  1. Not sure I'd agree that a tyre will wear faster on the trail than tar, I reckon tar will shred it way sooner. Have a family member who rides tar to prep for 36 One etc and he goes through rear tyres quick
  2. Ah ok, thanks, have to wait a bit longer...
  3. I don't see any DHI onSupersport but in CH 206 there is achunk of nothing listed, does anyone know if the DHI will be aired on DSTV?
  4. On the 4 occasions I've had to consult with Cape Cycles and buy through a LBS it's been pretty good ...Shimano not so good and that when they answered the phone....
  5. Not necessary but much appreciated! 👍
  6. That's the one..... 👍
  7. I prefer Enduro seal also in my MTB - It's never let me down
  8. Definitely not a puncture. Double checked and each has around 100ml Enduroseal for peace of mind. That way I get maybe 1 puncture a year with Gatorskins. I'm off the bike for the next 12 weeks due to a Brachytherapy procedure but will try some Conti tubes when I'm back 😎 Yip, I do that with the tool.
  9. Brand new Kenda. And I add 100ml sealant just as insurance
  10. Yip, I do that with the tool.
  11. Have no idea, bought a Kenda at Cyclelab and inherited a Spez, need to do some research...
  12. I mostly keep my Roadbike in the car for a week at a time (front wheel out)and check pressures randomly reaching behind me - after 20+ years you can do it by feel but with my current sieved tubes I have to take it out every evening and pump.
  13. 25C tyres...
  14. It's not the puncture vulnerability but the pressure loss in 24 hours. Like I said, I only used to pump my previous ones once a week....
  15. Thanks. I actually bought a Conti as a spare. Might try it and see if it's any better. I'm not surprised the Kenda is rubbish but I AM surprised that the Spez is crap.
  16. Hello I've recently upgraded my Roadbike wheels and therefore tubes - can't remember what tubes I used to use but I'm finding my current (Kenda rear, Spez front) only hold pressure overnight - and not that well. I only used to pump my road tyres once a week or so and now it's like my MTB ie - night before a ride. So I'm looking for tubes that keep pressure well (around 7 bar) and I need 80mm valves to fit Zipp 404's and pref removable cores.... Thanks in advance
  17. I would have thought parts wouldn't attract duty other than VAT?
  18. Sheet I never thought of that. Another reason my bike never sees a bike shop - only for wheel trying...
  19. Usually something silicone based will make tyres look amazing and tyre cleaners (automotive) will have silicone as their primary ingredient. HOWEVER - silicone attracts dust like a magnet. I would stay well away.
  20. I get my non suspension and non-proprietary ie one side of my BB (Extended race) bearings at BMG. Same quality as Enduro at much less cost.
  21. Make sure you use a Max (full complement bearing) as a pivot bearing doesnt rotate but mostly goes back and forth. Doing the above mentioned will prolong the life but you can use a hose pipe, just on low pressure. Also clean and regrease the bearing and the pivots regularly depending on how often you ride. I have had my pivot bearings in for 2 years now....
  22. RIP and condolences to loved ones. Guys I know this can happen out in the sticks but my humble opinion is to not ride in the suburbs - mate of mine lost a close friend about 6 weeks ago in Allen's Nek area also. In the country areas there's less traffic density. In urban areas I suggest rather ride a MTB on the pavement or a trainer.
  23. I was once told by a guy at AutoZone that on a car a 1mm drop in thickness (so a 1mm lip) which as a % of a car disc isn't much, equates to a 100 degree increase in temp. I'm guessing the less metal you have the higher the temperature, which feeds into the fluid, plus the pistons are at max extension.
  24. I went to Vesconite with the part, the guy with the vernier measured my old part and as if by magic, one week later I had 10....
  25. I have long considered trying Vesconite as a bushing material as my Trigon had some shitty urothane type bushes that hardened and broke (pictured below, it is inside the main pivot to protect the alu link from the through bolt). The Vesconite worked amazingly well and way better than the OEM shite.. My concern with replacing bearings with this stuff is that the bearing might want to rotate in the cup as there will be greater friction until the pivot surfaces bed in. For those naysayers, Vesconite is extensively used and even replaced brass bushes in railways machinery and seldom needs lube. I wouldn't mind dabbling but the cost is also high to get set up but thereafter, cheaper than chips. I used to have to replace bearings often but have learned that there is a trick to correct installation, wash carefully, only use Max bearings on pivots and clean and lube bigger bearings regularly for e.g. BB, and check/top up grease with new BB bearings as they can sit on a shelf for ages and dry out...
