  1. ja, sadly it seems to be the case. like what is the point of this so-called curfew? if you are not at work as an essential service provider, you are meant to be at home ANYWAYS? initially i was hoping that the curfew would be in reference of being outside in your neighbourhood, like within the 5km radius, which to me kind of makes more sense when read together. but alas, as we know, common sense is not so common... just got word that I have to report back to work on Monday, so my hypothetical situation just became a reality it seems. happy to be back at work, not happy that i cannot walk my dog under said regulations.
  2. I have a Dell g3 3579 i7 gaming laptop. It was decent spec when i got it, but as these things go, its now almost ancient... Installed FarCry2 last night so going to give that a go. Might dabble in the Assassins Creed genre, or possibly Wolfenstein, ill see.
  3. the boredom is finally getting to me, tired of my PS3, so i hooked up my gaming laptop to my 42inch in the study, and now im ready to game. what are we playing? can I join in? strategy or FPS... otherwise its me and Age of Empires...
  4. thanks for all the messages guys, much appreciated. Quintus and I are slowly adapting to the massive hole left, he appears a bit confused, not quite his exuberant self. I have my moments, somehow theres one song on my gym playlist that triggers me into a bit of a red mist/crying sesh, it helps with my one-rep max effort... (I have a home gym thank God...) i have a question though regarding this evening's announcement: if you are working then you wont be able to make use of the exercise window to walk your dog between 6 and 9: this is my interpretation, which if it is correct, doesn't seem reasonable? or am i barking up the wrong tree?
  5. I had to make that drive to the vet earlier. She was no longer herself, lying in a heap and breathing heavily. The tumor on her leg had become the size of an orange. The sight of her lying in a heap not doing anything just using all her energy to keep breathing was not how I think she would want to live. RIP my Princess Xena.
  6. Jip. I feel the same way. Its a pity really, but it is what it is.
  7. dis GLAD nie krieket nie... jammer om te hoor ou maat!
  8. Yesterday i woke up with the idea that today was going to be the day. Got up and fed the pooches, and to my surprise she ate much better than the preceding day or two. Watched her closely and it seemed as if she was just having difficulty passing a stool, which led to her being almost herself after that. With the rain she cuddled up to me on the couch and that was that, im not quite taking that drive yet. Then the mindgames started: how i almost made an incorrect decision to end her life. That thought is still playing in my mind as i type this; it just seems too big a decision for a human to make. On 29 March 2018 i had to put my Rambo to sleep. His suffering was more obvious and the decision was “easier” - his breathing became problematic as a result of lymphoma and his appetite had gone. Quintus, my new pup (he is 2 in May), i worry how he will cope with losing his “mommy”. I worry about these things because my rotties are my life subsequent to my divorce in 2013 and the many failed attempts at having human relationships with potential partners. It is what it is. Apologies for the unhappy post, it helps talking about it.
  9. There's something about Mary is on while im faffing around on the laptop... piss funny movie! haha
  10. Sorry for your loss ???? @Frosty I fear that dreaded drive to the vet is fast approaching for my Xena as well, bloody cancer. The last couple of days things are going backward pretty noticeable and im hating every minute of it.
  11. So i built a little agility course to help alleviate their and my lack of daily walks. Its not much but it is better than nothing.
  12. My thoughts are with you. I had to put my first rottie to sleep 2 years ago to the day. He had cancer in his lymph nodes, and his breathing became more of a gurgling sound. Driving him to the vet, i was pissing my eyes out. Holding him while he was injected was worse, seeing his body go limp and his breathing stop. Finally got back to my bakkie and i collapsed, crying uncontrollably. The drive home to face the remaining rottie was torture, it started raining and i took Xena for a run in the rain, talking to her and saying Rambo is running in doggie heaven, with all the other doggos. About 4 months later i got a new male, from one of the more reputable breeders in CT. Xena is still with me, albeit at 9,5 yo and carrying cancer in her front leg. She is not in pain, however a tumor has formed on her joint where the cancer is present. Quintus ran over her last year and she fractured the leg, xrays revealed the bone was weakened because of said cancer. She still has lots of energy and able to do most things she always did. Every morning i get up and am thankful that she is still alive, but i dont think she will see out 2020. When she is unable to climb on my couch and her appetite goes, ill have to make that drive again... I live alone with my dogs. They are my world. Losing one is absolute torture. I wish all of you doggie parents much love.
  13. jarrrrrr that is super kuk...
  14. haha... i get what you are trying to do. however it is my understanding that you order the wheels on Rapide's website and they basically arrive completely built with rim tape and all. all that I have to do is install tyres+sealant and then fit them... I just remembered I have a set of bondrager tyres that I got for mahala from a fellow Hubber when I bought his SLX XT brake levers...
  15. i have more than 1 LBS within a Driver and a Wedge from my house...
  16. your opinion on tyres: stick the 2.2 contis on the 30mm wheels or get something slightly wider, like an Ardent 2.3? i dont want tractor tyres...
  17. Just checked the clearances, looks fine i reckon? About 10mm between tyre edge and chain/seat stays. More on the fork. Thats with my current setup of the 22mm Big Nine Pro D rims and Conti Mountainkings 2,2 front and back. Should be fine, what do you reckon?
  18. Ja im also around 105kgs. Had a big off late last year, no serious injuries but took a proper tumble and ive been nervy as hell eversince, so much so that i do most of my rides on tarmac on my donkey. Ive got Conti Mountainkings 2,2 on, very aggressive tyre in my view, coming from Maxxis Ardent, and the handling has been very twitchy, or maybe its just me being a nervous nelly. Either way, im sold on the 30mm Rapides. Just waiting to see what happens now at work, this is my bonus month and all, but after Cyril’s speech, it will be interesting to see what happens at work tomorrow. I was so looking forward to getting a new set of wheels, lets hope there’s still a chance!
  19. p i e l e........ your comment is really reassuring!
  20. ja i echo your questing. i never struggle to install and seat Maxxis tyres, Vitoria Saguaro on the other hand....
  21. i feel your pain, i have had similar issues with certain tyre brand; seating them as well as keeping them inflated. i had to reseat the conti's i have on at the moment about 3 times, almost used up the medium sized bottle of stans! im getting one of those pumps with the reservoir, the Lezyne Overdrive https://bike-addict.co.za/collections/pump/products/lezyne-pressure-overdrive-tank-pump are you saying these pumps are not as effective as they proclaim it to be? you might just save me a couple of bob... another question: are you saying your struggles to seat the tyre is a Rapide Rim issue, or a 25mm wide rim issue?
  22. awesome, thanks for everyone's replies, i guess 30mm's it is! I will keep you posted!
  23. lekker, thanks!
  24. ill have to measure it to confirm, but ive run 2.3 tyres previously without any clearance issues. I will however come back with a number when I get home later.
