  1. Try Richard at Free-wheel Cycology, I know they build up the Swift bikes, so maybe they can swing you a deal.
  2. Agreed, see the light and all is simplified. Just think if at the end of this year you do not sign up, they will feel it.............. only if you are part of the masses. If the rest feel they are getting a fair deal all things stay the same and your bitching was a waste of time and energy. PS it does not need to be a business, just ppl wanting the same thing and paying to make it happen in their own way........ No wait is this not what there is now?
  3. I know, it is a pipe dream but we live in hope!
  4. Newbies will not pitch unless they have been invited, referred by a member, it is then that member's duty to enlighten, nay, INSTRUCT and in fact accompany the referred, invited newbie. It is time to take ownership. There are many "secret routes" that I often take ppl on and there are always clear instructions in this regard. So in short, If you join the club you sign the "rules" and if you invite or tell ppl about a route it is YOUR responsibility to do the instruction, no one else.
  5. My recommendation to the "Club": 1. Kill the club at the year end 2. Get up a trail management team 3. Charge to ride the trails: day permits, 1/2 year permit and full year permit 4. No correspondence will be entered into 5. Have a security and marshals team to patrol and check the routes. there are easy points to control this. All problems will be solved! Easy !!!! If someone don't like it tuff
  6. Why do you need year round maintenance, just get everyone to ride the trails properly and not drag the rear wheels around every corner etc. that is what kills the trails, and even then, in the old days we used to say the trails had been ridden in and added more of a challenge. I do not understand.........
  7. I gave up reading after page8. Here are a few things: 1. I was a member of the "Club" a long time ago when things started and all was good.... 2. I do not ride there often so am no longer a member and now buy permits and use the honesty boxes. 3. It is MTB, if you cant ride the routes DON'T it is MTB after all. 4. If it is such an issue why not do what Botlary hills does. No club, You purchase a permit for the year, No permit No ride., If you don't like it too bad. Get security personnel to check for membership and escort non compliant members off the route. Otherwise you have 2 options: 1. don't join the club and don't ride the routes 2. Mobilize your mates and take over the club at the AGM. Bottom line they are doing an awesome job on the routes and they are all p*ss easy except for maybe, the black route and they are super well maintained. What more do you want? The trails there rock, well they did until a month ago, the last time I was there.
  8. But they ain't doing 29'rs any more either???????????
  9. 1st do a tubeless conversion, it will save you loads of trouble and prevent pinch flats. You should be able to use your existing tires as well. non tubeless and your weight you will probably be looking at about 2.2 bar, but I mat be wrong here.
  10. Well I know one riding in old Mutual kit did.
  11. do you still have space?
  12. Merida Big Nine MTB R 25k 11.6 kg R 2155/kg Damn that is much too much. and this is with Mud, tubes, tools etc. so in fact it is going to be even more per kg if I take that off.
  13. You can start in any group as long as it is equal to or lower than you seeding.
  14. Looks like it is also re branded as WTB now that Stans Owns WTB so look out for either.
  15. I have tried most of the other stuff out there and to me there is only STANS. Even if it costs the earth.
  16. Well reality check here, That was not as bad as it looks, yes he was a dufus for wanting to get ahead, but he only spent about 10m in the yellow like and if the other dude left gave him a chance there would have been no issue. Also he was also traveling slow enough to have been able to stop if the door was closed on him as most saffas tend to do. 90% of us drive this way some of the time so......
  17. And Anatomic? and Pro Race?
  18. where can one watch online? I am to stupid with this stuff. Please help
  19. where can I view live streaming of this year's tour?
  20. Well then there is no loss, Sell it!! on OLX cheap cheap ;-)
  21. Agreed Racing and cycling are 2 very different things. It is often good to go from one to the other, just to get context.
  22. Cycling is a bit of this all over. However I just hooked up with a bike shop that organizes rides for all levels (Big problem) we are sorting this out. However we have a backup vehicle, however everyone that pitches up for the ride pays a fee towards the BV to cover costs. It is informal, no club, just like minded dudes wanting to get it done. Granted not ideal with the different levels, however we are working on this, I Hope. As I said before it is all by way of consensus. so it SHOULD work out.
  23. "When I'm indoors I switch the gps function off for the IDT, the Garmin then uses the data from the speed sensor. Not that it is relative since it varies depending on the amount of resistance you initially put on the tyre." How so? Sorry may be a stupid question....
