FHB, what dirt-rider said. Also, I do mostly district/farm roads with a little single track here and there, so basically the same type of riding you do. The B17 will be perfectly fine. I'm 105kg after breakfast/before lunch, and mine was super comfortable from day 1. Did a 110km round trip to Dullstroom this past weekend. The B17 made a world of difference. I suspect you'll really enjoy it.

Replaced my trusty GT Karakoram frame (L) with a brand new Momsen Twen-9AL frame (XL). I am 6'4". Feeling quite a bit more comfy on the Momsen.

BSG, the Rapide wheels have been brilliant. No complaints whatsoever. I upgraded from AlexRims DM21 with Shimano M475 hubs to the Rapidé TR29 TrailRacer wheels (Rapidé R25 rims - 25mm internal / 30mm external) on Rapidé Ultralight PRO hubs (these come complete with quick release and thru-axel adapters). I've done approximately 1200 kilometers so far, and all I can say is that I am extremely pleased. I'm a heavy chap (108kg before breakfast), and so far this wheel set has been rock solid. Excellent value for money.

Replaced my trusty Giro MX Semi recently. New helmet arrived today. Troy Lee Designs A1. What an amazing piece of kit. The fit is just superb.

Yessah.... which is why I am getting this:

During my ride on Saturday I met up with some mates on the trail. We found a spot to have a quick bite and rest a bit. As I was putting my helmet back on, I heard a strange crackling noise. I was on my bike at this stage, and for a moment I thought my frame was disintegrating (yes, you may laff now). Then I realized that the noise was coming from my helmet. I quickly removed it and we watched as the thing slowly de-laminated (see the gray areas in the picture - this is where the "lid" detached/de-laminated). This is a 2004 model Giro Semi MX which I bought in 2005. I guess it is time for a new lid
