  1. Cam Wurf is happily doing both. Going for runs after serving as domestique for Ineos in some big events... 🤷‍♂️
  2. The elite cannibal cages with the rubber thingy grabs any bottle when not taken straight out. Took me a while to get used to removing bottles as the cage grabs on if you put any sort of twist on the bottle. I suspect that twist motion is also how bottles bounce out as I've not lost a bottle with these cages.
  3. Leave car in FH, get family to pick you up in Hermanus. Do a Sunday recovery ride to FH to pick up your car. 😆 PS. 100% typed this as a joke, but it's looking like a good idea to me...
  4. Comparing equal positions the bar tops will always be in the wind and round is slow...
  5. Why would you think that?
  6. Moving on. His IG really reads like a man that did not believe this was coming...
  7. Absolutely. I feel the same. I have two young daughters and the very thought that an adult with influence over minors could abuse that position is horrifying. Most likely SNB is guilty as sin. I would have just preferred to live in world where such serious misconduct findings are reported with 0% details shared (instead of the 10% we got) and criminal guilt is then swiftly established.
  8. "It's against policy for coaches to murder their athletes. We found coach X guilty of breaching of this policy" Surely that reads as a problematic statement, no?
  9. They have found him guilty of misconduct and then proceeded to declare the nature of the misconduct which happens to be criminal. They gave no details on criminal proceedings. They say lifetime was not appropriate, what are the mitigating factors then? @IceCreamMan is right. In a parallel universe CSA would've given the details of the ban, stressed that serious misconduct has occurred and that criminal proceedings is underway, given no further information regarding the findings, and urged the public to wait for due process. Some on this forum are ready for statutory rape verdicts!
  10. To quote the video "I don't care about what looks fast, I care about what IS fast"
  11. My problem with cold weather gear at a race is always shedding and stashing later into the race...
  12. Maar nou hoekom ry jou bakkie en nie jou roller nie?
  13. After trail-by-fire introduction to gravel at Houw Hoek and Gallows I'm keen for "gravel bike friendly"! Just hoping I'm fully cleared from illness and won't have dead legs after all the downtime...
  14. Super stacked field. Wouldn't mind a good showing from Mohoric and Van Avermaet.
  15. Most people have a very similar cycling efficiency, hence all of us using the same value that makes calculations easier. Won't be off by much. "off by 1000" remember food Calorie (Cal) is 1000 physics calories (cal). Stupid yes, but just the way it is...
  16. Yes, but you are not done. You did it all perfectly, but if you are doing conversion to kcal it's because you are looking at energy derived from glucose and relating it to work performed on a bike.
  17. But to perform 4184 J of work on a bike most people need to metabolise 4.184 kcal of glucose. 1 kcal for the work as you calculated, and the rest for heat and noise and for some bobbing their heads up and down aimlessly for some reason...
  18. Fingers crossed for good luck yes, but yeah referring to Houw Hoek where the pros (or was it only one pro?) and strong dads put 2 min into me in the opening 9km due to a bottle neck into a dismount into a technical rocky descent. I'm very much a roadie, and not used to a race getting away from me so quickly and easily!
  19. Just saw on their IG the river crossing is a dry river bed, so sandy and big stones, but at least dry feet.
  20. Yes, unfortunately. 🙈 Might reduce the pressure a bit. Will measure and consult the Silka Gods
  21. I'm just hoping to not repeat Houw Hoek start. The route description of the opening 25km (squeeze into hosepipe, off-camber fast turn, dismount river crossing, fast descent with gnarly bumps...) has me concerned though...
  22. Agreed. They should have done some low cost bids for ads targeting WC based people with a cycling interest. Can't be that expensive, and the videos are really cool.
  23. Satellite and streetview shows you will have to stick close to the dam and only get on Voortrekker where this route shows a u-turn and where the blue route also comes out.
