  1. Your method and logic seems right on the button (correct), my only question is are you sure you read the measurement correctly? Double check measurement from point to point. Also how sure are you that it is 28.5km and not 23km?
  2. I went through a similar dilemma some time ago. It was a toss up between Easton and Mavic. Everybody at the time told me Easton. So I bought some. I got myself the Easton EA90 Aero, and happy a a pig in s%$t. I believe the Aero have same hub as SLX. Great wheels
  3. Is it just my imagination, or does the petrol price go up everytime the repo rate comes down. SOME THINGS JUST DONT MAKE SENSE TO ME!! Another 16c per litre hike. What we win on the merry-go-round, we lose on the round-a-bout. Oh well, I guess thats economics, and I know $%i# about economics.
  4. Good value for money is SILVERBACK. Check them out!
  5. Just did a deal with WICKED C. What a pleasure, even went the extra mile to get goods to me safely. Best Wishes mrm6712
  6. Sport massage helps me alot, especially when I run. Cycling has strengthned some muscles and shortened others, causing knee problems when I run. The actual massage it pretty damn painfull but absolutely worth it. Cost about R100 for an 1/2 hour session. Recommended if you seriously active.
  7. Answering PRIVATE CALL NUMBERS cos its normally someone looking for money - LOL!
  8. I gotta kinda agree - but - I just got this feeling (a small one, but a feeling) that Lance is still gonna surprise us. If it was anyone else I would say no ways, but we are talking about Lance, and if there is one guy that can do it, it is him. I think his "mind power" is just awesome. I think the Actual Tour will probably lift his game even more.
  9. Yeah! And talking about Julius, I wonder how many times has written Gr12, and how many more times still to go?
  10. I agree with crowdude about his suggestion to repair, but I am also experiencing the same problem but nothing has changed with my isp. Wether I am at home or work I am not getting any email notification. Must be HUB problem (or not - hahha)
  11. Thats why they called 1time, cos you only fly with them once and then never again. I tried it ONCE, and I vowed never again, and thank goodness I only had hand luggage. Everybody I know, that has flown with them, has had an unpleasant experience. Its not just cyclist that they dont want, but ordinary passengers as well. Rumour has it that they have the worse maintained aeroplanes - dont know how true that is, but judging by their service and staff it cant be far wrong. Good luck with claim. I know we all have bad experiences somewhere and somehow, but I dont have complaints about Kulula or BA, especially with bikes.
  12. Shimano - Road Shimano - MTB
  13. maybe they will be cheaper and everybody can afford them. . hahaha. Lets be real. What are the chances of them getting cheaper? Like the way you think though!!!!
  14. Lifespan - hmm- the moment you fall on your head consider the lifespan as expired. Seriously - I think it will last as long as you want especially if looked after, but a consideration to an upgrade would be that obviously technology changes with time, so if you feeling your helmet has had a good life then go and check out new helmets and compare the difference.
  15. I had an RS200 which was great for HR monitoring. Mainly for running though. As I spent most of my time on a bike and taking price into consideration, I got a CS300. Very happy indeed, does all my cycling needs and still does the running HR monitoring as well. Cadence meter can be used with CS300 as well. If you on Discovery then Polar is no brainer cause of Vitality.
  16. R16k alot of money just to prove a point, and only a 200gram point. If you not sure what to do with your next R16k project then please PM me immediately as I am sure I can help you spend it, and the bonus part is R16k in notes probably also weighs 200grams. So you win and I win - hahaha- I spend R16k and you lose 200grams. Win - win situation. LOL Jokes a side - Hope you having fun.
  17. Agreed!! R70k is alot of money to spend on a bike. Can get some damn nice bikes in the R30k-R35k range. Geez!- you can get some great bikes in the R20k-R30k as well.
  18. Specialized!! My buddies who ride them are all very happy.
  19. Hi Hitman I had a similar problem sometime ago. I stripped and searched everything that I thought it could be - even changed seatpost My "two cents" worth - is check your pedals. A mate of mine had the same issues. Told him to take the pedals off and give good clean and lubricate very well when turning the pedals back into cranks. We both found we were getting "creak" when pedalling hard or standing. Lubricated the pedal threads and between pedal and crank - HEY PRESTO problem gone. Hope this helps!!
  20. Read between the lines, or the very fine print. I dont have a copy of the "inaccurate or accurate minutes", but were they wanting a 50% general increase or a 50% GP increase. Cos if its a 50% GP increase then it falls right inline with something costing R550 and now costing R1100. This works out to exactly 50% GP increase. Which yes- quite rightly so - works out to a 100% general increase, or to put it bluntly - "DOUBLE YOUR MONEY". Be interesting to see who and what they blame in the next few months, if any further price increases. From what Im reading, about all the price fixing allegations, perhaps we should stop buying things we need right now, and start looking again in a few months when things get cheaper - LOL. Doubt that will ever happen, but lets live and hope,
  21. This is also 100% true, but occasionally the 10% surcharge is sometimes dropped. I think this is a courier company fee that gets charged, but is not always the case. As you can see from some previous posts sometimes you get away with duies completely. Depends on customs official checking your parcel and also on the value of goods. But it is good idea to keep that extra 10% surcharge in the back of your mind - just in case (LOL).
  22. From my experience, with other goods that I have imported, if there is an import duty of 30%, then what customs does is they take the rand value and then add 30% to total cost and charge VAT on the total amount. For example total goods R1000 plus 30% = aprox R1300 and then Vat. So Total to pay on collection of goods is R1482.00 If you are vat registered, i.e. business, then you can claim the Vat amount back, otherwise its a case of "Hoes en Betaal"
  23. Hi Maxx I am no specialist in this regard at all and neither am I a pro or bike dealer. Firstly is it a Mountain Bike or Road Bike you are after? With todays technology and manufacturing process Im sure a carbon bike would last just as long as Ali or Steel. It all depends how you look after the bike and obviously how many crashes or accidents you may have. Hopefully not many, or none at all. Carbon bikes now are made pretty damn strong, and depending on manufacturer your average warranty is 3-5 years. This covers normal use and obviously not for accidents - which is why you should probably have insurance as well. I have had my Silverback Monza since 2007 and so far had absolutely no problems with the frame. I havent had any accidents but I have gone over and through some pretty big bumps and holes in the road. Probably done about 7000-8000km on my bike. Only problem experienced is the braking of a seat post. So to answer your question is not that easy, but my advise is by a well known brand with good back up and advise, and you pretty much cant go wrong. Im a roadie, but do have a mountain bike (aluminium) that I hardly use so if you thinking of Carbon Mountain Bike then hopefully someone else can give you advise. Happy hunting and searching.
