  1. But stones make it difficult to ride and you know I have a 29'r and all. Come on man someone could fall and get hurt. Come on guys, all that is happening is he is listening to the dudes that were complaining about the Tygerberg MTB club's lack of train maintenance and the fact that someone could get hurt. Just think one of these days the single track will be paved or tarred........
  2. Ho well I bailed at the Botlary and went home. Why? It was my first time back on the bike after 2 weeks of flu. Started OK and then just ran out of steam. Just felt k@k for dropping the mates I was riding with as it was a DC team training ride.
  3. Trim the shoe.
  4. Howzit Dxxxxe, been around since inception, just slowed down on the posts for a few years, so I know the hub. Just thought I would throw my beret in the ring for a change.
  5. Mooie Man .... Smaak dit stukkend!
  6. Never needed any.
  7. Lets separate the 2 issues. 1. Fat is fat and if they are on a bike it means they aredoing something about it and adding to the economy. Thereby reducing the price op your bikes , parts, etc. Volume brings prices down, so thank them. 2. Trafic issues are such and if everyone was riding single file in front of or behind dikkes, all would be good. It is just that they are not riding "tight" that pisses ppl off.
  8. Ok so, I was, am, is, and dont want to be a dikkes , but I am. However: 1. I know them and often times ride with them. And I have let them know of the disgust real cyclists have towards them. 2. The majority have been cycling for a short priod of time (in our terms) 3. The majority of them are well on the way to being racing snakes some time in the future the well be. 4. They are passionate about cycling. 5. They are doing the DC and will be in the upper 50% of finishers. Now my 2 cents. Yes, they look shabby in the photo, but as a rule they have even got the paceline sorted, something many have not done to date. Technically they are riding 2 up, camera angles do change things. Dikkes is fine, but not following cycling protocol, shame. So what I am getting at is. Live and let live, or if it riels you talk to them. We are all human and fall of the pedestal from time to time. Ps. I know of a few dikkes that lost weight and now kick serious assssss. There is potential in all of us to be great. And I am now riding with them in the DC. So maybe I am biased.......
  9. One foot is normally fine. but have you adjusted the spring tension to it's lowest setting?
  10. The reason I ask is I never knew it was so complicated..... Put it all together mark, subtract 2-3mm done? I have never had an issue before, and most people add spaces above the clamp anyway in case they need to fit the fork to another bike etc. In this case just mix the correct spacers. It was simple for me till now..... now I am going to have to scour the interweb each time.....
  11. Quite a bit under.......
  12. Wait till you hit the single track. Then you will feel the ox-wagon tenancies if you are riding a Small or Med. 26" is still the bomb on tight ST, then 650B then 29'r. But then again 90% of the new MTB'rs cant ride single track on a 26" anyway. so get what you want. Ho ja remember in 2 years, if that long, you won't be able to give a 29'r away.
  13. What is this stack height you talk of?
  14. Snap! how many buy using that piece of plastic, so if the OP is offering better rates then it is a good deal.
  15. Was Not me. I will be there again so let's see then. Well maybe I will snore this time as i am carrying even more weight and have been off the bike for 2 weeks now after sporadic rides before that. Se you all there.
  16. I am 1.86m and ride a 56cm, that feels a bit large. But bike model will also make a difference. Not all 56 or 58's are the same. But think a 58 is way to big.
  17. MTB IS Now the new Golf...........
  18. OKI seem to be missing something, going tubeless is not that dear. To do a tubeless ghetto conversion will not cost more than about 400 ZAR, 2 x 26" tubes for a 29'r or 24" for 26" conversion (90 ZAR for the 2). Stans for 2 Tyres 250 - 300 ZAR (Ibelieve this is better than anything out there and is waaay to dear, but so it is) You can also go the gorilla tape and tubeless valves which will cost a bit more. you do not need to change the tyres, unless you are a serious sidwall slayer, ride the current tyres till they are toast and then replace with tubeless tyres. I am still ring with a Racing Ralph non tubless in front and a Maxis Icone Tubless at the rear. Been this was for almost 2 years now and included was the TransKaroo and the Trans Baviaans. Never had a puncture issue but have had to top up the Stans 4 times. Tubless just works.
  19. Holdfast have an extention that you mount between the rack and the towbar plate. works 100% but not on the goose nek types.
  20. If you train as if you are entered you WILL get an entry near the time and for less than the normal entry anyway.
  21. Oi, what is this nonsense of getting a sense of humour.........
  22. Look carefully, I think your bike needs to be specified even for theft from home or they will not cover it.... I think, nay I am quite sure.
  23. Best way to make sure of this it to plan to have someone with a rotwiler or similar waiting at the point that you think you are going to blow and get them to release the hound. That WILL get you to your max HR trying to sprint away.
  24. I think it can only become an issue once you hit 9+ hours a week. If they squeal before that it is time for a trade in. Try those Russian on line brides thing's....
