  1. The vertical garden in its second season:
  2. All my Dublin club members knew and ask about 'the big sportive in CT', never used 'the Argus' as people would here in SA
  3. ditto. A ride like this morning place the mind in a very good state. Cant say in words how much the tracks are appreciated!
  4. Mulmi, I see now you are also from CT. Where do you get the hens from? - I want to use an old aviary as a starting point here..
  5. I think ~1 inch square 'sparre' with edges rounded. I could go and dig out my animal husbandry study notes of 20 years ago, but googled rather now. Seems it is indeed the right forum to ask the question... "The hens are voting with their feet - the bike inner tube provides the most comfortable perch." Seems the url builder is broken so I just paste it here: http://www.yourchickens.co.uk/care-and-advice/the_perfect_perch_1_2842822
  6. That is the only thing that I'm scratching my head about. (I'm glad that DI is able to ride and although the reasons supplied is unlikely, it is still possible. I accept that. ) My feeling is more a 'sigh, what was he thinking' :trying to capsule his own chemicals. Surely that is risky, even more if I look at the missus's bottle of bicarbonate of soda, its source information & packaging quality. I would not trust it if my income depend on it. Hence my question if it is standard practise, do OGE doctors have a quality source and recommend it to its riders? If they do, surely the team doctor should handle this sort of task to ensure quality?
  7. Honest question to the people that know the pros - is diy capsuled baking soda regularly used? Does it work? Seems Livestrong recommended it dissolved in water though. Interesting to see the warning regarding its use and doping as well: http://www.livestron...r-sore-muscles/
  8. It appear that my 29er wheels should start to turn backwards when it notice a dead stop ahead
  9. What I do now is go back up on the green to the pine trees, then left on the green to purple (you can add the shorter pine ST loop that exit back onto purple) then follow purple to yellow/red back to the bottom of the new blue. That cut the 'keien' sections out

  11. Finished at 6 on the hour together with another single rider that I met on Bergplaas. Became good friends quickly Weird to hear the 'hane kraai' in the morning while still riding. What played with my mind was the Jaybay lights that I had seen from #7 was gone after 5am. So you felt like 30km away from a town. To see the mall when entering the roundabout was a pleasant surprise. well done to the quicker people. Respect...

  13. +1 - Thanks Dirtman, Hellwarp & co The amount of ST combinations to play around with is very nice. Plus the condition of the trails after the rain is very good for 99% of the distance & take a lot less traffic than Tygerberg or Jonkershoek = lots of 'me time'..brilliant
  14. A moment for Ryan Cox (9 April 1979 – 1 August 2007). Was and still is one of my favourite SA cyclists. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Cox
  15. When I look at Liam's itinerary and route map for the month of August, I'm so jealous: http://wildirelandto...ple-and-places/ Me and the missus did big sections on the motorbike on our regular 'keep the ocean as close as possible on the right trips'. Not the full distance and not the site visits though. Think it would be brilliant to see the hidden treasures. Starting clockwise in Waterford tomorrow...
  16. It was point out to me that there is also a picture under FAQ
  17. Ditto, The phone number on the web site don't work so I filled in the contact form with the question. Would be nice to get a photo of one to get an idea of dimensions.
  18. This statement reads better. (The height of trig beacons are not just published for the benefit of trail runners.)
  19. Thanks, it is a 9 speed. Using them for years and was always very easy. Recently opened a new bag of them as well as starting to use/test smoove..... was wondering what is the difference. The experience of the link before vs the new lube, that I could not understand that it could make it that more difficult. Will need to get a tool now, I had to cut the one open with a Dremmel.
  20. Anyone else found that SRAM quick link is more difficult to open by hand when using smooth?
  21. I would be keen to know how many Songo riders was bikejacked in Kayamandi in the last 5+ years?
  22. Anyone else found that the small 3 sprockets from a cassette bite into the aluminium freehub quicker for a heavy rider? (90kg+, for notubes 3.3 hub ) Ordering a steel freehub today...
  23. Thanks, got sorted by Bellville cycles. Bought a (cheap) complete crankset.
