  9. Pieter I believe this time you will make it all the way to Quittersville and you will find it strangely easy!
  10. Keep going guys. Dont hold a smoke for a friend dont look at someone having a puff longingly. Dont wonder if you can resist temptation. Stay away from it KLAAR!! Dont go to Pubs, dont visit a friend that smokes, dont have a dop for at least three months if not longer. For three months dont drink coffee, tea or fizzy drinks. Avoid anything that is a trigger like the plague for as long as possible (I chose 12 months). Eat small portions stay away from junk food (was a big trigger for me). Whatever you do dont self sabotage your own decision to quit. IT IS THE BEST THING YOU WILL EVER DO IN YOUR LIFE!! DECIDE...QUIT...STAY AWAY...NEVER EVER GO BACK...YOU NEVER DESERVE ANOTHER SMOKE ..YOU DESERVE GOOD HEALTH YOU CAKE...NOT FOR A DRAG A PUFF A SNIFF ONE FAG NOTHING ZERO NIKS NEVER!!!! After 6 months you will feel good. After a year you will feel amazing...your life will change infinitely for the better. ..DO IT NOW QUIT!!!!!!!!
  11. The most amazing feeling is that you no longer have to worry about something and are free of it forever. No worry about where you eat where you visit or what you smell like when you have a ciggie. Find the millions of reasons there are not to smoke. I save money every day every week every month every year.
  12. Hi Craig, an addicted brain is a very powerful thing...don't listen to it. Step 1 " Easy Way" Believe you can quit and believe it will be easy... The results will SHOCK you!! This is what I did.. Step 1 : I DECIDED TO QUIT... Step 2 : Read " Easy Way" and felt excited to give up (..true story..) Step 3 : Took Champix and it helped ...( a few side effects but decided that they would not interfere.) Step 4 : Gave up nicotine for good and have never looked back nor will I Good luck Mate! Others have done it an you can too!!! Last Ciggie 29th November 2013
  13. Last cigarette smoked on 29 November 2013. I celebrated 12 months Nicotene free on 30 November 2014. What an amazing and liberating feeling. My life, decisions, places I eat, people I visit and how I spend my time are no longer ruled by my Nicotene addiction!! I don't have to nervously check my pocket when I leave the house for my Ciggies. I don't have to check my stock driving home late at night or panic when I realise that I may run out..WHOOP WHOOP! I love it! I had given up and failed before and I have learnt that you should NEVER take the fact that you gave up or have given up for granted. Don't ever dabble in a situation where you suspect that you may relapse, if anything avoid situations like this or temptation like the plague. I struggled with smoking and QUIT a few times. This LAST time I decided to QUIT for good! I realised after reading EASY WAY that we decide the strength of our conviction and in some way that strengthens our initial and subsequent resolve to never go back. Once again I must mention how inspirational this THREAD and all my fellow QUITTERS were in helping me achieve this goal. You guys rock and have started an amazing chain of events in quite a few peoples lives. I don't take the fact that I managed to kick the dreaded habit lightly and wish all current and future QUITTERS everything of the very best in their QUITTING endeavours. I recommend reading EASY WAY by Alan Carr. This book was a huge help to me and opened up my mind to the possibility of QUITTING successfully. I also made use of Champix which helped me tremendously also. All you SMOKERS out there, QUIT while you can, if I could do it so could you! P.S I quit over the Festive Period and truthfully it was quite easy.. makes you think doesn't it....c'mon you can do it!
  14. Found me a little Nespresso Machine and lovin it!!!
  15. I may be going off on a tangent here, but from a smokers point of view this is what I did... I read Easy Way and realised that your thinking as a smoker was skewed... ( Alan Carr says that "Smokers are generally more successful and driven individuals"..go figure I RECOMMEND READING THE BOOK) I decided to HATE smoking and everything that it stood for and was about.. I effectively turned my mind against anything smoking related.. Grew to despise SMOKING with all that I had. Today I believe wholeheartedly that SMOKING is DUMB!! It is not just a Social Peculiarity..it is a KILLER...a delayed form of suicide with a tragic twist in that when you realize that you have killed yourself, it is almost always too late, and often only then does one SEE the TRUTH from the marketing rubbish. I don't miss smoking.. I don't feel a nostalgic craving every now and then I don't feel all whimsical when I see someone smoking or lighting up I see smokers as the deluded and sad individuals that they and indeed I once was I see SMOKING for what it truly is.. A cloak and dagger industry trading in CANCER, MISERY and DEATH..cleverly discussed in a Tailored Suit of coolness and blind indifference A VULGAR and dim witted 'flipping of "the Bird" at the Creator and Life itself A runaway train with the GRIM REAPER as the conductor reminding you with a psychotic grin at every clickety clack.. ''"Next Stop ....your funeral Pal!" And I sat in a FIRST CLASS seat for too many years.. So I am "OVER IT..." one would say And hopefully I can salvage the health that I have left and what ever precious time that has slipped through the Reapers bony fingers... And perhaps my desperate attempts to save a few others can wipe that smug grin off Mr Reaper (AKA BIG TOBACCO's) gaunt shadowy facade... Ja I know OVER THE TOP..but I don't care..keep your COOL POINTS.. I choose life for myself, my loved ones, my family, my friends and anyone else that will lend an ear... DONT WAIT QUIT NOW!!

  20. Six (6) months still thankful everyday that Im free of this. People seem genuinely surprised that I have stopped..especially smokers..almost as if you dont believe that it is possible to quit when you yourself havent decided to do so.. So if you havent yet quit and are this reading this wondering what to do?? I say just GIVE IT UP!!!!!

  22. Ok, so I have dropped a few kilos and lately I feel the cold more and to top it all I am currently fighting the mother of all Flu Bugs! The question I have for you seasoned fellas... How do you stay warm while training in winter and specifically when its a bit more chilly (cold front)? Previously I would just layer ( non cycling t shirts vests etc) clothing and top off with a budget track suit top. A lot of my kit doesn't fit anymore and for me cycling kit is an investment. I bought three decent cycling tops and shorts just before winter and enjoyed the good fit and paid a bit more for the shorts and felt the difference. Same brand just better model ( Cape Storm...I know... some of us are battlers). I get that there are arm and leg warmers available so those are a must. Brand??? First Ascent look good and good value. Then there is a thermal "under" layer and full gloves. What about a jacket or top layer (shell)? The temperature when you start a ride is not always the temp when you finish. Some winter days after working up a sweat, I feel like my sweat almost freezes on down hills and flat sections after a steady hill. When I hit the LBS with my hard earned Moola it would be nice to know that I am getting the right stuff and not wasting money on whatever the "lightie" suggests. What do you guys wear? Any tips appreciated! My thanks
  23. Awesome ride! Really enjoyed the single track. Hope the chap with the grey Silverback that fell off near the drop offs is okay.
  24. Howzit Fanie, Still going strong on my side. Thanks for all the comments and support. I am approaching DAY 70 !! Whoop whoop...I celebrate everyday that I have successfully given up and dont go back stupidly. I gave up for Five years previously and started smoking again by being too KLEVA and having a celebratory cigar... I will not be making that mistake again... I AM JUST LOVING THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF QUITTING AND WALKING AROUND BUMPING INTO OLD FRIENDS AND NOT THINKING THAT I STINK LIKE AN "ARSETRAY" I MEAN ASHTRAY....
  25. Innocence personified..
