  1. this is just sickening! i hope these perps get whats coming to them!! and may all your bikes be returned to you...
  2. i've only ridden contermans a few times, i use the honesty box because im not a member. i do intend spending a bit of time there during winter. to those that know, if i wanted to ride the blue trail and the black trail, what would be the easiest way to link the routes? I have only ever road from the parking at the hut to the mast, and then singletrack down to the car. I would like to get more singletrack in next time I ride there. Any suggestions/recommendations are welcome...
  3. Does the volume of the 2.4 X-king look similar to the Volume of the 2.1 Excavator? if no diff, why not just swap them around?
  4. A buddy of mine had the Excavator on the front during last years winter, he said it was awesome. isnt the X-king a rear tyre? i know capricorn had some issues with his Hans Damf SG tyres in the front, swapped for Muddy Mary's. but kept rear HD SG... maybe drop him a pm for clarity...
  5. I cannot find the SA thread so.... Has anyone used www.cyclefunatic.co.za before?
  6. Awesome!! Would be nice to know how many people this event / format will attracts in PE...
  7. Hey Josh_FSR What did you end up getting for your gravel roads driving/travels?
  8. I am soooooo bumm'd that I cannot b there. I have wanting kneepads, baggies and T from ION for the past 4 months but none of our local Bike shops have stock yet. Have a buddy who is going to check them out for me tomorrow. I just hope they have my size... So sad.
  9. i have been running NN for the past 3-4months now, i have 2.25 Nics at the back, and 2.4 Nics in the front. in all fairness i think my front is an older model than the rear. However, they are both pacestar and i have not been let down by my Nics to date. Even in the Wet rock gardens. My rear 2.25 (newer version) looks the same volume size as my older 2.4 Front Nic. i run low pressure on tubes with no issues. i can do this because of my body weight and size. Still, i cannot say i have ever been disappointed by my Nics yet. Only thing i can say is that i think running NN back and front has a bit of rolling resistance so i do have to pedal a lot. I did find that my tyres seem to surprise me more and more these days as my technique and skills slowly improve.

I am I am going to do the enduro, registered and paid already. What kind of prepping was I supposed to be doing? LoL. Is it too late to start prepping now...
  12. I think a frame designed for 100mm or 120mm with 140mm or 150mm fork will not do well on steep climbs because the seat post angle is affected as well. The seat post and seat will be more over the rear wheel, therefore the riders weight will be over the rear wheel making it hard to pedal, especially for the taller guys. And then like Mayhem said above the rider still has to contend with the front wheel wanting to pop up all the time. The fuel is an awesome trail bike, and the travel and head angle allows the bike to climb and descend equally well. I would leave that bike as is. Oh wait, I did... Yoh! Imagine climbing steeps and trying to shift your weight forward but the bike pulls you over the rear, and at the same time try to put weight over the front and keep the wheel down... Man!! Just sounds frustrating. LOL

taking so long already to open the enduro lines and for more people to ride there yohh!! Naah just kidding... waiting in anticipation... :D
  14. rides best with 120mm fork and leave as is. Correct me if i am wrong (cz im still a noob), but the bb location also shifts if one would attempt to alter HA with a shorter/longer fork. which then affect the bikes handling, no matter how skilled the rider. too slack for the geometry would course the front wheel to un-weight in corners or even throw your balance off... also higher BB so centre of gravity is not as close to the ground as originally designed, again affects cornering. i dont know just my 2cents, im sure there is a steep/slacken tolerance one is able to go. but a bike designed with a slacker head angle should ride/descend like a bomb?
  15. Okay, So its rapid sports Cape Town see pages 15 and 16 here: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/125813-gear-for-enduro-20/page__st__224
  16. that is a long thread yes... i will try and source the info again.
  17. i have the 2013 flux. paid 850 i think including shipping from Buycycle. when comparing it to the flux, not too sure but i think : the striker has 2 additional vents the rear coverage is not as low as the flux i think both have : a flimsy visor straps which do not really hug or touch the head in front of the ears area, so wind plays there. Similar in weight ( i think weight is okay for all day riding, just depends on what you are used to. i do 40km rides with it so... no prob for me.) Flux i know is good value for money, as it sits how i want it to, sizing is okay, well ventilated (when my hair is cut ) , looks real cool, adjustment at the rear is nice, protection low at the back and low above the ear is my favorite feature i suppose. on a side note, have a read here : http://www.thehubsa....0/page__st__304 or check details here http://www.thehubsa....0/page__st__304 I've seen it in person, and looks very nice, and i think guys here on the hub know where to get them for R500 or so. also, Very Very similar to the Flux..
  18. My MTB goal this year, might be easy for some but i would like to: Compete in all the Enduro events in the Western Cape for 2014.
  19. shot Patches, and the cheapest of the lot being the 2012 commencal meta AM3... ^_^
  20. Yeah, how does the bikes rear suspension handle braking during descents. the current 2012 AM3 im looking at comes with the fox float RL rear sus and fox 32 float RL150mm, is it these components that have issues?
  21. Bad very bad... influence... in a good way
  22. the look of the AM3 is one of the main reasons why i am considering saving up and paying more....
  23. yeah, i checked it about a week ago... geometry of that bike pretty similar to my bike, just smaller... so HA vs fork choice is a concern and i think my bikes suspension setup is a bit better than that one. But yeah, thanks flowta but imna give the old trance a pass... would i regret going for the 2011 META 5.5 team??? anyone?
