  1. You confuse me. You say the route was fantastic but 70% of it was ***? Which is it?

I'm glad someone feels the same way

Thanks for that - it seems crazy that they expect you to drive in some cases 100km round trip just to pick up a number and a bag of rubbish.

Guys if you don't get a chance to pick up your race number at any of the registration days will the race officials give you any hassles if you just pitch up in your batch at the start and maybe a copy of your seeding sms on your phone? Is there a requirement to have your number and go to registration?

I couldn't spot it in this thread - anyone know what the total ascent (climb) is for the race?
  7. I suspect some of these Lurkers pay many of the super hubbers salaries
  8. The whole concept of linking the number of posts and contributions to the community to who is a honest, ethical or a trustworthy buyer or seller is absurd in my view.it is obviously ones own choice as to who you deal with though. I am new to the Hub and I must say it is actually quite intimidating to contribute because you face the possibility of enduring the written wrath of the what would appear super human hubbers with often over 10 000 posts, who position the number of posts as relevant to the credibility of a person and use it as an indicator of how important they are. I know of people with less than 10 posts on the Hub that own and run very large organizations and manage in excess of 1000 people that I would suspect have generally more credibility and understanding of all forms of cycling and busing and selling and general economics than some many thousand post hubbers here. My intention is not piss anyone off. I may have missed the point and my only real objective is to let the super hubbers know that there are many perfectly competent honest folk out there that shouldn't need thousands of posts to be treated equally on the Hub
  9. It's bloody hard to let it go in the heat of the moment. On another point although it's a bit of an obscure point. I honestly think many drivers act like idiots towards cyclists because cyclists do look a bit like idiots themselves in shiny tight kit. There is a perception I think that the sport is full of rich people spending lots of money on looking professional when in fact they are pretty average. I don't have a point to make other than I think this plays a part in some peoples angst towards cyclists. I happen to be one of those cyclist in shiny kit but I do think we look like tosses.
  10. Hi guys anyone know if you can convert a 2008 epic S works 26ers to a 650B? I'll try paste a picture
  11. Any opinion on teasers vs lollipop lounge?
  12. thanks you boss - I will look them up and book a slot
  13. Any views on the best LBS for servicing Rocky Mountain dual suspension bikes in JHB? I had a bad experience with a well known shop that poured oil into the bushings on the suspension joints to stop the squeaking which I have subsequently found out is the reason the joints squeak.
  14. Didn't realize street cred was more important than utility.
  15. I see posts slagging off saddle bags occasionally in the classifieds section etc. Is this an image thing or a practical matter. Why are some folk so against keeping tools in a bag under your seat?
  16. Who, what is blink stefaans?
  17. Hi guys Looking for another marathon entry if anyone needs to pull out at the last minute. 0796523270
  18. Out of interest the SAS guys responded to me saying that one does need to change it on their system or your time will be incorrect.
  19. But there are no start mats at the beginning of the MTB races.
  20. Anyone know how the SAS timing works? If one is seeded in B batch for a Nissan trailseaker race for example and chooses to start in F batch to ride with a friend or wife or whatever, does your actual start and finish time get captured or do they take the time that you cross the line at and subtract it from your registered batch start time? I can't see how they scan or capture your start number at the beginning of these races. I guess I'm not a big racer but interested to know whether starting back a couple of batches affects your seeding or not?
