  1. Check out the website www.hatoere.co.za they organize it
  2. Totally agree you have to swim in open water to prepare yourself for open water. I have swum well over 60 open water events in my life and that 5150 in Germiston last year was BY FAR my worst swim EVER! I had to dig deep to finish that one ????
  3. So I have full on bronchitis and laryngitis and I'm doing Durban in 3 weeks Oh the joys! Didn't do it last year so i am hoping it is considerable easier than EL based on my current situation !!!
  4. This is exactly what I did rooky mistake pouring water over my head and then my shoes were swimming so my feet took a hammering - never again that's for sure!
  5. YOH no socks I wore socks at 70.3 EL and still blistered all over my feet I even changed socks between bike and run but this diddnt help either so I would def take the time in transition to put socks on just to save my feet!!!
  6. I have enjoyed reading this thread. I do not smoke nor have I ever smoked. However, my mom was a VERY HEAVY smoker all my life and over the past 5 years I watched her whither into nothing, reliant on full time oxygen and eventually succumbing to emphysema last September. If any smoker thinks that putting themselves and their families through that torture is worth a puff on a cigarette you are very mistaken. It is like watching someone die of cancer only worse because you can't choose to have cancer but you do choose to smoke. To those of you who have quit - kudos to you! Well done! You have bought yourselves and your families precious time together. For those of you still on the fence.........call me....... I will explain just how hard and traumatic it is as a child to watch your parent die from suffocation because they can't breathe any more! IT IS NOT WORTH IT! Edit: spelling
  7. Knox became a daddy so he had his priorities right in my opinion: awesome committed husband and father then awesome SA champ QED!!!
  8. You will be very lucky to get this info before Sunday. The shorter distances are very much an after thought in this series
  9. We have never met but I am following this thread with much interest. We have been playing with the idea of emigrating for a while now and due to a series of VERY unfortunate event completely out of our control we are now looking/have decided to take the leap. Big step with a 10 year old but we are brave Your stories are giving us hope and belief that we too can have a BIG ADVENTURE. Thank you Keep your posts coming
  10. Wait until we start seeing ads like this ????????????????????
  11. Little 90km ride from home to the mountains between Sabie and Mankele this morning! When we see the views and realize we are only about 45km from home we realize how blessed we are! However when we have to ride the hills we don't feel so blessed ????
  12. A very big THANK YOU Peach! Thomas had an awesome time at the clinic this morning! Well worth the long drive from Nelspruit to have him jabbering on about how much he learnt and enjoyed himself!
  13. Peach please put him in for the Intermediate Class on 12 Dec will drive through from Nellies the night before ???????? His name is Thomas Williams Do we pay via eft or cash on the day? Many thanks
  14. He's 9 turning 10 end of December. He has been riding for 5 years. Placed in SA road bike this year. 4th at MP XCO etc etc so he can ride (a dam site better then me ????)
  15. How do you feel about kids - very confident and competent rider - coming on one of your intermediate courses? Or is this for adults?
  16. If I can give you any advice it would be to buy a good 16" or 20" bike like the Momsen super light. It will be well worth your money. You cannot expect them to learn and enjoy riding properly if they are attempting to pedal close to their own body weight around. This was the best advice we received and it literally revolutionized our dudes riding. The kids momsens are made tough, lightweight and with decent components. Just my 10 cents worth ..........
  17. They are an amazing group of kids led by a super awesome team of 2 or 3 teachers who really care about their riders and go out of their way to make sure they get to where they need to be! Awesome stuff Lydenburg!
  18. Any dads dream day............... A 30km ride with his boy (and wife following)! This is them on the return leg into Nelspruit (along the Jock route back into town).
  19. Momsen for sure! Awesome bikes - both my husband and son ride them (JR100 and AL629) and they punch way above their cost price.
  20. Haha cool thanks guys. I just need one so I think I'm ok Will pop in once I get my car This is the place to go to sort out your rack and bike issue!
  21. I cant believe it! I had exactly the same problem with my towbar and Thule rack. Turns out they (the dealership) fitted the completely incorrect towbar to my car - problem solved when they fitted the correct towbar second time around - surprize surprize! With regards the Thule rack i def recommend you take it in to one of their Thule specific shops and have them look at it - they have amazing little gadgets to sort out all sorts of problems and are super helpful!
