  1. The girlfriend also roasted a Michillen Megamium 2 on the indoor trainer. Complained about having to take the little black rubber spots off the wall. Personally I use really dodgy cheap Maxxis Detonator tyres on the indoor trainer. Found their hard compound doesn't get that soft easily (but they are terrible for road use)... my 2c smileys/smiley9.gif
  2. Everyone seems to swear by F'zik Arione for mtb's. Wouldn't mind one as well, just don't have the money for one now smileys/smiley5.gif
  3. Lea Holland at Bowmans in Cape Town did a brilliant job on my older Hope C2's.
  4. While ANDRE L and myself won mdk555's tandem time trial having never ridden together before, tandem partnerships require a good deal of understanding. My girlfriend owns 1/2 of a tandem along with a good friend of hers, and we (after doing a few races together) decided for the sanity of the relationship not to ride together. I'd much rather shotgun for the tandem on my single bike, and offer a push when they need it. That said, tandems are good fun, and some nice bargains can be found for under R10k!
  5. Orca: I share your pain. I bought a 21" Blur at a bargain because the seller couldn't find anyone else tall enough to buy it (Santa Cruz's website says for a 21" Blur you need to be 1.84m tall or more!) amoryns: Maybe phone Donald from Produx and find out about a custom carbon fibre frame. At R7500 it's good value for money, and I can't think of anything better than a custom frame in colours of your choice smileys/smiley2.gif
  6. Use 9 speed campy gears but with shimano spacers...? Might not work out cheaper though. Those hybrid clusters are around $80 USD last time I looked smileys/smiley5.gif
  7. You had to bring that up didn't you!!! Evil bastard! Going to go cry now smileys/smiley5.gifsmileys/smiley5.gif...
  8. This is proof there is hope for the likes of me and Marius smileys/smiley2.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif
  9. Yes' date=' we will ask BikeMax and stulemanski to draw pretty pictures for you.. [img']smileys/smiley2.gif[/img]
  10. Hahaha I wish! No, both Leon at CMC and Jan at High Street said I sit too high, so it was a concern. And why weren't you on my wheel there?? smileys/smiley2.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif
  11. Here's a question. I've been riding my bike (59cm Litespeed Ultimate) with my saddle at the same height for the past 2years. I have no discomfort (lower back pain, knee problems or any of that) and prefer a lower front end (see pic - I'm 2nd in blue) I've now been told by two LBS's that I sit to high. Especially Jan of High Street Cycles have come up to me twice in rides saying "you sit way too high" and insists I should sit 1cm lower. Think I should listen or stick with what I know feels good?? Advice? Commens?
  12. Just the Outriders coffee ride on Saturday I suspect. Supposed to taper for SA Track Champs next weekend in Durban... smileys/smiley11.gif
  13. I've spent a weekend in Worcester...the hangover was something phenominal. Can't imagine training with something that painfull!
  14. You've been spending to much time in Bowmans again haven't you!! smileys/smiley2.gifsmileys/smiley2.gifsmileys/smiley36.gif
  15. SantaCruz Blur...smileys/smiley2.gif
  16. So how's your sister? I just bought a pair of Campy Vento's...not a bad wheel for under R2000 for the set and they seem strong as hell. And not that heavy...I think 1750gr.
  17. You're a really lucky person. My first question when it comes to wheels are "whats the weight limit' date=' not the weight!?" [img']smileys/smiley5.gif[/img] Even the only Zipps I can ride are the 404 Clydesdales. Oh the choices you skinny lads & ladies have!
  18. Speak to BikeMax about a set fo Reynolds Alta's then rather. I tried a set and couldn't break them. 1.5kg's, nice deepish rim and strong as all hell. I couldn't ride AM Classics OR Krysiums due to my larger than normal 'boerseun build' as Marius puts it smileys/smiley36.gif The Reynolds Alta's really impressed me.
  19. I did one of these when my cleat setup wasn't right. Ian also moved me slightly more forward, and I had to change from a 100mm to a 120mm stem. While I look very stretched out I'm very comfortable on my bike...apparently I have very long legs..smileys/smiley5.gif http://www.bikemax.co.za/bikefit.php We offer a full bike fit service, carried out by our head coach Ian Rodger. Ian will look at your current position on your bike and ensure that all key areas are adjusted correctly to suit your riding style and any anatomical variations from the norm. He will also advise on frame sizing. The consulation takes around an hour and includes full bike set up. When you leave you will be ready to ride in your new position and will be able to feel confident that you are cycling as efficiently as possible. R250
  20. Speak to BikeMax. I know they offer it as a service, just not sure how much.
  21. Anyone have experience with these pedals? I have a set of Look 247's on the road bike, and Look PP206's on the track bike and have TERRIBLE cleat squeek. Not even new cleats sorted it out. Using SIDI shoes. I'm looking at Time pedals & cleats. Anyone have bad experiences with them? (please, no tips on curing cleat squeek or advice on Speedplay, Shimano or any other pedalssmileys/smiley36.gif)
