  1. I'm learning here (to understand why the wheels that my LBS true/build don?t last), so I got to ask this:<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Why would/should my LBS shop fit spokes that have play in the first place? The washers might be only a fix for something that was done wrong in first place. Shouldn?t there be standard dimensions/tolerances that should be adhered to? Should I accept the practice as "standard" or can I go back to my LBS and tell them to fix when I spot that they used washers on my wheel. (Currently my LBS don?t use washers but their wheels still don?t last)
  2. And all of a sudden I realize that the ?kef? ?kef? ?kef? that I hear is from my PC?<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Actually, I experience it the exact opposite, very informative thread, thanks to those that are willing/able to give input. If I compare the wheel ?user? references (that JB and other get) with the number of issues I had in last year with my ?high tech? LBS wheel building skills ? I know how (tools, science & ?art?) my next wheels will be build.
  3. Hi Attie, If i take a roll - can I get a Token headset bearing to finish the boss's MTB headset service? Tell the Chinese if they want to sell products here they must supply support and spares as well. Gert
  4. In the last pre-event DC email i got from Fritz Grobler it was said that the top racing teams would be tracked by GPS. Was this done? On the hub it was said: "if we only knew it was 21 seconds" - so the question is or simply would be interresting to know it it was used by top teams to take split times of other teams - anyonewant to share strategy?
  5. What do you like for you birthday mrs?
  6. Same story line, less serios injuries and different outcome: Mrs Straatvark was send over car bonnet 2 weeks ago. She gave him a piece of her mind. (i can just think how that went - ) Driver appoligised and carried her bike home for her on foot. SMS later the day to hear if she is fine and even did a follow up SMS today. WTF? Why cant everyone that make a mistake not be like this? If you are guilty, be man and take it like one. I would have him when i got him at our front door the morning , but at least he kept some respect from me

  11. No, im not stuck on my saddle My trusty GT Zaskar seat post top part came loose. Seems the top part where the actual saddle clamp on is pressed (with glue/epoxy) into the main vertical seat post tubing. Any experience with this - do i waste my time to find epoxy that will take on aluminium? I'n not afraid that it will snap, it would just be nice to stop the noise and horizontal rotational movement. Regards, gert
  12. Would it be fare to say that Bellevue road ist the steepest road in Cape Town up Table Mountain? It is that road on the front side of Table Mountain that run from the top of "Kloof street" to "Kloofnek/Buitengraght" I cant measure the gradient, but damn you struggel to keep the front wheel down. Latitude: 33?56'15.17"S Longitude: 18?24'3.15"E

  14. I'm used to chuck the bikes in the back of the trusty white, long wheel base bakkie and also more a bicycle guy than car fanatic, so here is the question: I need to rent a car with the constrain that I must fit two MTB's in boxes in the back. (And two cyclist in the front) Budget is a constraint after I heard what KLM asked per bike When I use http://www.traveljigsaw.co.za some of the following options. Opel Meriva Renault M?gane Citroen C3 Citroen C4 etc From the photos on the web the Meriva seems fine. Cant they build a 3D viewer where you can fit squre items of your own dimentions on the web? Anyone driving one of the above that can comment from experience please? thanks
  15. So thats why I did not received my promised recorded PR 2006 DVD to watch... the owner hijacked his own copy... mrs Straatvark bought into this DSTV idea tonight so I will test the "same day installation" tomorrow (It does help to have mother in law for a couple of days in the house to supervise )
  16. I have ADSL, but seems that I just cant get an reliable connection to cycling.tv. The damn adds show fine but the moment the "real" thing start it hangs. It used to be fine but this last month or two i just cant use it. This tell me that my line is fine? (100-256 kbs) But I'm not a premium member so they limit concorrent connections to a server? Is it worth going to premium? ie do one get better connection with them? Thanks, gert
