  1. I hope it does make a difference! I really don't want to make a purchase, and then a few rides in I get the "I told you so" feeling. After all tyres are not really cheap. I've noticed some wear/tear on the side knobs at the base of my schwalbe (pacestar though). It is not braking wear( I know what that looks like:-)) the side knob still stands proud, and as cap said earlier - base of knob and tyre top cap junction. But its okay though. I had the tyre for about a year now, nothing has broken off. Maybe this is the "my weight" factor. Hope so, really do. Just sucks that it seems I will have to be importing from CRC, local stock is so crappy.
  2. did you have the HR II on the front yet? Would the same happen if the tyre was up front? The HD knob tear issue, is it isolated to occurring on the rear, or does it happen on the front too? Bronson on the front anyone? (No vigilante in 26)
  3. so does that mean that one should rather stay away from the HD? Seeing that it is so common, the chances of it happening on any HD is more than 70% or so? Which tyre would be the next "go to" tyre. Bronson maybe? Seeing that 26inch options in SA is so limited. Can a Bronson even be compared to a HD? In price yes.... HD @R499(easybike) and Bronson@R695(stoke).
  4. Not able to get the Ibex 2.4 for 26 inch locally in SA, the MMary too. So i was considering the HD. Well, your above statement just put me off completely. Seems WTB also stopped manufacturing 26inch Vigilante tyres as well.
  5. Is that the 2.4 DH 120 tpi? or the 2.25 FR type?
  6. what great skill!! the slow motion really shows off his technique....
  7. Pics??
  8. I got myself the Dakine Nomad pack - very happy with it. thanks to all that assisted me in making a decision. i initially struggled with the valve, but then figured it out. it has 3 settings actually: closed sip sip open I think its a nice feature. and no hassles thus far.
  9. any chance of bring in the Ultra or demo DH kit?
  10. Thanks for all the advice guys, will keep ya'll up to speed with what I get... Actually a bit excited now to get kit'd again.
  11. I LOVE the ION stock, vertex and sabotage is my favourite! I saw some indola's at revolution cycles the other day. The Enduro one, basically longer and better fit than its predecessor. Just some FYI
  12. I was going to say fox canalwalk had, did the run around myself... Fox headoffice said to me that the demand is too small, that is why their options are limited. Also told me that they make their money off the bigger retail companies like edgars, stuttafords etc, who bring in bulk casual wear. LBS cannot match the demand or bulk order quantities so hence limited stock available in SA.
  13. So my hydro/backpack was stolen out of my car. I had pretty much most tools in there that could help any rider on the trails who had mechanincal difficulty. Also my winter and summer long finger gloves, and pumps. Oh, and not to mention my sentimental valued allen key set handed down to me by my dad... I've got about R2000 now to replace the pack and content. What would you get for that price?
  14. Couldn't have said it any better! I think out of all the enduro's I did thus far. (Simonsberg, jonkers, helderberg, Delvera) simonsberg was the least technical and Jonkers ridden blind was the most technical for me. Delvera ridden blind was also very technical, but I'm leaning more towards 'endurance'.
  15. i think the fox Ultra is better.... pity the Ultra will not be available in South Africa.
  16. Your 1.6bar translates to about 23psi. So..... I've rolled my front NN off the rim completely. Mavics 319s at jonkers Double black. Depends on the speed one carries, and if your hitting corners hard I suppose. Anything straight is okay for lower than 20psi, but if I know I'm getting rocks or tons of flats or offcamber corners then definately more than 20psi for me. If opting to stay with NN, then maybe the Double defence would offer stiffer sidewalls for the front. But the snakeskin up front combined with low pressure, well I had a bad experience. 15-20psi upfront on a 2.4 NN should be okay, I keep it at 22psi, so pretty much the same as your 1.6bar. No dings on the front though. 22psi out back gives me pretty hard hits, rims can handle it at the moment, and so can the snakeskin carcass. But if I know I'm going to hit rock gardens then I go up a notch on the rear... 25psi - 28psi. Also, allows the rear to break loose easier when I need it to.
  17. I assume its because lower than 20psi on the front NN EVO Snakeskin, the tyre will experience quite a bit of "roll" on anything that's a bit offcamber and hit at speed. Less than 25psi at the back on a NN EVO snakeskin, feels like imna ding my rim to kingdom come! Lol... Also, wears quickly on the back (pacestar compound) in my experience. Oh, I'm 58kgs... Just by the way..
  18. and adore this...
  19. But still prefer this more!! Cancel my previous post .... the Meta SX of Jordan Baumann is freakn insane..
  20. I LOVE this!
  21. Erhhmmm, so just some feedback.... I did nothing. And my problem is solved. Hec I don't know what happened, Maybe the winter rain washed away the issues I had.
  22. i can hear you whispering it already!
  23. This Bronson tyre seems very confusing.
  24. I know i know, but first i have to sort this issue out. see i have a faulty tyre that is going back to the store so... (not going to get into it, tell you in person).
