on the seashore. One picture creating a total chaos in Europe. I can argue that the shooter is a real schmuck. And that adds credibility to the anti hunters fraternity. And then I can also argue that all vegans, environmentalists, and animal rightists are Nazis. Because Hitler was a vegetarian. And Bunny huggers are Nazis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_welfare_in_Nazi_Germany I see some nice names in the wiki article. Goebbels, Himmler, Goring. Do we thus conclude that environmentalists, animal rightists and vegans are crazy militants? Because we "know what kind of people Himmler, Hitler and Goring were". Hence my reasoning that inflammatory posts like that lacks perspective.
  22. Sorry, but I have not met her.
  23. Animals are not like Kruger Rands. They don't last forever. Once an animal starts to loose condition, it might be better to cull/hunt it. We don't know the whole story.
