  1. That's good to know. Might have to revisit.
  2. I try to only degrease after 3 or so dusty ish rides. By degrease I mean I spray with Pink Stuff and scrub when I wash my bike. Between these I hold with a cloth squeezing the top and bottom of the chain and back pedal. 11000km on my XX1 chain and v little/no wear so far.
  3. I was so tempted to try the wax route but my concern was not being able to "top up" on a long race stage...Any update on that? Had lots of chats on the Hub with a cool guy who was going to send me some......I'm a Squirt fan. Does Smoove still require its own proprietary remover/solvent? A family member tried it a couple of years ago and it browned his lawn...
  4. My frame has internal casings which means the now defunct FD routing exits under the BB to its rear making it impossible to exit elsewhere without breaking that internal routing away. And believe me, it is impossible, therefore one simple hole and all fine ...
  5. Nothing can compete with a school tuckshop hotdog! ☺️
  6. Mate of mine sent his MTB for a service ...without suspension service it was like 6k. Went away for Dec to Cederberg for 2 weeks of fairweather farm road rides... Creaks...oops you need new pivot bearings...this is why I do 99% of my own work.
  7. I drilled my Adrenalin carbon frame last year just behind headset area into the downtube. As a past post stated, use tape, start smallish and at an angle, then I finished with a round file to get the angle. Done. The frame is so over engineered I don't give it a second thought...
  8. Because we're getting ripped off! Not by the LBS but by the manufacturer. Compare the weight of your car tyre vs bike and that's it. Same with brake pads. Someone mentioned economies of scale - car tyres are produced in their 10's of millions but there are thousands more vrands. Same goes for bicycle disc pads... The bike industry is contracting so hopefully some sanity will emerge.
  9. That coverage is what used to make Comrades so great to watch. It's cool that the top guys finish a stage in 3 to 4 hours but the real heroes are the guys n girls who battle for 8 hours and don't give up. A few years ago I went OTB hard on day one of Route 66, about 1/3 in and cracked some ribs and a few bruises so I suffered on and finished after 6 1/2 hours....got some cheers at the finish as I was covered in black soil and lots of blood on my arm....8 hours? Wow!
  10. A few times I've caught a stomach bug in a new geo location and I've suspected it's not being accustomed to the water.
  11. Having worked for the 947 (when Tanya Harford still ran it - properly) and in its JOC, I would believe they have contingency plans for a lot of outcomes but it makes little sense to shorten the stage the day before but lengthen it if the often unpredictable Cape weather makes a U turn.
  12. I guess it could make an already difficult medevac close to impossible.
  13. That might be a cool combo....👍
  14. I'm not blocked yet....
  15. Remember exactly the same problem at CTCT MTB...people getting off for very little apparent reason.
  16. That's a way cool coincidence. I've been a Kate supporter for a long time and keep hoping she rediscovers her Mojo....think she broke a wrist or something a couple of years back and just hasn't found it yet...thats why I was hoping she'd ride the Epic...hope she recovers.
  17. He's won with Lars. If he had a matching partner he might not beat SCR in a straight fight but I'd rate them up there... As an aside I was hoping Kate Courtney would stay and race Epic as a foundation for the XC season but not to be...
  18. Disagree....that's kind of what he's done and look where it got them....
  19. A few years ago I rode a (shortened) day 2 in W2W in some rain. Including a sliding face plant over the edge of a berm when I lost the front, it's the most fun I've ever had on a bike ...guys were submerging their bikes in one of the Oak Valley dams to try to clear the mud. Was such a blast!
  20. Watching the guys with pressure washers- I've opened a kiosk adjacent selling pivot bearings....
  21. That's what I was thinking. There was not even a bolt left in the cage but lower pulley was still in.
  22. I'm not sure it was wire into SCR's RD. I think he lost a pulley? Chris Blevins said he was behind Lukas when his derailleur pully hit the ground ..
  23. Hoping that Andri has a better day tomorrow - he owes us one. Gerald announced Nino's team mate as "Tomas" Frischknicht....that might be part of the problem ...I hope Andri shows up tomorrow
  24. Thanks. Couldn't have stated it better! Wonder if Nino will stay on Aspens?
  25. She's making sure Neil Gardiner understands what she's saying.....😁
