  1. Been a few weeks now since I went full-on SS. This is the nicest bike I have owned to date. Absolutely hooked on SS. YMMV
  2. Thanks. And back pedal nogal. You can gooi lekker broadies with this thing.
  3. Bought this from fellow hubber FlashJordan. Another great deal, bike is basically brand new. This is my transport here around town. People are driving me nuts - everyone wants to buy it. Not. For. Sale.
  4. Managed to squeeze in a ride yesterday, exploring the new trails at Tranquilitas.
  5. Bought a Raceface Turbine stem from fellow Hubber 'Hellgate' - fantastic deal. Brand new stem for a 3rd of the price of a new one.
  6. Was in Centurion today, and popped in at The Bicycle Company, just to kill some time <cough>. They had 50% off on gloves, so I got some (R250 for these, not bad!)
  7. A quick junket on the TR (Tranquilitas Rim) on my day off.
  8. Definitely the nicest bike I have owned, geometry wise as well as comfort, and most importantly fun. Have a great weekend.????????
  9. That's exactly right. It is your bike. Do what you want. Just like my bike is mine and I do whatever I want with it. Why I do what I do is irrelevant. What I do see on these and other boards, is the fashion police being presciptive. You must do this. Why did you do that. Feckit, it's my bike. I'll do whatever I want???????? silly buggers????
  10. Because there are places where I need to carry my bike (over my shoulder, through the frame). Water bottles are in the way. Besides, my 3L Camelbak Mule is more than sufficient, and I don't have to suck down dust and grime.
  11. Thanks Ben. I also thought they were making the bike look somewhat odd. So this morning I ripped e'm off and decided to MTFU and ride. The main reason apart from the oddball look was the inherent danger - they tried to kill me on the single track at Tranquilitas on Sunday. V12man warned me about this, and low and behold, the left hand bar end almost succeeded. Ride on!
  12. After a lot of hence and forth, getting a new frame, removing all kinds of odds and ends (bar ends, water bottle cages etc.), here's my bike in it's "final" <cough> form. (Now I need to sit on my hands, take a deep breath, and leave well enough alone... and just ride the thing.)
  13. Ahhh ok, thanks. In that case I will stick with my "posman saal"... and do the 'old school look' thing
  14. When I bought my Brooks B-17 Narrow, it was a toss-up between that and the C-17. I still wonder if I shouldn't have bought the latter... but on real long rides (100km+) the B-17 has been super comfy. The C-17 looks nicer though
  15. Sheesh, that is very, very nice. Is that a Brooks C-17?
  16. At the start of the trails (some new trails have been added): Cruising the blue/pink trail: On my way home, looking down the Elands Valley:
  17. On the way to Tranquilitas... Slaaihoek road: Tranquilitas Rim:
  18. I agree, very slick looking ride there Monark.
  19. Slow down, approximately 2 years down the road (for various reasons ).
  20. On my next SS my crank, chainring, seatpost, stem, bars and brake levers (all Ritchey btw) will be silver. Wheelset and saddle will remain black. I don't think "Gold Member wannabe" at all. More classic old school IMHO.
  21. On the way back from Machadodorp.
  22. Traquilitas Rim.
