  1. Email said past DC performances are looked at, and then also seeding ladder, so basically they make it up as they see fit. We (mens team) seem to be seeded based on our time from last year riding as a mixed-team... 🤷‍♂️
  2. With 3 of them seeded in the top-10 this little sub-competition has almost become as redundant as the white jersey at the TdF...
  3. Got the seeding email just now, but still left guessing as to relative start order and what teams are around us...
  4. You probably did it wrong...
  5. Don't think recumbent bikes are allowed...
  6. From Gr R already. That's great. Investigating right now!
  7. It probably does improve your odds, but the thread revival was about an incident where the last member of a group was taken out which is just absolutely disheartening. 🙁
  8. That time of year! Specials on nutrition:
  9. From the results it looks like shifting the curve to the right was required... What's up with F-group? Some monster times posted from multiple riders!
  10. No 100 Miler on mine, but Durbie Dash and One Tonner showing. Yoh, they were heavy handed with the adjusted winner time for One Tonner!
  11. Very conservative yes 😜
  12. Poor reporting, but nice footage.
  13. Can guests ride without their sponsoring main member present? Are guests fixed to a membership or is it up to 3 guests at any one time? Trying to understand if it's a weird 4-person membership or truly single membership with a guest system to just remove admin of day-permits and foster exclusivity.
  14. Oros contains non-nutritive sweetener. I think Energade also. Powerade is not terrible. The electrolytes are good, the vitamins unnecessary but not a problem, and the carbs are there (albeit on the low side).
  15. Did you get a team? My club still has spots on the 6hr team.
  16. Just in time for seeding run on the next event, which is DC in three weeks.
  17. Still a problem. Using cars after a mechanical should be the only blind eye situation. If you're dropped you're dropped.
  18. There really should be a blockade on cars until the T-junction after this climb yes. Same with Hels actually.
  19. The art of the break formation. Reference line is the eventual break of the day, red is the peloton, and purple is @Sid the Sloth Pictures shows from start of Hels till just outside Wellington. The first ramp of Hels was fast and you can see Sid getting a small lead, but 35 riders manged to survive the climb. Many attacks and counterattacks. On Wemmershoek Rd (45km into the race) the break went. Looks like a few times the bunch started making small progressing on bringing it back in response to Sid trying to bridge (a few from other riders also it seems). Then Sid got separation (video's on Insta confirms) but gap was already 1min40 and it held steady. When the bunch caught him the elastic to the break snapped well and truly and it's almost instantly another 40s in favour of the break up to 2min20. 38 minutes that were crucial to the outcome of this race.
  20. With only electrolytes in the bottles there's a large component of under-fueling here also. Sounds like you consumed about enough for 1 hour of moderate endurance exercise only.
  21. For sure. And to take it one step further, the breakaway from the A-group is the safest spot to be in! 😁
  22. Those bumps are treacherous and it's not an easy obstacle to effectively communicate within a bunch since you can actually ride over it. A-group were doing double elbow flicks like a flock of chickens but some were still caught off guard and took a small wobble.
  23. Sit in front and nullify the surges with that newfound all-day power 💪
  24. Are we allowed to mention the weather, or is that sure to jinx it?
  25. I mean helmets weren't even compulsory back then, so we're really talking "old days" yes!
