  1. Great Bike - Very Nice!! I would go SRAM or Campy. Me - I like Campy.
  2. This is just my personal opinion and will probably get shot down for what im about to say, but I went thru this little exercise some time ago. Unless you are seriously good cyclist, what is the point really cos by the time you spent all that money lightening the bike you may as well have bought a newer and lighter bike anyway. Also look at your times. Is 0.5kg gonna make such a big difference to your times. If you doing a 100km in 3h30 its probably gonna make you 1 minute faster. 1 minute faster for a couple of grand - is it really worth it. Just a thought! Train harder, get fitter and stronger and you will go faster. Hahaha this is coming from a guy with a carbon bike and carbon this and carbon that, but that cos i got it all at a bargain price. JUST FOOD FOR THOUGHT
  3. Why do you want to lighten your bike? Whats it currently weigh?mrm67122009-11-30 11:53:01
  4. Ive bought and Ive sold and so far everything has gone 100% smoothly. I like to think that on the whole Hubbers are pretty genuine. Perhaps one day I will bamboozled out of money, but I hope and pray not. Guys and Girls keep it real and keep it genuine, so far it has been a pleasure to deal and meet some of you.
  5. I also wondered what the heck was going on? Probably Racetec updating/changing something!! U R doing nothing wrong!!!!

    Dogs

I carry a small shock stick. Its the size of a cigarette pack and pushes out 1.8million volts. The noise it makes when activated normally chases the dogs away, or halts them immediately. The best part is that if the dog owner gives you a whole lot of lip, well guess what? - You have the choice to use the device again. Probably wont see them walking the dog for a while - hahaha!!!
  7. Fanbladdytastic!!!! Absolute Beauty!! Green with envy!! Enjoy!
  8. Have you looked at Silverback range. New Monterey is full carbon but not sure on groupset.
  9. Take the pedals off. Give them a really good clean, around the thread area, both on pedal and crank, then lubricate (re-grease) and replace and noise should be gone. Sorted my problem out.
  10. How about telling us how limited your budget IS!!!!!!
  11. By the way - they tell me that they (PO) will only insure to maximum of R2000. Keep this mind!!!
  12. I did this exercise just last week, and I still found the post office to be the cheapest. I sent a bike from PE to Pretoria - cheapest courier I could find was aprox R350, Sent economy parcel post with Post Office and cost R150. Dont think you gonna get cheaper unless someone you know is going that way and will do you a favour.
  13. Ja! It wasnt so funny at the time!! Hey SHIMANO - I was at home in PE!! - so Langebaan isnt the common denominator either!! Onetime- I reckon if you were still in the car when your tyre burst, Im quite sure you would have "soiled" the seat - LOL!!
  14. I can throw a spanner in the works for you guys. The other morning, at about 02h30, my wife and I were woken up by a loud whistling sound followed by a Burp, Fart and a Gurggle! On closer inspection the tyre had burst on my bike. Rode it about 12 hours before and I cant believe heat had anything to do with it at that time of the morning. Oh, yeah and before going to sleep I did check that I hadnt messed in the bed, or my PJ pants, as I got a "moerse" fright.
  15. If you buy decent second hand stuff then probably cheaper. If you buying new parts, then sell old bike and buy new one. I bought my bike second hand, for cheaper than I could get the complete groupset brand new.
  16. With out a doubt the Eastons!! Oh! and if you haven't married her yet, I suggest you make a very snappy decision and commit yourself immediately. Infact phone her/ visit her right now and propose, dont wait a minute longer.
  17. I'll second this. These are great pedals. Probably one of the only pedals on the market that can be setup for various angles. I stand to be corrected. Bought some recently and very happy. "You cant beat them" If you stand to be corrected' date=' doesn't it affect your position on the bike? ....I'll get my coat...[/quote'] Hahaha! Very Sharp - Willehond. Ok so I must say sounds weird - haha - but i like the sense of humour.

  19. Check out CHIT CHAT forum. The very top thread/post explains everything
  20. Holy Macoroni! The guy is 37/38 years old and has been riding for more years that some hubbers age groups. Lets face it, I reckon if I had to ride as hard as him, for lets say the last 20 years - then I would be pretty proud of legs like that. Whether extra "vitamins" were taken or not, those legs have been working for a long time.
  21. Have you had a look at the new SILVERBACK range. If I am not mistaken a brand new Silverback Monza with 105 will set you back aprox R18k. Pretty good deal - I think - for full carbon bike.
  22. Is the "partner" the wife/husband or just girlfriend/boyfriend? There is quite a difference when making purchases - LOL!! The one you still gotta live with for quite a while (unless you want a divorce), and listen to the moaning. Here you will do the purchase and maybe live with a little guilt, and emotional games will be played with you for a while. The other can "air their point of view" but you still gonna do it anyway. In the back of your mind you are thinking - "Im not married yet" - so let the "eyes roll". Have Fun!!
  23. Remove pedals from crank. Give a good clean and "re-grease" thread nicely. Replace and test. Had same problem, and this sorted out my problem. Good Luck
