  1. I haven't ridden the Forekaster but seems it is more suited to the wet. I have ridden others Ardent Race, Racing Ralph, Ikon, Conti X-King. I would rate the Rekon better than all of them in terms of grip and cornering confidence.
  2. Rekon 2.4 front, Rekon Race 2.35 rear. Both are 60tpi EXO DC so on the portly side (for XCM/XCO), but they are tough and grip really well. I had a Rekon 2.4 on the rear and the grip was amazing on climbs but on downhills didn't seem to make that much difference and rolled quite a lot slower compared to the Rekon Race. I am running a tubolite insert on the rear too now which allows me to go a bit lower in pressure and also kills buzz, which is quite a nice side effect. These are mounted on 30mm carbon rims. I would definitely go Rekon on the front again. It is such a versatile tire. Probably best front tire I have used.
  3. Be careful with different alloys. Some are not weldable and may break under strain. https://www.thefabricator.com/thewelder/article/aluminumwelding/aluminum-workshop-why-isn-t-7075-weldable-
  4. Theoretically they are not an online store since you can't purchase anything through their site.
  5. I once tried to order something from them and was under the free shipping limit by R100. So I literally spent an hour on the phone with the salesperson running through what I could get for R100 that was actually in stock to save on shipping. I eventually gave up because there really was little I needed. The least they could do is post their stock levels on their site. I don't bother looking at their site anymore because it's impossible to determine if I am going to get the runaround. I'd rather use evobikes or summitbikes or trailtech etc. Also, isn't charging an additional 3% over the listed price for credit card not allowed by credit card companies? I seem to remember that being a condition of getting merchant status.
  6. I am in Cape Town. The shipping cost is £10 but the only issue (I see now) is that it comes SAPO. Will see if they can send it another way as it will likely never arrive.
  7. If you want to split shipping I’d like to order something from https://www.racewaredirect.co They might have something that helps you.
  8. If you think the ads should be cycling specific, then you should take a look at who sponsors the pro cycling teams: https://road.cc/content/feature/13-crazy-pro-team-sponsors-and-their-unlikely-products-231534 As an aside, I tried out YouTube Premium for a few months and ended up becoming a subscriber. It’s kind of impossible to use YouTube now without it. I wish more services had ad-free subscriptions.
  9. I am here until Sunday if you want to join for a ride.
  10. If you are willing to wait. I bought a pack of fifty for $1 including shipping on Aliexpress. Took a year and five months to reach me. 😂🤣
  11. Am not sure if this had been reported before but one particular (seemingly trivial but progressively more annoying issue) is that on some links on mobile Safari you have to click on twice for the page to load. As an example, the Active Discussions list at the bottom of any thread page requires two taps to load that page. I have a feeling this is related to the hover state on the title which needs to be activated before the redirect but on mobile there is no hover state so it requires two taps. There are countless times where I click a link and wait 5s only to find I have to click it again to actually load the page. Has anyone else noticed this?
  12. I use discobrakes ceramics. Silent, good quality pads and fairly well priced if you buy them in packs of 4. Only issue is shipping can be slow to SA. Was super fast to Singapore though. They last a long time and have better modulation than the SRAM force resin pads that came stock on my bike.
  13. You are in for a treat! Take a look at Trailforks. Stellenbosch area has hundreds of kilometres of trails stretching from Paarl to Somerset West Just make sure to keep your bikes secured at all times and never leave them unattended. It’s a hotspot for bike theft in the town.
