  1. Looking at the title of the post I thought the Swampdogs were opening a branch in Cape Town.!!
  2. Not sure about the ware on the disk Most disks warp when you have been riding hard and they are hot, then one you stop for your mates to catch up. If you stand still for a while without the wheels turning the disk cools BARRING the spot between the callipers that is not exposed to the surrounding cool air and warps.
  3. Give Johan Bornman a call 0823086847; Web: www.yellowsaddle.co.za. email:johan@yellowsaddle.co.za
  4. Patches, I see in your 1,5ton steel vault you use "blue" bolt through bike mounts - where do you get them?? Thanks
  5. Hay Patches can you lend that to me?? I need to build a carport!
  6. Switched from XT to XO two years ago and love it - a year ago added the grip shift. What I LOVE about the gripshift is when you are a bit hammered and get to a climb not having changed up enough gears you just grab a handful of the right gripshift and you jump 5 gears even under load.
  7. Joburg Traffic stopped me the other day because I had different plates. Told me it was illegal and to sort it out. NO Bribe asked for- No fine. My lucky day!!
  8. Are you referring to Grease or Carbon Assembly Paste? My experience is the assembly past does not solidify but assists in preventing "slip"
  9. sounds a bit anal to me, but then what do I know I just ride my bike!
  10. There was another thread about 2 weeks ago discussing Athletic Heart Syndrome. I am going to have an Ablation done next month. I am tired of having my heart rate sit at 220 when climbing in a race!!
  11. I was just looking at the information on the Burg & Bush site and see the Decent now ends in Emseni not Winterton?? Also see Garry's tweet commenting on new singetrack from last year?
  12. Patches you are right about the better technical guys don't race. In the Trail going down to the stream just before Push of a climb there was a guy in front on me in the queue going down the single track balanced on his FROUNT wheel!!!! Style I tell you Style!
  13. Rouxtjie, where is the Longdrop Pass???
  14. Are there any other bikes that come out with grease nipples on the pivots??
  15. 8:00 am start so not too cold - must be getting soft !
  16. Platburg is high, but not the highest point in Gauteng - Suikerbos rand is higher at 1917m
  17. I have XO cranks that I am happy with barring the frequency of having to replace the bearings. I do not use pressure washers yet they just seem to be cr*p. My LBS suggested I look at a Chris King BB as they have a 5 year warranty on the bearings. Is it worth the high initial cost or am I being told a storey here?
  18. Maybe you sat on your tit!!
  19. Looks good - slow 50 just for winter!!
  20. From Wolfram Zwecker Hi guys. Three accused (26, 28 and 38) charged with the rape of a 26 year old cyclist were denied bail in the Kempton Park regional court today. These are the guys who held up the brother and sister who were out riding their bikes near the Benoni off-ramp on the R21 highway to Pta. They tied them up and later raped the sister. A week later, with the help of eBlockwatch and Andre, they were arrested. No info was given about number 1, (he did not apply for bail) but 2 and 3 are serious jailbirds. Number 2 has been convicted 10 (ten) times since 1993, number 3 about 8 times. The case has been postponed to 18 July awaiting D NA results. All 3 have made confessions and pointed out the crime scene so the case looks good. It will be heard in the high court. Gang rape carries a life (25 years) sentence. "Normal" rape is 15. The 10 cases of theft/robberies in the Kempton area, where cyclists were robbed of their bikes do not look so rosy. None of the suspects were ID at the ID parade, so they can only be charged with being in possession of stolen goods. (and a bike, even worth thousands, is not high on our magistrates list as worst evils). They are being charged in the Tembisa regional courts. Moral of the story, if you get robbed, try (easily said) and get as much info of the robber, as possible. Afterwards keep in touch with the investigating officer (easier said than done). If they could have ID' the robbers, a case of organized crime could have been build, going from Tembisa (Kempton) all the way back to Mozambique. That would have meant a sentenc e of 10/15 years, now we are looking at a slap on the wrist.
  21. Mackie you are way too sharp for 8:23AM
  22. Absolute classic!! Hope he did not scratch his udder
  23. How many goddamed CHOPS are there?? I'm sure we loosing this battle
  24. MTBer, I have the same problem. Been to a number of docs and the feedback I have is that it is called Sport induced Fibrillation. If one spends many years exercising with an elevated heart rate for long periods such as long distance running, cycling or even playing multiple games of squash the nerves in the upper quadrant of the heart start short circuiting and you get arrhythmia. I am seeing Dr Hendrick van Rensburg from Pretoria who specialises in treating this condition. What he does is an abrasion on the problem nerve, fixing the condition. If you need his number send me a message. By the way he is a quick triathlete so supports sports-mad people!!
  25. A Bird in the Hand and all that stuff!!
