  1. I'm going to give this a try. Just bought one from Takealot for R59!! Hope it works. Great idea
  2. Thanks - looking forward to the extra travel!
  3. Ja that was a plan but didn't want to the 'that oke' that is trying to rip everyone off...
  4. So i spoke to Robbies Bicycle Concept in PE (who fitted the fork) he says the fork is about 18months old and would suggest a price of R9k second hand. I would service the fork before the sale. Is this reasonable? The crown and steerer are carbon and the fork is ridiculously light. Thanks in advance
  5. Great - thanks. Are you still running 120mm on the rear?
  6. Looking for SRAM Brake lever clamps for Level or Guide brakes if anyone has a set lying in their spares box?
  7. Have you tried it? Bit nervous about the change...
  8. Don’t have to replace it. Just looking for a bit more travel. It’s currently on an Evil Following.
  9. Steerer is about 180mm. It’s off a large frame.
  10. I'm not sure on age. Came on a second hand bike I recently bought. I've ridden less than 200km on the bike. Overall condition is good to very good with no visible marks on stanchions and the lowers have been covered with VPS to protect them.
  11. Hi guys, looking for some guidance from the collective wisdom that is 'Bike Hub'... I'm currently running a DT Swiss ODL 120mm Race carbon fork on my MTB (see pic attached) and was thinking of selling it to go to a 140mm fork. What do you think a reasonable price for it is? Will be sold with normal crown lockout and not the remote lever. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Detailed Specs below (its the 120mm 29" fork): OPM O.D.L 100/120 Race - Carbon fork for 27.5 and 29 inches RACE PROVEN - Jenny Rissveds and Nino Schurter raced their O.D.L Fork to the top step of the Podium at the 2016 World Championships and at the Olympic Games in Rio. #Goldstandard. Those on a constant search for the lightest components will find the ultimate suspension fork in the OPM O.D.L Race. The sporty O.D.L suspension and a record-breaking weight of just 1410 grams allow you to fly through the singletrack. The super-stiff OPM magnesium lowers mean that you can hold your line though the tightest corner. A racing fork that’s a cut above the rest! 12. Now the next question is clamp size. Is the 35mm bore just another cycling standard for the sake of being different or does it really make much difference compared to the 31.8?
  13. Thanks for the advice!
  14. Nice bars but WAY to expensive for me...
  15. I've been following the Evil page and also looked at their website. Seems the new Following comes with a 35mm Riser bar and they suggest a 35-50mm stem. Just felt that coming from a flat bar to 35mm Rise may be a bit much.
  16. Thanks for the detailed reply - appreciate the input!
  17. So looking for some help on choosing a new bar/stem combo for my MTB. Just moved from a Scott Spark (old design) to an Evil Following and absolutely LOVING the change in riding style. But... The Following came with a flat bar and relatively long stem (60mm) so looking for some suggestions on a riser bar and shorted stem combo. Yes, I know that this is a very personal (saddle-like) choice but just looking for some suggestions/info as I don't have a lot of cash to waste trying out different combos. I'm looking at the Rapide and Lynn offerings (links below) and the options for the riser bars are: 15mm25mm30mmThen not sure on stem length?? So hoping to tap into the wealth of wisdom that is The Hub... Helmets?

In their defense - you get 2 sets of pads with a new helmet

    Helmets?

Just bought a Spez Ambush helmet on sale from Freewheel Cycology. 50% off so paid R1200 instead of R2400. Great helmet! https://freewheel.co.za/collections/helmet-sale/products/ambush
  20. Anyone else have problems fitting Luvhandles? Basically shredded mine trying to put them on. Have fitted ESI grips in past without a problem so have some idea on how to put them on. Now sitting with expensive bar plugs ????
  21. For those of you in PE, there is a really nice run coming up on Heritage Day. I've attached the flyer. NFB Cape Recife Trail Run powered by Merrell. 22. Yes we were behind you guys on that terrible singletrack along the Railway line.... we had the little blue lights on the back of our helmets. I was broken and after getting off to carry my bike over the tracks I just couldn't keep up the pace...
  23. I see that we are not even on the official results even though we finished in 14h26m. Bit of a let down not to see your name on the finishers log.... Will have to take it up with Eco-Bound
  24. Thanks for all the advice. I tried my old spinning shoes on the bike this morning (mtb with shimano cleats) and no play at all. Then swapped the cleats with the cleats with the ones on my regular MTB shoes to check the cleats and lots of play. Then tried a metal shim under the cleats as suggested - still some play. So it seems it is actually the wear on my shoes Such a bummer as they are still in good condition... Just wonder if a pedal change would help...
  25. Hi Guys, thanks for all the replies. Yes the cleats are new and are Shimano cleats. I'm going to try a different set of Shimano pedals with the same cleats as well as a different shoe with the pedals and see if I can eliminate the problem. Will also try and place a shim under the cleat to see if that helps. Appreciate all the advice
