  1. They are massive. I have driven passed their warehouse near Girona, Spain. They can take quite a bit of time sometimes to ship but their system is flexible enough to cancel and update your orders up until they actually ship.
  2. Another vote for the Hammerhead Karoo. You can configure it to show larger size fonts and the screen is particularly bright. Garmin software is abysmal. Particularly their sh@$ty phone apps. Thought they’d improved recently and bought my wife a 130 - I can’t even open ConnectIQ on her phone. It just crashes. My advice - keep the bolt or get a Karoo.
  3. Love seeing these as long as I see them long before I get near them.
  4. I have the 238s. Most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn. They are pretty tough too but I do give them a good clean and polish every now and again. That goes for any leather shoes though. The abrasion resistant material on them gives good coverage and works well.
  5. It sounds like you either need to replace the spindle or the ball bearings. Check if you can see any pitting on the bearings or grooves on the spindle. I have a pair of XTR pedals that need new spindles but they are like hen's teeth.
  6. Back in Hemel-en-aarde on the Hermanus trails. Tons of work went into fixing up these trails after the devastating floods. Happy to report they are still tons of fun and almost running at 100%
  7. Rekon / Rekon Race is a good combo for this area. Really enjoying the Specialized Fast Trak T5 at the moment on the rear and like the Continental CrossKing Protection. Both are really light and roll fast. Perfect for the dry, rocky trails. Schwalbe Wicked Will SuperRace or Specialized Ground Control T7 on the front are good alternatives to the Rekon - quite rounded profiles so roll fast but are relatively tough for the sharper rocks and give good grip. If it's going to be a muddy year this year, then ignore all of the above tires...
  8. I found that if I ride a lot then comfortable saddles are instantly comfortable. In other words, it takes time for the soft parts to toughen up if I've been off the bike, but it's usually only a ride or two not 200km. Good shorts also help but get the saddle and fit of your bike right first. If you want to do this right and save yourself a ton of time and money, I'd suggest getting a professional bike fit. Good bike fitters also usually have an array of saddles that you can test at their studios.
  9. Oak Valley. Good to be back home.
  10. I ride in many different places throughout the year and I really like "collecting" rides and runs with a cool pic to accompany them. I couldn't give a rats-ass about where I come in relation to everyone else on a segment but it is a nice feeling to have done a PR on a segment that might have ridden quite often. I also like using other people's rides in new places to create routes for myself. I don't use the Strava route builder - which I think is a pile of poo - but I do export the GPX and then modify it to suit me in something like Komoot. But without the initial route inspiration from a real person that has ridden there, it would otherwise be very, very difficult. We are quite spoilt in SA with our perfectly signed routes with a neat coffee shop at the start and parking. This is something I have not seen anywhere in Europe nor the US. At the end of the day, if you don't like it or you have issues with it, then don't use it. I get good value out of it and even use it to keep up with friends that I have made all over the world and their rides and runs.
  11. I have the Decathlon Van Rysel one. It’s very lightweight and works well in hot environments (tested mine in Thailand and Singapore). Better than the DHB ones I bought a couple of years ago. The DHB aeron ultra jerseys are also amazing in very hot weather. The material is cool to the touch.
  12. Nafplio, Greece
  13. Northwest Corfu, Greece
  14. Corfu, Greece
  15. Full winter sun - Corfu, Greece
  16. Top of Pantokrator Peak, Corfu, Greece.
  17. I just bought a set too and really like them. They are pricey though but when you factor in the cost of bottle and bottle cage it’s not too bad.
  18. bike-discount.de has had the best prices so far. But r2, bike24. All good.
  19. I see what you did there… 😎😂
  20. Last ride here in Meteora, off to Kerkyra this weekend. This place is stunning.
  21. Have been flying all over the world with 2 Evoc cases for many years . Never had a single issue (touch wood). It’s really easy to pack and much lighter than a hard case so you can include it with many airlines in your checked bag allowance. Six of us did a tour through northern Thailand in September and we all had evoc bags. Not one issue. I have flown with bike boxes before. The packing is the tricky part because the box does eventually disintegrate and the frame can get damaged unless you wrap it in foam and zip tie wheels to the frame very carefully.
