  2. will be in CT soon, i'll give them a shout. thanks Hairy.
  3. No worries NicoBoshoffI banged my head very hard about 4 months ago. Landed headfirst doing jumps. I was like 5meters away from where I crashed, bike was another 5m further. So my confidence went down the drain. Started working on my ability and i am now able to flow much better than before the incident and my confidence is even higher than before. So I guess its just the fear of falling hard on my head again, and that I have a family to support that's motivated me to research protective gear.Oh, and yes... "Fools rush in" trying to keep it under control. So far so good, hope I'll be able to keep it up. My wallet only allows me to be a dreamer at the mo.
  4. +1 totally agree
  5. im not far of your wifes height, im at 1.65... and i think for the style and type of riding i am trying to get into, wider feels way better, i was at 710mm and also holding onto the ends of grips. with my new width, more aggressive, faster cornering is made easier. Climbing on the wider bar takes getting used to tho, but it does allow a more "open" chest for me, so feels like i breath easier. oh and yes shorter stem... been riding this for about 4 rides now and getting very comfy on this setup. mine are 777mm wide(uncut).
  6. hey Thanks patches! very helpful indeed, i think i should try on a few that you mentioned above and take it from there... oh yeah, thats if i can find them in our local shops here in CT. hopefully this weekend.
  7. Same here one of the best bike shops IMO just because of their great service. i went in with a bent chainring, they fixed it on the spot. No charge.... and i was back on the trails.... isn't that amazing!!! its like they've got loooovve for their fellow cyclists hey.
  8. And i thought i did quite a bit of homework before i got my fox fux..... looks like i am going to have to do the same, if not more for a ff.
  9. thanks patches... so how should a good "All mountain FF" fit and ventilate? also what wait should i be looking at, is 1.45kg heavy?
  10. Hey Guys, some advise needed... or maybe opinions. i have never worn full face helmets before, what should i be looking out for when doing research. Also will MX helmets do the job for All mountain/enduro riding. i was checking these guys out. http://www.fullthrottle.co.za/online/fullthrottleproducts.php?catid=Mjk=&subcat1=Mjg=
  11. okay now im seriously motivated to go full face... with wider bars, shorter stems and confidence building to go faster and faster... and i have already cracked and replaced my lid. man o man, i guess the 'nogen' deserves a decent bucket for riding the mountain.
  12. I just learnt how to do a rear wheel (very small)slide with no brakes while cornering.... the slide is just long enough for me to effectively counter-steer! OMW felt amazing..... But i can only do it while cornering to the left though
  13. You are very lucky like this.... i also want...
  14. Any one used these before? if so then hows the fit on the flows, specifically above the knee..
  15. Also depends on what you want i came across this.... http://www.iwarehouse.co.za/auto-bikes-boats-planes/motorbiking/biker-protection/leatt-knee-guard-3df i Dont know the company though so i cannot vouch for them. (iwarehouse.co.za)
  16. Contact Jason at International trade... here's another option to consider.. will be arriving very soon.
  17. Hey Tommohawk, Are you the guy with the Silver Remedy? if it is you, we got into a short discussion about the Bontrager tyres... where did you finish overall?
  18. really hope you get your bike back
  19. Oh... yeah, price is a big issue. I totally agree with Hardtailrider.
  20. my bike sits at the bottom of the table, 2011 trek fuel EX5 26er... but i love this bike to bits. Only down side for me is that it is not a remedy. the EX5 26er is still an Alu frame and is reasonably heavy, but for some reason i dont feel the weight in climbs. i ride XC/ all mountain and i just did an enduro event with it. the only things i have upgraded so far is the stock tyres and pedals, but these components are not an issue with the hgher end bikes which sport the new Bontrager XR4's and X0 pedals. the whole EX line is built around symmetry (120 or 130mm travel back and front) so its firm in climbs, nimble when decends and stiff when braking - thanks to ABP... and im only talking about a 2011 EX5... i saw a new 29er remedy 9 i think this past weekend... wow, what a schweeet ride.. and man did that guy bomb that bike! personally with trek i think you get your moneys worth. The quality in the ride is felt. I think the only thing Bontrager did not do in the new line is make the handlebars wide enough ( they did make it wider though) but ya, thats just my 2c worth. best of luck shopping..
  21. Yoh!! and your knee looks like that even though you had knee pads on??? where you like.... going at 120km/hr? Ouch!!
  22. Wow!! that was classic....
  23. i expected my finger to pain during braking and in singletrack sections, but it didnt.... the jeep tracks at the end of SS1, that grassy section just before the tag. and the jeep track between the two forest sections on SS2 where it gets really fast... was the most painful for me, vibrations caused a lotv pain. so had to slow down a lot over there.
  24. im quite small, stage 2 was awesome for me...pity my time does not reflect it .. all i had to do was duck under the branches. So...... When is the next Enduro here in CT???
  25. Haha! Wow! That was great fun! I now fully understand why guys overseas are big on enduro. I also now know that this was for me, felt exactly like my weekend rides. Execpt I never drooled that much over bikes and helmets before... I liked the SS1 and SS2 was well marked, really liked the danger tape markers for corners. I couldn't find SS4s trail tag, SS5 was cool. Overall very happy I participated. Only been riding 1 year now and finished round mid table, in a yrs time I hope my technique and skill will improve loads, so I can get a better rank. But ya, I had a blast! Was awesome!
