  4. +1 after going down elandspad & swartberg i need to replace my brakepads . i stopped halfway down swartberg to rest my cause my hands couldn't hold the break levers any more. i have a whole new outlook on hill's that's for sure
  5. eeeiisssh. it was the toughest thing I have ever done in my life. Suffered for six hours one each day and the climbing was pure torture on day 2. The other participants made the most difficult sections a lot easier though. even had "tiger-man" walk up a few hills with me (he probably saw that i was FINISHED). I had a puncture just as you come off the section of farm road, i think it's about 4km from the finish, bombed the tyre and the valve decided to break. I popped in a tube only to discover I somehow broke my co2 adapter! No pump, no co2 I started walking to the finish, after a 150m sprint down the tar road a oompie with a land rover (full of bikes) pulled up and assisted by lending me his floor pump. So i was at least able to cycle over the finish line. Crossing the finish line rates as one of the best moments in my life!!
  6. i put a pool noodle between the rack and the bike. and if transport more than one bike another one between the bikes. With the bike on the rack, check where it makes contact with the frame and place your noodle there. (hope it makes sense) Tie the noodle to the bike frame with a strechy/tie down strap to make sure it stays in place.
  7. +1, just get the service instructions for your components from the manufacturers website as well and bob's your uncle (torque values etc)
  8. nope was to early to start drinking
  9. Yes i am FOR REAL. its not about walking an extra 100m it's about being messed around by IDIOT's in bloem celtic supporter shirts. The OFM marshalls tell you to walk this way and the moffie rugby marshalls tell you to walk that way.
  10. just a pity about the idiocy of having 2 events at the same venue at the same time and having people walk all the way around the stadium after finishing a 107k event!!!!! o ja and having to pay 90 buck for a crap t-shirt!!!!!!!!
  11. The cap is 3000, including the teams but excluding pro's which is usually about 40

  13. i don't think there is a straight answer to your question. it depends on how clean you keep your chain, how hard you ride etc.
  14. will be 60 days this week!!!! how you guys holding up?
  15. Nope you are not alone, starting to have nightmares of never-ending monster climbs with no water and cool 42 deg celsius temp p.s. this is me and my "other woman", when you pass me say howzit
  16. Thanks, much appreciated . I'm getting real tired of breaking my back bending down or even squatting to clean/fix/service my bike and don't feel like spending R1k plus on service stand.
  17. c&c mill, a friend and I wanted to import one a while back R60k exc taxes and duties and the extra bits and fittings, min of finance did not like the idea, but that is a nice toy. maybe one day when i'm big
  18. very nice, do you perhaps have a detailed drawing of some kind for the stand? or some more photos from different angles?
  19. +1 I learnt an expensive lesson without one (stripped the crank-arm bolts)
  20. I use Evox Whey Protein (cookies & cream flavor). I only use mine after high intensity training session though and not as a meal replacement.
