  1. Got my Silverback Slade Trail today.
  2. Ordered and awaiting delivery. Does that count? Silverback Slade Trail (with Shimano Saint flats)
  3. Tranquilitas Rim Trail. Good for the soul.
  4. (text and image taken from Johann's blog, February 3, 2009)
  5. Gutted. RIP my friend.
  6. On the way back from Highlands Mist Farm (between Machadodorp and Waterval Boven).
  7. An early Christmas pressy from the wife
  8. The Rim trail at Tranquilitas. Always loads of fun.
  9. Sounds like you are not eating enough. I know this sounds crazy, but check out this video. It is a very good overview of amounts of foods, the whys and hows, etc.:
  10. I have Level TLs as well. My front brake's bite point is perfect, but I was in more or less the same situation as you with the rear one. It was very lazy indeed. This is what I did based on advice from JP at Bell's Cycles in Nelspruit: - Take the wheel off. - Pull the brake lever 4 to 5mm. - Put the wheel back on and go for a test ride. - Repeat if necessary. Works great. My rear brake is now back in action.
  11. Spent yesterday on the trails at Tranquilitas. Gotta love the kiosk with Piet serving the obligatory cappuccino.
  12. I got Xander (the Schnauzer) at 1 yrs old a few months ago. Leeu the Ridgeback is 4 years old. It took us about a week (us being myself and Leeu) to make Xander understand that he cannot snap at Leeu, and that he is in fact not the leader of the pack. You (the owner) are the leader of the pack. You need to make the new dog understand this by being calm and assertive. You can pretty much introduce any dog into your pack. Have them meet on neutral ground. Then go for a walk. The fact that this walk is in neutral territory will make a big difference to the introduction vs. bringing the new dog into the older dog's territory. Each case is different of course, and some dogs take more work than others, but it is definitely doable. Here Xander and Leeu are taking a snooze after we went for a nice long walk:
  13. Xander playing the fool. Kasha (8 year old girl) and Xander (1 year old boy) take a catnap
  14. On the way to Belfast from Waterval Boven. Nice day out on the back roads.
  15. That frame looks strangely familiar! Nice boet, keep going.
  16. I use Fast Trak 2.1 grid on rear and Ground Control 2.3 grid front. I do general trail riding, and a mix of tarmac and dirt road to and from trails. So far I have been impressed with both these tyres in both grip and toughness categories.
  17. Nobody really. Okes are just bored at work, and are killing some time here.
  18. Maybe I'm a bit dof, 'cause I don't see the point. Cycling, and specifically climbing, makes you fit and strong. The more your climb, the stronger you get. So having a motor sort of defeats the objective (objective: getting fitter and stronger), doesn't it? I can see some oke/gal on his/her e-bike, halfway up a long, steep climb, almost effortless compared to the non e-bikers, and the battery or motor says "Fark this, I'm out." But hey, whatever makes your boat float.
  19. A lekker mix of single track and district roads today.
  20. Work eventually stopped interfering with riding! Elands Valley/Tranquilitas. It never gets boring.
  21. Quick ride along the Elands river before the rain. You know it's close when the cold surface wind kicks up.
  22. Leeu and I went for a little junket this afternoon, working off the Christmas foods...
