    Transbaviaans 2022

Couldn’t agree more - can’t see any reason for the organisers sticking to the early start - multiple successful prior years starting at 10 All my previous races started at 10am and they were chilly but warmed up quickly My next years commitment will be dependent on the start time

    Transbaviaans 2022

Done a few TB - Pulled out at 30km. Adequately dressed apart from gloves (which were thermal and water resistant) not water proof which ended in cold and completely numb hands Complete numb hands led to having to change gears with knuckles (thank goodness for AXS) and suddenly feeling the bike slowing quite a few times only to find the weight of my figures were pressing on break levers without knowing Something i don't see on this tread spoken about is the critical need for fueling and drinking in endurance events like this - anyone with seriously numb hands and all the layers of cloths made it impossible to fuel properly - TB has some of the best feed station but with the lack of fueling in the first 60km people that pushed through were also caught out later
  3. Fork is on a bike bought second hand. As the charger 2 damper is a sealed unit what I have also read seems the oil is not a service item Your views?
  4. damper is 2018/2019 - lower leg service and air regular service. I was advised that the damper due to it been a sealed unit it not needing service
  5. Rockshox charger 2 damper RC has stopped working Fork was stuck mid compression and would only use about 20% of the stroke Removed the damper and eventually got it to compress - this resulted in oil coming out through a nick in the damper bladder I have searched the web and found nothing Question - anyone else experienced this issue It is sealed diaphragm with the bladder holding the oil - it is sealed in the station so how the nick in the bladder it a mystery Rockshox is obviously saying the entire damper needs to be replaced
  6. Thanks for posting (and replying to my DM) just had the guy showing interest in my car I am selling.
  7. sure it was a blow out - it definitely sounded like it. We were flying at that stage. Had to hammer the breaks skidding all over the place (about the 100th time for the day though ) it looked like a train wreck, a random wheel in the middle of the road, a saddle on the side and sadly a few guys looking like they were battling to get up. Group shattered there after Hope the fallen guys are all ok
  8. Looking to do some custom decals and vinyl stickers for some wheels. I have tried to make contact with Tyrone which then changed his name to vinyl guy which is highly recommended but had no luck Anyone else?
  9. got the propel advanced sl with the isp - what a bike!! love it looks stunning too
  10. Just a heads up gents, my bike was stolen off my bike rack after the PPA race (in CT) this weekend loved the project building it up and the bike, completely customized - so if anyone sees it ram the dude off. would love to know where these f......rs take the bikes as its going to be very hard to ride such a customized bike in public
  11. Lovely morning ride to franschhoek
  12. Lovely build, can see you have thoroughly thought over each inch of the build - good going. Enjoy seeing a pure custom build, where the build is not just about 'having a carbon bike' but more about actually wanting to have something unique and custom! Paint job looks looks brilliant!
  13. Sad! if you cant afford the original don't try portray you can! If you can afford it then buy it.You are buying a blank frame rather put your own artwork on it. Raced with a guy a while back which had an "s-works mclaren" the paint work looks shocking and the deep suctions had Novatec hubs, i mean seriously - what a prick after all the comments in the group i think he strategically dropped back out of the group Just remember your bike will always look good to you, to the rest for people who actually love bikes, have been riding bikes for year and ride for a passion for cycling (as opposed to just been on trend) you will always look like a douchebag
  14. New to CT, was planning on doing the 1 tonner and the west Coast express. Are there any other good road races around CT before the year end?
  15. Has anyone got a wine2whales (adventure) entry they wanting to get rid of? or alternatively a team which a team member short The wine2whales (ride 3-5th Nov) is still available but this dosnt work out for me in terms of timing.
  16. Drop me a pm with all your questions/concerns and i will try assist where possible
  17. Def - just be prepared to sell your kidney to buy a house down here - property prices are ridiculous for what you get.
  18. The world wide wind originates from Gordans bay, there should be a disclaimer on a board as you approach warning the weight weenies of the danger - i have almost literally been blown off my bike Honestly still getting use to the wind down here - comes out of no where rattles you stickent and then gone!
  19. I got a transfer down here - not a bad place to be transferred to!!Alot of Vaalies are infiltrating SW at the moment all i see are GP cars around - at least they bringing some normality to driving!! As far as i know there is a business bus that leaves from SW (quite early am though, apparently leaves by the park next to the police station) Be sure to shout when down here, riding partners are scarce - the guys you do meet are pretty cool guys though (when you meet them)
  20. We just did the move down to SW at the beginning of the year (also from JHB) SW is a lovely place to stay and has some magnificent weekend riding routes I have asked a few locals with regards to riding to CT (on a weekend ride) and it seems quite a challenge, so i should imagine that a full commute on a week day almost impossible - unless the business train allows you to take your bike which it seems not. Good luck with the move - brace yourself for the wind - it is mind blowing
  21. No problem, I am leaving tomorrow lunch time and staying in Sedgefield. i will probably be coming through to knysna on the Sat to registration for the road ride PM me if you need
  22. Makes sense! Will arrange some intervals on trainer road this evening and then drag myself up there this weekendWeather report doesn't look to good wind guru is predicting 15 knot winds at 8am!!
  23. Thanks, wonder why they use the AA and not just A like in all the other races - all goodGuess its on the trainer tonight then!
  24. My seeding is 'AA' i was a late entry so dose anyone know if the AA is indicative of starting way back in the masses - or is it right up front (if in front, guess i should start training tonight! )
  25. True true - that first climb out of knysna will scatter the group regardless of seeding! should be a fun ride regardless - some nice training!
