  2. My hamstrings and back are the killers! I will be stretching after every ride from now on!
  3. Slick I have to be honest no... I did in the beginning but got lazy...and therein perhaps lies my answer...
  4. I watched Dr Jeroem Swart on Supercycling the other day and he mentioned that there is no scientific basis for ice baths... I find when I increase my training I am constantly sore and stiff. My mates who ride with me on some weekends have been extremely supportive and offerred some awesome advice and moral support by advising me to take two EXTRA LARGE DOSES of HTFU! ...and an extra box of tissues for the ride ....Thanks guys...
  5. So my couple grand Giant and still going strong is a winner??? I LIKE IT!! I have blown my fair share of cash!! ...on a garage full of toys... Life sent me a mental adjustment and I had to adapt, and to that end I am actually ever so greatful. Yes I had money, but I also had an attitude and a warped sense of value. I now appreciate the more important things in life that you cant attach a value to or rather are priceless. Dont get me wrong a bling full suspension bike or tricked out Bianchi do get my pulse racing.... but I remember the lesson of value. BUT if I come into some money or re establish my business again I will upgrade ...oh yes I will but it will be strictly cash and MTB Max R15000 Road Bike R12000-00
  6. A little off tangent here : I am a noob to the sport and took my second hand bike to Concept Cyclery in Waterfall for a service and asked them to give me a call should there be any major expense. I completely expected to be fleeced. I received a call in the arvie and was told that my bike was ready to be collected. I asked the dreaded question and they informed me that the service had been done and the mechanic had no issues with the bike..no extra cost, they put me through to the mack and he said my bike was in good nick and the pads were still good. I went through in the afternoon and picked up my bike. The mack came to see me and complimented me on my bikes condition and explained what they had done in the service. The bike was sparkling cleaned squeak free and when I took it for a ride was very happy. R280 well spent. My bike is not a Specialized but I was not made to feel like second class citizen at any stage. I would certainly recommend them!

  10. If I went for a BG/Ergo fitment would they be able to give me size specs for both MTB and Road?
  11. I saw that bike and think its a good deal but I am 1.82m would a 60 -62 work?
  12. Much appreciated MC are you saying get sized up first with Ergo or BG first or get bike within my size range then get Ergo (dumbass I know) ?

  14. Howzit Guys, I know this question has been asked a million times but I would like to be a bit more specific if I can. I am 6 ft and weigh an impressive 118 kg give or take a few burgers. I have recently taken up cycling (three months now) and more specifically Mountain Biking, after swearing blind that I would never cycle in my life. I now admit that I am loving it. I have planned out the rides/races ( dare I say it ) for 2013 and am looking forward to the Amashova as one of my training rides. Looking at investing (rather spending) in a Road Bike. Having spent the last few months oooohhing and ahhhing over the latest and greatest and pouring over the classifieds, I think I have picked up a few things to consider, and please correct me if I am wrong here... 1 There are bikes built for speed 2 Bikes built for comfort 3 Bikes for training 4 Bikes for racing 5 etc etc etc... Here is my Road Bike Bucket list... 1 COMFORT (for riders like me who have a generous distribution of Body Fat in the mid section) 2 QUALITY (within reason Compag Super Record is too much Shimano 105 etc spot on ) 3 DURABILITY (Some hectic potholes around my area) 4 COOLNESS Points ( will the chicks dig me...I think they prefer Specialized, Trek, Giant but who knows) At the heart of my question is this...Can you guys recommend a solid "starter" Road Bike for heavier riders that will not require an upgrade in 6 months in the R 5 - 7k range, and would you recommend anything new or should I go back to prowling the Classifieds of this esteemed Internet presence? Are there any older bikes that have stood head and shoulders above the rest as a Faithful Stallion of Bigger Boyz? On behalf of myself and many other gravity and fitness challenged and possbly "UNCOOL" riders out there I thank you! P.S ...did I mention budget...?? Cheers Ryan Waterfall, Durban
